The Nasdaq secured a fresh record while the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 closed just shy of one after President Trump touted the benefits that his pro-American policies have had on the U.S. economy. Trump, speaking at the Economic Club of New York, said: “We have ended the war on American workers, we have stopped the assault on American industry, and we have launched an economic boom the likes of which we have never seen before" while also noting the record run the U.S. stock market is having. He also addressed his progress on redoing trade deals with the likes of China as well as the United States Mexico Canada trade agreement or USMCA. He also applauded his record on job creation. Traders continue to keep a close eye on U.S.-Chin...

The federal trial of political trickster Roger Stone is set to resume Tuesday as former Trump campaign staffer Rick Gates is expected to testify for the prosecution and the focus returns to calls Stone made to members of then-presidential candidate Donald Trump’s election operation. Former Trump campaign CEO Steve Bannon told the federal jury in Washington last week that Stone was seen as an “access point” to WikiLeaks, with knowledge about the release of hacked emails damaging to Hillary Clinton’s candidacy. But Bannon said he never asked Stone to contact WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, nor was he aware of anyone else on the campaign reaching out to the anti-secrecy group. Stone, 67, has pleaded not guilty to lying to Congress about his efforts to learn more ab...
President Reuven Rivlin addressed the rocket fire Tuesday from the Gaza Strip toward Israel, sought to strengthen the political echelon and called for avoiding political clashes. ”May the hands of all the security forces be strengthened – the efforts to succeed this morning have been a long time in the making. I know that before their eyes, and the eyes of the Israeli government that approved the operation, is Israel’s security only,” Rivlin said. “This is not a time for political clashes and they do not add honor to anyone who deals in them – it is time to stop making such statements immediately,” the president emphasized. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court said Tuesday that a survivor and relatives of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting can pursue their lawsuit against the maker of the rifle used to kill 26 people. The justices rejected an appeal from Remington Arms, which argued it should be shielded by a 2005 federal law preventing most lawsuits against firearms manufacturers when their products are used in crimes. The case is being watched by gun control advocates, gun rights supporters and gun manufacturers across the country because it has the potential to provide a roadmap for victims of other mass shootings to circumvent the federal law and sue the makers of firearms. The court’s order allows the lawsuit filed in Connecticut state court by a survivor and relatives of ...
Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, widow of Maryland 7th District Rep. Elijah Cummings, will run for her late husband's seat, she announced Monday. She also said she will undergo preventative surgery Friday. Cummings, who announced her candidacy Monday night on MSNBC prior to an official Tuesday kickoff event, resigned Monday as chair of the state Democratic Party. "I want to represent the issues," she told supporters Tuesday. "I want to represent Elijah and I want to carry his legacy forward and build upon that legacy." However, Cummings will not be active on the campaign trail in the early weeks. She is set to undergo a preventative double mastectomy Friday, as her mother recently died of cancer.  Although the recovery period for the surgery is two to four weeks, Cummings said ...
GAZA CITY (AP) – An Israel airstrike in the Gaza Strip has killed Bahaa Abu el-Atta, a senior militant with the Islamic Jihad group, setting off the worst bout of fighting in recent months. Israeli officials described el-Atta as the mastermind of recent attacks against Israel and the militant group’s top commander in Gaza. Tuesday’s violence marked the latest in a long history of fighting between Israel and Islamic Jihad, an armed group that is backed by Iran. Here’s a look at the Islamic Jihad movement: SECOND FIDDLE Islamic Jihad is the smaller of the two main Palestinian militant groups in the Gaza Strip, and is vastly outnumbered by the ruling Hamas group. But it enjoys direct Iranian backing, both financially and militarily, and has become the driving force ...
BRUSSELS (AP ) – The European Union’s top court ruled Tuesday that EU countries must identify products made in Israeli settlements on their labels, in a decision that was welcomed by rights groups but sparked anger in Israel. The European Court of Justice said that when products come from an Israeli settlement, their labels must provide an “indication of that provenance” so that consumers can make “informed choices” when they shop. The EU rejects Israeli settlement expansion, saying it undermines the hopes for a two-state solution by gobbling up lands claimed by the Palestinians. Israel says the labeling is unfair and discriminatory and says other countries involved in disputes over land are not similarly sanctioned. The volume of settlement goods com...
WASHINGTON (AP) — White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney said Tuesday that he no longer plans to sue over the House impeachment proceedings and will instead follow President Donald Trump’s directions and decline to cooperate. It’s the latest reversal in position by Mulvaney, who last week asked to join the lawsuit of another Trump adviser before changing his mind Monday and saying that he intended to bring his own case. It appears to resolve once and for all a four-day legal dispute that exposed divisions among current and former Trump administration officials about how best to respond to Democratic demands for cooperation and testimony. In a court filing Tuesday, one day before the impeachment inquiry enters a critical phase of public hearings, Mulvaney said h...

Amazon.com plans to launch a new supermarket brand distinct from the Whole Foods Market chain the company acquired two years ago, a sign of the retail giant’s hunger for a slice of the grocery market beyond high-end organic food. The company has posted four job listings for “Amazon’s first grocery store” in the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. An Amazon spokeswoman confirmed the listings and said the store would open in 2020. The brand will be distinct from Whole Foods and will have a conventional checkout line, unlike the company’s cashierless Amazon Go convenience stores, she said. Amazon’s plans for the store were reported earlier Monday by CNET. The e-commerce company purchased Whole Foods in a splashy $13.7 billion deal two years ago bu...
CBS acting Chief Executive Officer Joe Ianniello is in line for a hefty haul when Viacom completes its proposed merger with the broadcast network. While he won’t get to lead the combined entity, he’ll collect $100 million severance and remain chief of CBS with a new contract entitling him to tens of millions of dollars more. The arrangement illustrates the extent of CBS’s effort to persuade Ianniello, a 22-year company veteran, to support the tie-up without having a shot at the top job. It’s yet another example of the extravagant compensation practices of the billionaire Redstone family, which controls both Viacom and CBS and has for years heaped money on executives at a rate rivaling Silicon Valley’s tech giants. Ianniello, a Moonves protege who joined th...
Former secretary of state Rex Tillerson denied Monday that he sought to undermine or work against President Donald Trump, as former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley claims in a new memoir of her time in the administration. “During my service to our country as the Secretary of State, at no time did I, nor to my direct knowledge did anyone else serving along with me, take any actions to undermine the President,” Tillerson said in a statement to The Washington Post. “My conversations with the President in the privacy of the Oval Office were always candid, frank, and my recommendations straightforward. Once the President made a decision, we at the State Department undertook our best efforts to implement that decision,” Tillerson said. “Ambassador Haley was rarely a p...
The Israeli envoy to the UN calls on the United Nations Security Council to condemn the rocket fire from the Gaza Strip toward Israel. “Nine million citizens are facing an insufferable terror attack by terror groups. I expect a clear and unequivocal condemnation of the side responsible for this and not a statement calling for both sides to act with restraint. The time has come for the international community to understand that silence is a prize for terror,” Ambassador Danny Danon says in a statement. Danon adds: “Israel is not interested in an escalation but will lead the campaign against terror with determination and strength.” Read more at Times of Israel.
Israel is bracing for continued violence as it carried out three waves of retaliatory strikes after the country was pounded by some 150 rockets on Tuesday morning following the predawn targeted killing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Leader Bahaa Abu Al-Ata the Gaza Strip. The military said that all the airstrikes in the first wave targeted PIJ underground facilities used for storage and manufacturing of weapons and training camps. These sites were critical facilities for the group which invested large sums of money to construct. The second wave targeted training compounds, including one used by PIJ’s naval commando unit, the shaft of a cross-border attack tunnel and a tunnel digging site. IDF tanks struck also two outposts and IAF jets also struck several PIJ...
Jordan’s former foreign minister said last week that without a two-state solution Jordan’s national security is at risk, requiring a reexamination of its 1994 peace treaty with Israel. In an interview with the Jordan’s Al-Mamlaka TV that aired on Thursday, former Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher said that in light of the crisis in Syria, which saw six million Syrians leave their home country in six months, it can no longer be claimed that the expulsion of the Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan is inconceivable. Muasher, who served as the first Jordanian ambassador to Israel, also said during the interview that he was still “haunted” by that experience, adding that he has not engaged in any normalization with Israel or visited it in ...
Unfortunately, 194 missiles were launched towards Israel since this morning and thankfully the Iron Dome had a 90% success rate. However, Hamas is threatening to escalate the violence towards Israel with all their capacities. There are current threats for missiles towards Jerusalem. United Hatzalah of Israel is preparing for this- our Command Center is ready for escalation and our underground bomb shelter is in full operation should they need to move downstairs.

EXCLUSIVE: A newly filed complaint to the Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) alleges that the whistleblower whose allegations touched off House Democrats' impeachment inquiry may have violated federal law by indirectly soliciting more than a quarter-million dollars from mostly anonymous sources via a GoFundMe page. The complaint, which was filed last week and obtained by Fox News, alleged the donations from roughly 6,000 individuals "clearly constitute" gifts to a current intelligence official that may be restricted because of the employee's official position pursuant to 5 CFR 2635.203 and other statutes. To date, the GoFundMe has raised over $227,000. The complaint also raised the possibility that some of the donations ...
