The government met through the night on Wednesday to determine the next steps required to stop the spread of coronavirus infection. The ministers ultimately approved a total lockdown beginning Friday at 2 p.m., which will last at least two weeks.
The following regulations were approved by the government:
• All workplaces, except essential ones, will operate in accordance with approved regulations
• Marketplaces – closed
• Travel – only one kilometer from home, unless for an approved reason
• Prayer and demonstrations – in open spaces only, up to 20 people and within one kilometer from home
• Synagogues – closed, except for prayers on Yom Kippur in accordance with the ...

Dear TAG Parents,
At 9:30 this evening, we received a phone call from the NYC Department of Health ordering that the school be closed effective immediately. We have not been provided with any specific details as relates to the reasons, causes or duration of the closure. We anticipate a meeting with the DOH tomorrow morning at which we hope to receive additional information which we will share with you.
We apologize for this late notification; however, we were given no warning that this closure was pending. Indeed, as you all know, TAG COVID policies met and exceeded all published State and CDC Guidelines.
Please note: Other than the classes that had already been quarantined, we HAVE NOT been instructed to quarantine other students.

Scientists in Houston on Wednesday released a study of more than 5,000 genetic sequences of the coronavirus, which reveals the virus’s continual accumulation of mutations, one of which may have made it more contagious.
That mutation is associated with a higher viral load among patients upon initial diagnosis, the researchers found.
The study, which has not been peer-reviewed, was posted Wednesday on the preprint server MedRxiv. It appears to be the largest single aggregation of genetic sequences of the virus in the United States thus far. Over 9,000 New York City employees will be furloughed for five days between October and March to save about $21 million as the city battles a severe budget shortfall from the coronavirus pandemic, Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Wednesday.
“It’s a difficult one because it will affect real people and their lives, it will affect their families,” de Blasio told reporters.

The city is ramping up efforts to crack down on coronavirus “clusters” in Brooklyn — with a “serious uptick” in cases popping up in predominantly Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods, Mayor Bill de Blasio said Wednesday.
The mayor pointed out two areas of concern with dense Jewish populations at his press briefing: the Ocean Parkway cluster, encompassing Midwood, Borough Park and Bensonhurst, and a cluster in Williamsburg.

Protests in Louisville turned violent as police said an officer was shot during demonstrations that erupted after a Kentucky grand jury on Wednesday indicted one officer for allegedly endangering the neighbors of Breonna Taylor during the police shooting that resulted in her death.
The Louisville Metro Police Department couldn't provide details about the shooting, which took place just before the 9 p.m. curfew went into effect. The officer's condition was also unknown. The FBI confirmed the officer shooting in a tweet.
The investigation into the shooting was ongoing, according to the LMPD. It is unclear if the shooting was directly related to the protests.

Another Arab country will sign a peace deal with Israel in the “next day or two,” US Ambassador to the UN Kelly Craft told Al Arabiya in an interview on Wednesday.
“Our plan is to bring more countries, which we will have more being announced very soon … One [country will sign] in the next day or two,” she said.
“I know others are going to be following,” Craft added.
In August, the United Arab Emirates announced a deal with Israel to establish diplomatic ties and normalize relations. Bahrain followed suit and the three countries signed the deal at a ceremony at the White House last week.
