Bahrain broke up a plot by militants backed by Iran to launch attacks on diplomats and foreigners in the island nation home to the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, just days after normalizing relations with Israel, Saudi state television reported Sunday.
Bahrain’s Interior Ministry and its state media did not immediately acknowledge the arrests. Bahraini government officials, who routinely claim breaking up plots by militants backed by Iran, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden had another gaffe on Sunday when he said an estimated 200 million people have already died from the coronavirus, even though the number of American casualties is closer to 200,000.
“If Donald Trump has his way, the complications from COVID-19, which are well beyond what they should be — it’s estimated that 200 million people have died — probably by the time I finish this talk,” he said during a campaign speech.
The U.S. population is estimated to be slightly 328 million people, meaning nearly two-thirds of the nation would have perished from the disease by now if Biden’s verbal confusion was true.

President Trump’s former Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats wants Congress to create a bipartisan commission to oversee the upcoming U.S. election as fears mount that an international actor could again interfere in the high-stakes race.
In an opinion piece published by The New York Times just 47 days ahead of the Nov. 3 election, Mr. Coats said the suggested commission would monitor electoral systems and “confirm for the public that the laws and regulations governing them have been scrupulously and expeditiously followed — or that violations have been exposed and dealt with — without political prejudice and without regard to political interests of either party.”

A Jewish school in Montreal was ordered closed for two weeks on the eve of the High Holidays following an outbreak of the coronavirus that infected at least 15 students.
The temporary closure of Herzliah High School reportedly was the first time since the fall term began that an entire school in Quebec province was sent home.
The Quebec health department made the move after a number of students in several classrooms tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

The U.S. Postal Service must live up to its responsibilities to timely process election mail by treating it as a priority, a New York judge ordered on Monday, adding that the agency’s workers should be permitted to make extra deliveries and work overtime near the November presidential election.
The written decision by U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero came after several individuals, including candidates for public office, sued. They said President Donald Trump, the postal service and its new postmaster general were endangering election mail.

The Department of Justice on Monday declared New York City, Seattle, and Portland, Oregon, as “anarchist jurisdictions” in the first move to rescind their federal funding, The Washington Times reports.
President Donald Trump issued a memo earlier this month asking the DOJ to determine jurisdictions that it thought were not properly enforcing the law, as he repeatedly criticized cities led by Democrats for their response to the ongoing protests.

School in Maryland can apply for funding to use for reopening — specifically for building readiness and transportation.
MARYLAND — To encourage a return to classrooms for in-person learning, State Superintendent of Schools Karen Salmon said she would be offering $10 million in funding to local school systems. The Maryland Department of Education gave more details Monday on the program.

The stress on threes concerning the giving of the Torah, it occurs to me, reflects the essence of mesorah itself, its transmittal. Just as the most elemental physical chain needs three links, so, too, the conceptual one. Each of us is a middle link; we must have received the mesorah and then transmitted it. Russia has announced preliminary agreements to sell its experimental COVID-19 vaccine, Sputnik V, to Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and India, according to The Wall Street Journal.
