Sen. Bernie Sanders said Tuesday he will not release any more medical records during his presidential bid, arguing he’s already released sufficient information to quell concerns about his health. Sanders, the current front-runner for the Democratic nomination, has faced questions about his health since he suffered a heart attack in October. He insisted at a CNN town hall Tuesday night that the release of three letters from his doctors at the end of December declaring him healthy were sufficient disclosures. “We have released, I think … quite as much as any other candidate has. We released two rather detailed letters from cardiologists and we released a letter that came from the head of the U.S. Congress medical group, the physicians there. So I think we have released a...

At a hearing Monday, Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young called funding for the Kirwan Commission's proposed education reforms "a matter of life and death." That incensed Gov. Larry Hogan. Long a critic both of the commission's multibillion-dollar recommendations and of city leaders, the governor accused elected officials, including lawmakers, of having priorities that are out of whack. "We can talk about what we're going to do about schools over the next 10 years," Hogan told C4 on Tuesday. "But if you want to talk about a life or death matter, it's doing something about the people who are getting shot and killed on the streets of Baltimore." In Baltimore, 43 people have been killed in 2020, 38 of them since the start of the legislative session. That foll...

Abbott was prime minister when the plane carrying 239 people vanished on March 8, 2014, while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. Australia, working on Malaysia’s behalf, coordinated what became the largest search in aviation history, but it failed to find the plane before being ended in 2017. Speaking in a Sky News documentary to air on Wednesday and Thursday, Abbott said high-ranking Malaysian officials believed veteran pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah deliberately downed the jet. “My very clear understanding, f...

Israel’s caretaker Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu invited his political arch-nemesis, Blue and White alliance chief Benny Gantz to debate live on air on Tuesday. In his interview for Israel’s Channel 20, the PM said he wanted to debate Gantz in a debate hosted by the outlet — or by any other platform. “We will debate on TV, we will speak to the people without any scripts,” Netanyahu said, describing the challenge as an offer that “may be impossible to reject” for Gantz. Blue and White chief showed little appetite for such an event, however, dismissing the challenge as a publicity stunt aimed at diverting the public’s attention from Netanyahu’s legal plights. Former Likud MK Yehuda Glick was arrested Wednesday morning, the third time he has been arrested in less than 24 hours, before being released. Glick was arrested Tuesday night after police conducted a search of his home, on suspicion he took documents from a police investigation. After leaving the police station Wednesday, Glick told reporters that investigators were trying to ‘blow up’ what he said was an honest mistake, and claim that he had intentionally taken police documents. Glick said police were looking to draw attention away from their discriminatory treatment of Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount, following his arrest at the holy site Tuesday morning. “Police cannot remove the core issue here, which is the degrading treatment Jews often face on the Temple M...
Defense Minister Naftali Bennett (Yamina) spoke with 103 FM Radio about his defense policy and the threats currently facing Israel. "The greatest change that's happening now is that we're toning down the tactical wars against Hamas and Hezbollah, so that we can turn most of our energy to Iran itself," Bennett explained. "Instead of fighting with Hezbollah and Hamas, we're turning our military, economic, and diplomatic efforts to weakening Iran, because it's the head of the snake. The battle between the wars is turning offensive, to remove the Iranians from Syria. Iran is becoming weaker and maybe we can prevent a third war in Lebanon." When asked why he is reinstating leniencies for Gaza, Bennett said: "We use a tactic of reward of punishment. If there is qu...
A recently restored shul in Alexandria, Egypt, just hosted the country’s biggest Jewish tefillah in decades. About 180 Diaspora Jews who have Egyptian roots traveled to Egypt to participate in Shabbos davening celebrating the newly renovated 14th-century Eliyahu Hanavi Shul, reported The Jerusalem Post. The weekend was organized by the Nebi Daniel Association, which is dedicated to the preservation of Jewish sites in Egypt. The Shul was restored in a multiyear, multimillion-dollar effort that began in 2017 as part of Egypt’s new efforts to preserve its Jewish heritage. It cost around $4 million, which included upgrading the lighting and the security system. “I’m very proud of what my country has done, and it symbolizes living together,” said Magda Haroun, h...
The Justice Department pushed back Tuesday night at multiple reports claiming Attorney General William Barr told people close to him he's considering stepping down over President Trump's tweets, days after Barr admitted that Trump's tweeting made it "'impossible for me to do my job." "Addressing Beltway rumors: The Attorney General has no plans to resign," DOJ spokeswoman Kerri Kupec tweeted. Barr "has his limits," one person familiar with Barr’s thinking told The Washington Post. Its report suggested that Barr wanted Trump to "get the message" to stop weighing in publicly in ongoing criminal cases. An administration official gave a similar admission on Barr to The Associated Press. Barr, speaking to ABC News last week, also d...
President Trump on Tuesday accused former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg of trying to “illegally” buy the Democratic nomination for president, taking aim at the billionaire businessman’s massive self-funding operation. “What Mini Mike is doing is nothing less than a large scale illegal campaign contribution. He is ‘spreading’ money all over the place, only to have recipients of his cash payments, many former opponents, happily joining or supporting his campaign. Isn’t that called a payoff?” Trump tweeted Tuesday afternoon. “Mini is illegally buying the Democrat Nomination,” Trump tweeted, repeating his claim that the Democratic Party is trying “again” to take the election away from Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) ...
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo rebuked a group of Democratic senators on Tuesday who reportedly met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif last week on the sidelines of the annual Munich Security Conference. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) was one senator who met with Zarif, reported The Federalist. Speaking to reporters during his tour through Africa, Pompeo said that Zarif was sanctioned by the United States—a move that occurred in July. “He’s the foreign minister for a country that shot down an airliner and has yet to turn over the black boxes,” said Pompeo, referencing Tehran’s shooting down of a commercial airliner on Jan. 8, resulting in the deaths of 176 passengers. “This is the foreign minister of a country that killed an American...
Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said on Tuesday that Israel has seen signs that Iran is considering decreasing its presence in Syria. “I can inform you that we have identified first signs of Iran loosening and re-evaluating its course in Syria,” Bennett said at the New-Tech 2020 military technology conference in Tel Aviv,” reported i24 News. “They are sending forces to try to establish [presence] there and wear us down, but we can turn the disadvantage to an advantage. We have superior intelligence and operational capabilities, and we are telling Iran loud and clear: Get out of Syria! You have nothing to look for here.” Bennett said that Israel is changing its strategy from a defensive posture to an offensive one against the regime. “We are ...

An adviser to Democratic presidential hopeful Mike Bloomberg’s campaign said Tuesday that the former mayor would sell his company, Bloomberg LP, if elected president, and today he would release his tax returns as a candidate, The Hill reports. “Mike will release his tax returns,” adviser Timothy O’Brien told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. “Mike will also sell Bloomberg LP. There will be no confusion about any of his financial holdings, blurring the line between public service and personal profiteering.” The adviser sought to draw a contrast between Bloomberg and President Trump, who has faced intense scrutiny for not releasing his tax returns and for maintaining ownership of his business empire after entering office.
