Senior adviser to President Donald Trump Jared Kushner and U.S. Special Representative for International Negotiations Avi Berkowitz will not attend the gathering of world leaders at the Fifth World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem on Thursday due to bad weather.
The two were scheduled to arrive in Israel on Wednesday night straight from Davos, Switzerland, where they are taking part in the annual World Economic Forum alongside President Trump, but along with U.S. Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook could not make it to the Zurich airport on time to catch the flight to Israel due to inclement weather, and therefore a decision was made to return to the United States with Trump.

The brand new Bnos Devorah Raizel elementary girls school, currently under construction on Laurel Park Road, in South Fallsburg, NY, was destroyed by a fire this morning.
The building was almost completed, and a chanukas habayis had been planned in the near future.
The few hundred students of the school have been located in temporary trailers.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Former Vice President Al Gore says the climate crisis is intensifying “way faster” than people realize and compared the climate emergency to historic events like 9/11.
“The burden to act on the shoulders of the generation of the people alive today is a challenge to our moral imagination,” Gore said Wednesday as he delivered closing remarks at a panel session at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
“This is Thermopylae. This is Agincourt. This is Dunkirk. This is the Battle of the Bulge. This is 9/11,” Gore added about the climate crisis. “We have to rise to this occasion.”

Less than half of Americans, some 45 percent, know that 6 million Jews perished in the Holocaust, while 29 percent weren’t sure or had no answer, according to a Pew Research Center study released on Wednesday ahead of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp.
However, 69 percent of respondents correctly said that the Holocaust was between the years 1930 and 1950, while 63 percent of respondents correctly defined the Nazi-created ghettos as “parts of town where Jews were forced to live.”

I grew up in a frum home in West Hempstead New York. When I was in tenth grade I came to Eretz Yisroel for the first time on a Young Israel sponsored trip. We had one off-Shabbos which I decided to go to Tel Aviv. A friend of mine had European grandparents there, and I was happy to get around the country a bit. BALTIMORE (WBFF) - Baltimore Police Department's communications director is resigning, announced the department today.
Matt Jablow, who has been with the agency for two years, will be leaving "in the next couple of weeks."
Lindsey Eldridge will then become Acting Director of Public Affairs and Community Outreach, according to a news release.
Eldridge has been with the Mayor's Office since 2013 and has served as Community Outreach Coordinator at BPD since this past August.

TEL AVIV—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his main political rival Benny Gantz will visit the White House next week to discuss the Trump administration’s long-delayed Middle East peace plan, Vice President Mike Pence said, jolting Israel’s elections as the administration weighs whether to release the plan before the March vote.
The move comes as the White House considers moving ahead with its effort before the U.S. election season gets fully under way and as political support in Israel grows for the release of the political blueprint.

BALTIMORE — A federal judge ordered the Baltimore Police Department to send him monthly reports of the number of new hires, saying the shortage of officers is alarming.
U.S. Chief District Judge James Bredar's decision came during a hearing Wednesday on the Police Department's federal consent decree for reform.
The Baltimore Police Department has been on a hiring campaign, but the number of new officers in 2019 is less than the year before.
The shortage of police officers in Baltimore is well publicized.

Baltimore Mayor Bernard C. "Jack" Young told WBAL NewsRadio 1090 and FM 101.5's Bryan Nehman Thursday that he believes the crime plan is doing exactly what it's supposed to do.
While visiting Washington, D.C. for the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Young joined WBAL News Now with Bryan Nehman to discuss crime in the city.
Nehman asked Young if he believed Baltimore City's crime plan was working, to which Young replied, "Yes, I do."

The big-money groups aligned with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell raised $68.3 million in 2019, a record sum for a non-election year that reflected donors’ support for Senate Republicans through impeachment, judicial appointments and the 2020 elections, officials said Thursday.
The constellation of groups allied with McConnell, R-Ky., entered 2020 with $68.1 million – a larger cash reserve than in previous cycles, according to totals provided to The Washington Post.
The majority of the money raised in 2019 came in the latter half of the year, particularly in the final two months, largely spurred by the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry, officials said.

Baltimore's homicide total for 2020 is now up to 21. City Council President Brandon Scott said Wednesday that he wants to see more urgency from other city leaders.
At the start of the Board of Estimates meeting, Scott, who chairs the board, said the heightened violence shouldn't be overlooked as typical or acceptable.
"We have to do more," Scott said. "What we are doing is clearly not working."
Scott, also a candidate for mayor, said the solution to crime is multifaceted, and he criticized a decision to withdraw a $40,000 contract on the board agenda that would have paid some former "squeegee kids" to help clean up trash in areas around the city's reservoir.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is suing Hillary Clinton for defamation over the former secretary of State’s remarks on a podcast characterizing the Democratic presidential candidate as a Russian asset.
Gabbard filed the defamation lawsuit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Gabbard’s lawyers allege that Clinton’s comments have “smeared” Gabbard’s “political and personal reputation.”
“Tulsi Gabbard is a loyal American civil servant who has also dedicated her life to protecting the safety of all Americans,” Gabbard’s lawyer Brian Dunne said in a statement.
In response to the lawsuit, Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill said “that’s ridiculous.”
