President Donald Trump, who has demeaned his rivals for being laughed at around the world, found himself the scorned child on the global playground at a NATO summit here Wednesday, as widely circulated video showed leaders gossiping about and mocking him. The video, captured at a Buckingham Palace reception Tuesday evening, appeared to show Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and others laughing about Trump’s freewheeling news conferences earlier in the day. “I just watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor,” Trudeau told the others, dropping his hand toward the ground to dramatize his retelling. And so it was Wednesday morning that Trump presented a sulking, brooding president, as he slapp...
First lady Melania Trump on Wednesday tore into the expert witness at the House Judiciary Committee hearing who used her teen son Barron’s name to make a point about the president. “A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics,” the first lady tweeted Wednesday night in response to remarks by Stanford Law School professor Pamela Karlan at the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing. Karlan told the Judiciary Committee, “The Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility, so while the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron.” “Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it,” the tweet continued. Elected officials in Montgomery County, Maryland, which lies just outside of Washington, D.C., voted Tuesday to give students a day off on the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr. The change will go into effect for the 2020-2021 school year, designating May 13 as a teacher professional day so students can celebrate the holiday, the Washington Post reported. College Board, the organization that facilitates testing for Advanced Placement classes, said tests planned for May 13 will be given a second time for Montgomery County students on May 18.   Muslim parents and students pressed for the day off at a recent school board meeting, the Washington Post reported. Montgomery County makes up Maryland’s largest school system with an enrollment of more than 165,000 students, and i...
NEW YORK (AP) — The email looked legitimate, so Danielle Radin clicked on the link it contained, expecting to have her products included in a holiday gift guide. “I instantly regretted it,” says Radin, owner of Mantra Magnets, a website that sells wellness products. “It took me to some random website that looked like those pop-ups telling you that you’ve won the lottery.” Within days of that click three weeks ago, Radin began getting notifications that people in Ecuador, China and elsewhere were trying to access her email account. She wasn’t surprised; she knew her San Diego-based small business had been the target of a phishing scam. While cybercriminals strike at any time of the year, they’re particularly active during the holiday and in...
ILLINOIS (JNS) Holocaust denier and neo-Nazi Arthur Jones has filed to again run for the Republican nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives in the Illinois 3rd Congressional District. Real estate broker Catherine O’Shea and Will County board member Mike Fricilone have also filed to run in the Republican primary. Fricilone told The Chicago Sun Times, “It is unfortunate that we have someone with his views and thoughts that runs.” He said he filed “to have a credible candidate” on the ballot. Jones, who was once a member of the American Nazi Party, received 57,885 votes, losing in 2018 against incumbent Democratic Rep. Dan Lipinski, as no other Republican entered the primary in the heavily Democratic congressional district. “If I really believ...
Israel’s Defense Minister Naftali Bennett on Tuesday signed a ministerial decree imposing financial sanctions on a London-based terror suspect believed to have ties to Hamas. The decree states that all of Mohammed Jamil Mahmoud Hersh’s assets in Israel are to be frozen, while foreign institutions operating in Israel risk fines for doing business with him. Hersh, a Hamas activist deported from Israel in 1992, is currently living in the UK, where he works for the Arab Organization for Human Rights in the UK, a charity affiliated with Hamas. The decree was issued in accordance with Israel’s Counterterrorism Law. During a visit to Israel’s Hatzor air base on Tuesday, Bennett said, “Today, we are embarking on an extensive economic campaign against activists from...
It was the latest in a series of anti-Semitic incidents in the region. PARIS — Dozens of graves in the Jewish cemetery in the small Alsatian village of Westhoffen have been found daubed with swastikas and anti-Semitic graffiti, the latest in a series of cemetery and synagogue profanations in the region. The historic cemetery, which dates to the 16th century and houses the graves of the families of Karl Marx and former French prime ministers Leon Blum and Michel Debré, is the third Jewish cemetery in Alsace to be desecrated in the last year, according to the authorities. The police discovered the desecrated Westhoffen graves — about 107 of them — on Tuesday, and on Wednesday the French interior minister visited, vowing to redouble efforts to find t...

Congressman Devin Nunes speaks out about his defamation lawsuit against CNN on ‘Hannity.’
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) over the weekend compared the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border to that of Gaza and Israel. “Do you know what I saw at the border? I saw Gaza,” said Tlaib, the first Palestinian American woman in Congress, during her keynote address on Saturday at the American Muslims for Palestine conference in Chicago. “When you think about the border, you have to got to understand how interconnected the oppression in Palestine is with the oppression taking place at the border.” She also said that she’s advocating for clean water in her Michigan district and “fighting for clean water in Gaza.” More than 3,500 people were at the three-day event, according to organizers. Another speaker, Linda Sarsour, a surrogate for the Democrat...
Leviathan, Israel’s largest offshore natural-gas field, will start supplying the local market by the end of December, followed by exports to Egypt and Jordan soon after, Reuters reported on Monday. “Within two to three weeks, we will open the wells and start to supply the gas,” said Binyamin Zomer, vice president for regional affairs at Texas-based Noble Energy. “Before the end of the year, we will start supplying the domestic market, and in the weeks right after that, we will export to Egypt and Jordan,” Zomer told the annual Israel Energy and Business Convention, according to the report. Noble Energy discovered the Leviathan field, located in the Mediterranean Sea off the coast of Haifa, in 2010.

HOUSTON (AP) — A local judge in South Texas has ordered supporters of President Donald Trump not to build their planned private border wall on a section of land near the Rio Grande. State District Judge Keno Vasquez on Tuesday issued a temporary restraining order against We Build the Wall, which raised $25 million after promising to build its own private barrier. Vasquez set a Dec. 17 hearing for We Build the Wall and its founder, Brian Kolfage, to appear in court in the South Texas city of Edinburg. We Build the Wall announced on Facebook last month that it was starting construction on private land next to the Rio Grande, the river that separates the U.S. and Mexico in Texas. It posted videos that showed a construction foreman describing plans to install posts a short distance fro...
JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Veteran Israeli journalist Carmela Menashe supposedly dropped a bombshell Tuesday morning when she reported that the IDF had inflated the numbers of Chareidi recruits enlisting each year in order to meet prearranged government quotas. Menashe claimed that the IDF’s Haredi recruitment division allegedly “forged” the numbers by counting the religious (who are not ultra-Orthodox), and sometimes even secular, recruits in order to meet the needed criteria. For example, in 2017 the official number of Haredi recruits (as reported by the IDF) stood at 3,070, only 130 fewer than the recruitment target of 3,200 set by the government in 2016.  In reality, however, only 1,300 soldiers were in fact ultra-Orthodox, less than double the reported figure....
Political officials seek to have president pardon incumbent prime minister in exchange for his stepping down from political life. A group of political leaders who are not acting in coordination with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu have proposed an outline under which the prime minister would retire from politics in exchange for a presidential pardon, Channel 12 News reported Wednesday evening. Under the outline, President Reuven Rivlin would grant a broad pardon to Netanyahu if he admits to the indictments filed against him and declares he is retiring from political life. On Tuesday, Attorney General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit sent an updated indictment to Prime Minister Netanyahu. The updated indictment revealed the district court to which the indictment will be filed, t...

HEVRON (VINnews) — The Israeli Defense Ministry and the Civil Administration in Judea and Samaria are moving forward with plans to renovate part of the Machpela Cave in Hevron, including making the  site wheelchairs-accessible. The plans are being promoted despite objections by the Waqf, or Islamic trust, which co-manages the site along with the Israeli chief rabbinate. The Hevron municipality, which is controlled by the PA, is officially responsible for the site but has consistently blocked attempts to renovate it over the years, despite repeated requests by the local Jewish community. At present the Defense Ministry is expected to expropriate the land around the complex from the Arab municipality of Hevron and the Waqf. The Tourism Ministry is providing half a million shekel...
