NEW YORK (VINnews) — A new study published by the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene claims that rumors, stigma and conspiracy theories regarding coronavirus have led to the death of hundreds and to injuries and suffering of thousands of other people. The study analyzed data in 25 different languages from 87 different countries and revealed that the “infodemic” which accompanied the coronavirus pandemic had exacerbated the suffering of people around the globe. President Donald Trump told radio host Hugh Hewitt on Tuesday he would fill a Supreme Court vacancy if one opened up, even though it is an election year. “Absolutely, I’d do it,” Trump said, adding, “I would move quickly. Why not? . . . The Democrats would if they were in this position.” Leading members of the GOP have said they have no problem filling a vacancy even though Senate Republicans prevented former President Barack Obama from doing so in 2016. The Republicans refused to even hold hearings on Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, claiming that since it was an election year, the decision should be up to whoever is elected president in November by the people. A Halachic Medical Directive is a very important protection for every Jewish patient. It indicates that you want to receive medical care according to halachah. By signing this document, you have chosen a particular agent and a particular Rabbi to make health care decisions on your behalf in case you are unable to do so; for example, if you were to become unconscious. This will protect you from a situation where the medical staff, not knowing the halachah, might mistakenly assume that you don’t want further medical care. It protects your family from repeated pressure from the medical staff to terminate medical care. Many patients’ lives have been saved by these documents. Signing the document ahead of time is not enough. It is important to be prepared to remind your medical tea...
