United Hatzalah volunteer EMTs are currently responding to an explosion that took place near the town of Tamra that caused a large fire which included the destruction and burning of chemical tanks.
United Hatzalah regional director Naftali Rotenberg said: "United Hatzalah volunteers treated numerous people suffering various degrees of injuries as a result of the explosion. It has not yet been determined what caused the explosion. Our volunteers will be staying on the field until all the injured are treated and transported from the scene. "

The Honduran government formally declared Hezbollah a terrorist organization Monday.
“We declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization and will include it in the registry of persons and institutions linked to acts of terrorism and its financing,” said Luis Suazo, Honduras’ deputy security minister.
President Juan Orlando Hernandez announced the move early Monday morning.
“Tomorrow, coinciding with the third Western Hemisphere Counterterrorism Ministerial conference, the National Defense and Security Council of Honduras will designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization the culmination of security policies expressed over several years," Hernandez tweeted. JERUSALEM (JNS) — The mother of an Israeli-American woman currently serving a seven-and-a-half-year sentence in Russia on drug charges expressed hope on Sunday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will grant her daughter a pardon.
“I came because this is the moment of truth,” Yaffa Issachar, the mother of Naama Issachar, 27, told reporters at Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv, after arriving back in Israel from Russia ahead of Putin’s scheduled visit to Jerusalem this week.
“We’ll know this week when Naama will be released. I want to go see [Israeli] Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and show him my support. I believe that Putin will pardon her,” she said.

Iran is trying to analyze the black boxes of a Ukrainian airliner that its military shot down this month, the state IRNA news agency reported on Sunday, denying a report that a decision had been taken to send the plane’s recorders to Ukraine.
All 176 people on board the plane were killed in the Jan. 8 crash. Canada, which had 57 citizens on board, and other countries that lost nationals have said the flight data and voice recorders should be analyzed abroad.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of Rav Pesach Eliyahu Falk zt”l, noted posek and mechaber seforim. He was 78 years old. Rav Falk suffered a severe heart attack that claimed his life.

Funds reportedly passed on Sunday following meeting of defense and finance officials.
Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kohavi agreed that the IDF will receive an additional NIS 2 billion in order to kick start the military’s Momentum multi-year defense plan.
The amount was reportedly agreed upon Sunday after Kahlon, Kohavi, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett and Deputy Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir met with Accountant General Roni Hezkiah.

At least two people are dead and 15 people have been injured in a shooting in Kansas City, according to the Kansas City Police.
Officers were dispatched to the 4800 block of Noland Road in the southeastern part of the city at about 11:30 p.m. when they received reports of a shooting. They arrived to a chaotic scene outside of a crowded bar where they say one adult female was shot and killed in the parking lot.
No shots were fired by any of the responding officers.
Up to 15 people self-transported to area hospitals and three of them are currently in critical condition.

Two officers have died after a shooting on Sunday near one of Hawaii's most scenic spots, Diamond Head, where several homes were also set ablaze, officials said.
The incident unfolded at a home near the Honolulu tourist destination when authorities were responding to a domestic violence call, officials said.
Honolulu police responded to reports of a woman who was stabbed in Waikiki when the officers arriving on scene came under fire from the suspect. Police believe the suspect, who may have been using an AR-15-style rifle, is dead, but they have yet to confirm that due to the fire.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed two bills on Wednesday designed to address the rise of hate and anti-Semitism in the Garden State. The first increases security funding for nonprofits at high risk for terror attacks while the other reclassifies some hate crimes as domestic terrorism

President Trump is weighing whether to release his administration’s Mideast peace plan ahead of Israel’s March 2 general election, Hebrew-language broadcaster Channel 13 reported Sunday.

The National Science Foundation announced earlier this month that the first national U.S. observatory to be named after a female astronomer will honor Jewish scientist Vera Rubin.
The Large Synoptic Survey Telescope in Cerro Pachón, Chile, will be renamed the NSF Vera C. Rubin Observatory.
Science operations at the facility will begin in 2020.
Rubin, who died in 2016 at the age of 88, is most well-known for discovering evidence of dark matter.
The observatory renaming recognizes her role in better understanding dark matter and the study of dark energy will be one of the facility’s main research topics, along with taking an inventory of the solar system, exploring the transient optical sky and mapping the Milky Way.

Speaker of the Israeli Parliament Yuli Edelstein announced Sunday that a full debate in the Knesset plenum will be held next week on establishing a key committee that may strip away Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s immunity from prosecution.
“As I said a week ago, the process of hearing the Prime Minister’s request for immunity has become polluted,” Edelstein said in a statement, referring to his decision last week to not obstruct the establishment of the Knesset plenum despite his personal objections to the process.
The embattled prime minister is facing multiple indictments stemming from a wide-ranging corruption probe where he is accused of breaching the public trust, bribery and fraud.

Nearly half of Israeli youths in 2019 failed to enter or complete their mandatory military service in the Israeli Defense Forces, Hebrew daily Yediot Aharonot reported on Sunday.
Citing newly published data collected by the IDF, the newspaper reported that 32.9% of men received military service exemptions due to mental health reasons, with another 15% dropping out from the army in line with historical averages.
Coupled together, nearly half of men (47.9%) failed to complete their military service, raising concerns among the institution’s top brass.
