Knesset has voted to grant itself the power to pick the members for the House committee – a parliamentary body with the power to vote on the immunity request from Israel’s caretaker PM Benjamin Netanyahu.
The lawmakers with Likud and other right-wing parties stormed out of the room amid a heated debate on the legality of the gathering, paving the way to a 16-1 vote overruling a prior vote that reserved the right to pick the members of House Committee to Parliament Speaker Yuli Edelstein.
Now, the committee is set to convene later on in the day to start staffing the House Committee as Blue and White pushes the pedal to the metal on the immunity deliberations.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a recent interview that President Trump has been “impeached for life” regardless of how Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell handles the upcoming Senate trial.
“This president is impeached for life regardless of any gamesmanship on the part of Mitch McConnell,” she said during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, adding, “There is nothing the Senate can do to ever erase that.”
Pelosi’s remarks come as she continues to delay sending articles of impeachment brought against Trump, which charge him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, to the Senate since the Democratic-led voted to impeach him weeks ago.

An 80-year-old man was pronounced dead after he choked on a piece of steak in a Jerusalem restaurant on David Remez Street.
United Hatzalah volunteers rushed to the scene in order to try to resuscitate the man but unfortunately, they were unable to do so.
United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Shalom Klein was one of the first responders at the scene and relayed: "When I arrived at the scene, I found an older man who had choked on his food and lost consciousness. Together with other EMS personnel who arrived, I attempted to resuscitate the man. While we were performing CPR a piece of meat flew out of his mouth. However, at the end of extensive efforts, our attempts to resuscitate him failed and paramedics at the scene pronounced his death."

Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah called for Iran and its allies to avenge slain Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, and to begin working on the long-term goal of forcing the US out of the Middle East.
“Trump is lying to his people,” said Nasrallah. “Haj Qassem Soleimani was not planning to blow up American embassies.”
The Hezbollah leader added that Iran and its allies would avenge Soleimani in the “coming days, weeks and months,” calling the process a “long path.”
“That means that all American bases are a target.”

Former New York City Mayor and Democratic presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg declared over the weekend that he is willing to invest his entire fortune in his bid to defeat President Donald Trump in this November’s general election.
Bloomberg, one of the top-ten richest people in the US with an estimated $56 billion net worth, told Reuters Saturday that he is prepared to part with his fortune in order to “get rid of Trump”.
“Number one priority is to get rid of Donald Trump. I’m spending all my money to get rid of Trump,” Bloomberg said on his campaign bus Saturday. “Do you want me to spend more or less? End of story.”

Britain’s leading Jewish group announced on Sunday that it was issuing “Ten Pledges” the UK Labour party must take if it is to regain the trust of the country’s Jewish community.
Labour, which was resoundingly defeated in the December 2019 general election, has been wracked by antisemitism scandals since 2015, when the party’s far-left — often violently hostile toward Israel — took control of it.
Its upcoming leadership contest is expected to be a protracted and bruising battle between Labour’s far-left and centrist wings.

Video emerged on Sunday of students at Beheshti University of Tehran refusing to trample on American and Israeli flags as mass protests over the weekend threatened the stability of the ruling Iranian regime.
Trampling or burning US or Israeli flags is a common method of incitement used by the Islamic Republic. The students’ refusal to do so is in keeping with recent demonstrations, which have called for the resignation of Iran’s supreme leader, among other demands and grievances.

Four members of Iraq’s military were wounded on Sunday in a rocket attack targeting an air base just north of Baghdad where American trainers are present, Iraqi security officials said, according to The Associated Press.
At least six rockets were fired toward the base, in an attack which comes days after Iran fired ballistic missiles at two bases in Iraq that house US forces, causing no casualties.
Sunday’s attack wounded an Iraqi air force officer and three enlisted men, Iraqi security officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity in line with regulations.

Members of the U.K. Labour Party could be facing criminal charges for posting anti-Semitic messages on social media, Daily Mail reported on Wednesday.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick said on Tuesday that six people have been arrested or interviewed following a probe into social-media messages denying the Holocaust and inciting hatred against Jews. Four men and one woman who were Labour Party members have been referred to prosecutors, while another man remains under investigation.
Labour said three of the accused have left the party, but it is still trying to determine the identities of the other suspects.

Israeli Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon has decided to quit politics and his name will not be on the Likud list in the upcoming March 2 election, Globes reported on Sunday.
Kahlon served as a Likud Knesset member, communications minister and welfare and social services minister between 2003 and 2013, after which he took a short break from political life before founding the Kulanu party in 2014. After Kulanu won 10 seats in 2015 elections, Kahlon joined the coalition of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and was appointed finance minister.

President Trump noted recent polls indicating a recent surge by Sen. Bernie Sanders in a Sunday afternoon tweet.
“Wow! Crazy Bernie Sanders is surging in the polls, looking very good against his opponents in the Do Nothing Party. So what does this all mean? Stay tuned!” Trump tweeted.

Members of Israel’s Diplomatic-Security Cabinet are said to be “profoundly concerned” that the International Criminal Court will launch a war crimes investigation against Israel within 90 days and may issue secret arrest warrants against Israeli officials.
Last month, ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda announced: “I am satisfied that there is a reasonable basis to proceed with an investigation into the situation in Palestine,” adding, “There is a reasonable basis to believe that war crimes were committed in the context of the 2014 hostilities in Gaza.”

Israeli Air Force aircraft were damaged last week in southern Israel, when aircraft hangars at an military base were flooded during a storm, Channel 12 reported Sunday evening.
Multiple jet fighters were damaged in the flooding last Thursday, which left runways on the airbase swamped, along with some of the hangars.
The damage caused to the aircraft is estimated in the millions of shekels.
The report also claimed that a number of mechanics working at the base had to be rescued from the flash flood, when they found themselves suddenly immersed in flood waters as deep as a meter and a half (59 inches).
Israel’s military censor initially barred publication of the story, claiming its release could harm national security. The story was cleared for publication Sunday evening....
