Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister said on Saturday the kingdom was optimistic that it would have “excellent relations” with the new US administration of President Joe Biden and that it would continue to talk with Washington regarding the Iran nuclear deal.
“I am optimistic. Saudi Arabia has built solid, historical relations where it worked with different administrations. We will continue to do that as well with President Biden,” Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said in an interview with Arabiya TV.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Florida’s daily COVID-19 death toll hit 277 Friday, tying the state record for resident and non-resident deaths from the disease.
Florida reported 13,719 new coronavirus cases on Friday and another 272 new resident deaths linked to COVID-19. The state has now reported 1,627,603 cases since the pandemic began.
The death toll tied the state record set Aug. 11, as the disease reached its summer peak.

The president's top coronavirus adviser, Dr. Anthony Fauci, met Friday with a group of Baltimore ministers to ask for their help in getting minority communities vaccinated against the coronavirus.
Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, repeatedly acknowledged a long history of mistrust of medicine and research among the Black community.
"We need your help," Fauci said.
As part of the Biden administration's plan to increase the rate of vaccination in Black and brown communities, Fauci tried to persuade the ministers to make their churches centers of reliable information about the COVID-19 vaccine.

Baltimore will not outsource its water meter operations, city leaders announced Friday afternoon.
In October, former Mayor Jack Young announced the city's Department of Public Works would outsource meter reading and maintenance to a private company, Itron, and lay off 68 city meter operations employees.
On Friday, Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, City Administrator Chris Shorter and Acting DPW Director Matthew Garbark the city will not outsource meter shop operations.
"The city is not moving forward with the Itron contract and they will not be laid off," Scott said. "Our meter shop workers are a part of our Baltimore family. Israel is expected to increase fines and ban international travel to members of the public that fail to adhere to coronavirus restrictions in an effort to beat back soaring infection rates in the country.

Republicans say the chances that former President Trump will be convicted in an impeachment trial are plummeting, despite lingering anger among some Republicans over his actions.
Only five or six Republican senators at the most seem likely to vote for impeachment, far fewer than the number needed, GOP sources say.
A two-thirds majority vote would be necessary for a conviction, something that would require at least 17 GOP votes if every Democrat votes to convict Trump.
