U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib expressed concern Sunday that President-elect Joe Biden’s pick for Secretary of State might try to silence her criticism of Israeli government policy. Biden tapped longtime diplomat Tony Blinken for the role.
“Just make sure he doesn’t try to silence me and suppress my First Amendment right to speak out against Netanyahu’s racist and inhumane policies,” Tlaib wrote on Twitter, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Many years ago I attended a chess match at a local tennis club. We were watching two grandmasters play for a big money prize. I, along with all the other observers, were mere chess buffs and were nowhere near the level of the players we were observing. Suddenly, In the middle of the match, one of the players made a surprising move that elicited groans and looks of bewilderment from the crowd. Even the analyst who was explaining the moves seemed to be at a loss. It was incomprehensible and seemed to be an egregious error that could cost him the match. However, to our surprise, a mere three moves later his opponent abruptly stood up, shook his hand and left!

A coronavirus vaccine will begin to become available in the United States "probably by the end of the second week in December," Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Robert Redfield told Fox News Tuesday.
Redfield told "The Daily Briefing" that a vaccine would initially be made available "in a hierarchical way" with priority going to "nursing home residents and then some combination of health care providers and individuals at high risk for a poor outcome."

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - El Al Israel Airlines will operate 14 weekly flights from Tel Aviv to Dubai from Dec. 13, it said on Monday, joining a handful of carriers launching routes between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Israel and the UAE agreed in September to establish diplomatic relations, breaking a longstanding taboo and paving the way for economic cooperation.

David Norman Dinkins, the former mayor of New York City, has died. He was 93 years old.
Born July 10, 1927, Dinkins served as the 106th Mayor of New York City from 1990 to 1993. He was the first and, to date, only African American to hold that office.
During his tenure, New York City dealt with the infamous Crown Heights riots in 1991.
Before entering politics, Dinkins was among the more than 20,000 Montford Point Marines (trained 1942–1949; Dinkins’ service was 1945–1946); he graduated cum laude from Howard University; and he received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School (1956).
Dinkins began his political career by serving in the State Assembly (1966), eventually advancing to Manhattan borough president before becoming mayor.

A majority of Republicans surveyed in a new poll — 54 percent — said they would vote for President Trump in 2024.
The Morning Consult-Politico poll released Tuesday found that 12 percent of GOP voters said they would choose Vice President Pence in the 2024 primary instead, while 8 percent said they would vote for the president’s son, Donald Trump Jr.
In addition, 68 percent of Republicans voters said they consider President Trump to be more in touch with the GOP's “rank and file,” compared to 20 percent who said the same of congressional Republicans.
