JERUSALEM (VINnews) — As the coronavirus cases and number of sick people have dropped sharply in Israel, government ministers continue to discuss frameworks which would allow a return of different elements of the economy to normal without seeing yet another spike in COVID-19 cases.
The health ministry wishes to go from stage to stage based on health parameters and not dates. It demands a break of 14 days between each stage in opening the economy in order to evaluate the situation. The ministers also discussed how many different stages would be required and how the issue of education will be resolved.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted full approval to the antiviral drug remdesivir to treat COVID-19, manufacturer Gilead announced Thursday.
FDA initially granted emergency use authorization for remdesivir in May, which allowed doctors and hospitals to use the drug to treat hospitalized patients without a full approval.
It showed modest results in reducing the hospitalizations of patients with severe cases of COVID-19. Remdesivir is administered in a hospital setting through an IV.
The approval is based on three randomized controlled trials, including one sponsored by the National Institutes of Health.

A senior security official said tonight following the signing of an agreement in the United States between Defense Minister Benny Gantz and US Secretary of Defense Mark Esper that it is a very important agreement, and that "the very fact that it took place before the US election, when it comes to an agreement that is signed and approved once every four years, is of great importance."
According to sources who participated in the conversation, Israel will receive armaments, more fighter jets, and the discussion about the v22 helicopter that Israel wanted to purchase will continue.

NEW YORK (VINnews) — A Brooklyn man involved in the fatal crash that killed a Williamsburg Jewish couple and their unborn baby in March 2013, has had his convictions overturned.
On March 3, 2013, Julio Acevedo crashed into a livery cab while driving his BMW at 70 miles per hour, killing Nathan Glauber, 21, and his wife, Raizy, 21, who was seven months pregnant with their son, Tanchem. He was delivered alive, but died the next day.
Acevedo fled the scene of the accident, but was arrested by police 4 days later.
In 2015, Acevedo was convicted of two counts of second-degree manslaughter, one count of criminally negligent homicide and two counts of leaving the scene of an incident without reporting in Feb. 2015 after a trial.

Former Google Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt said the “excesses” of social media are likely to result in greater regulation of internet platforms in the coming years.
Schmidt, who left the board of Google’s parent Alphabet Inc. in 2019 but is still one of its largest shareholders, said the antitrust lawsuit the U.S. government filed against the company on Tuesday was misplaced, but that more regulation may be in order for social networks in general.

Nearly 1 million people have exhausted their unemployment benefits since March after losing their jobs to the coronavirus pandemic, according to an analysis published Wednesday by a progressive think tank.
The Century Foundation calculated that 933,731 people received their maximum allotment of unemployment insurance payments by Aug. 31, according to Labor Department and Treasury Department data. The number and size of unemployment insurance payments are determined by each state.

Israeli vaccine could become available at an earlier date
A top official at US biotech firm Moderna said on Thursday that its much anticipated vaccine against the novel coronavirus is most likely to become available in Israel in the first half of 2021.
Last month, Moderna became the first medical company to publish blueprints of their coronavirus vaccine studies, helped by a US federal grant to the tune of $2.5 billion.
