Banks will make out with $18 billion in fees for processing small business Paycheck Protection Program relief loans during the pandemic, according to calculations by Amanda Fischer, policy director at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth, a progressive economic think tank.
That’s money taken directly out of the overall $640 billion pot of funding Congress allocated to the program it created as part of the CARES Act. “If we did it through a public institution, there would be [more than] $140 billion left,” Fischer noted, as opposed to the $130 billion still up for grabs. The Washington Center for Equitable Growth is releasing an analysis of the government response to the pandemic as soon as this week.
The fees compensate the banks for some of the costs that come wi...
Fox News medical correspondent Dr. Marc Siegel and former White House physician Dr. Ronny Jackson discuss the latest developments amid the coronavirus pandemic.
As Trump administration officials have increasingly sought to undermine him in recent days, Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert and one of the most trusted federal officials working on the pandemic, made his most pointed remarks yet on Wednesday addressing tensions with the White House.
“I cannot figure out in my wildest dreams why they would want to do that,” Dr. Fauci said in an interview with The Atlantic on Wednesday. “I think they realize now that that was not a prudent thing to do, because it’s only reflecting negatively on them.”
He spoke as Trump administration officials have sought to undermine his credibility — first anonymously, over the weekend, and then out in the open. A short op-ed by Peter Navarro...

If elections were held today, Likud would drop two seats to 34 seats, while Yamina would rise eight seats to 14 seats.
As support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to fall, former defense minister Naftali Bennett’s Yamina Party has seen rising popularity amid the coronavirus crisis, with a poll by 103FM finding that the party would garner 14 seats if elections were held today (eight more than in the March elections), while Likud would earn 34 seats (two less than in the March elections).Yesh Atid earned 16 seats and the Joint List earned 14 seats in the poll.
Blue and White, Yisrael Beytenu and Shas would each earn nine seats, while United Torah Judaism and Meretz would earn seven seats. If the right-wing bloc were to be split between Likud, the haredi part...

Post comparing Netanyahu to beheaded king of France, appears on official Twitter account of Israeli embassy in Ghana.
The official Twitter account of the Israeli embassy in Ghana, Africa, published an embarrassing tweet attacking Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and the Israeli haredi community.
The person who posted the tweet meant to use his personal account, but accidentally posted it on the embassy's official account
The embarrassing tweet was posted after Globes journalist Avishai Grinzaig criticized the claims by left-wing protesters that the protest outside the Prime Minister's Residence Tuesday night was similar to the storming of the Bastille during the French Revolution.
"Who would have believed that a call to attend the event of the storm...
When I came out of shul earlier last week, I ran into a former client. I didn’t literally run into him and during the Corona crises, I certainly made sure not to really run into him. But keeping our social distance, we had a very interesting conversation that I would like to share with you. First, a little history.
I have been in the health and fitness field for over 21 years now. Prior to that, I turned my own health around. I have always prided myself on advising people on health, fitness, and weight loss based on the latest science. I have always tried to keep up with the latest in health research. Aside from professional magazines, I also receive daily emails from respected publications, many used by doctors. However, there are two...
JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In the wake of the steep rise in authenticated cases of COVID-19 in Israel, Health Minister Yuli Edelstein declared Wednesday that unless there is a miracle, Israel is on the way to a second total lockdown.
Edelstein set 2000 infections per day as the maximum point at which Israel will have to initiate a renewed lockdown. The past day saw an unprecedented 1,718 positive diagnoses and Edelstein is pessimistic:
“What we are looking at is a synthesis of factors. If we reach 2000 new cases a day and a continuation of the worrying increase in seriously ill patients and patients on respirators, as hospitals inform us that they are stopping elective surgeries- then we will have to come to harsh consequences,” Edelstein told Ynet.
Edelstein criticized fel...
TEHRAN (JNS) – The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force, Maj. Gen. Esmail Ghaani, said on Tuesday that “tough times” await Israel and the United States.
Ghaani’s remarks broke the Iranian regime’s silence regarding a series of explosions that have recently occurred at Iranian industrial facilities.
“Tough times lie ahead for the United States and the Zionist regime. Major events are about to strike you,” said Ghaani, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.
The Quds Force commander hinted that a fire that broke out Sunday on the amphibious assault vessel USS Bonhomme Richard in San Diego was Iranian retaliation for the recent blasts.
“The Americans should not look for who is responsible for what ...
ALBANY (VINnews) — In a statement issued on Wednesday by the head of the New York State Troopers PBA, “demanded” that state troopers be removed from New York City “and cease any law enforcement activities within that jurisdiction.”
“We have arrived at this unfortunate decision due to the hastily written so-called police reform legislation recently passed by the New York City Council,” wrote PBA President Thomas H. Mungeer in his statement. “This poorly conceived bill, which will be signed into law by Mayor de Blasio today, puts an undue burden upon our troopers; it opens them up to criminal and civil liability for restraining a person during a lawful arrest in a manner that is consistent with their training and is legal throughout ...

The Trump administration is poised to ask governors to consider sending in the National Guard to hospitals to help improve data collection about coronavirus patients, supplies and capacity, according to draft letters, internal emails and hospital industry officials familiar with the plans.
A letter, to be sent to governors imminently, backs away from earlier drafts that had directed state leaders to deploy the National Guard to help hospitals with daily data submissions. It now includes the National Guard among states’ options for improving the data flow, according to two senior administration officials and one industry official who was informed Monday about the final version.
Still, even the possibility of National Guard involvement has infuriated hospital industry leaders, who sa...
The Land of Israel Caucus of the Knesset proposed a bill on Monday to apply sovereignty to all Jewish communities in Yehuda and Shomron, not just the 30 percent laid out in U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Peace to Prosperity” plan.
The Caucus is a large lobby group made up of right-wing coalition and opposition lawmakers.
According to a Channel 12 report, the bill—presented by members of Knesset Haim Katz (Likud) and Bezalel Smotrich (Yamina)—seeks to “create a mechanism for the preservation of non-sovereign territory, and for the prevention of Arab or international takeover” of territories in Area C [that the Oslo Accords determined would gradually be transferred to Palestinian jurisdiction] outside the “sovereignty map.”
Yerushalayim has started construction on parts of an NIS 3 billion (approximately $870 million) major highway that will eventually serve as a ring road around Israel’s largest city, with the goal of significantly alleviating traffic throughout the capital. At the same time, planners hope that the project will provide easier access for those entering or passing through the city from all sides.
Construction has already commenced on the southern and central sections of the Eastern spur of the highway, which consists of a three-pronged, 10-kilometer (6.2 miles) stretch of pavement known as “The American Road.” When fully completed, the road, which will include bridges and tunnels, will stretch from the Arab neighborhood of Tzur Baher in the southeast to the Naomi Shemer Tunn...
