Amazon.com plans to launch a new supermarket brand distinct from the Whole Foods Market chain the company acquired two years ago, a sign of the retail giant’s hunger for a slice of the grocery market beyond high-end organic food.
The company has posted four job listings for “Amazon’s first grocery store” in the Woodland Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles. An Amazon spokeswoman confirmed the listings and said the store would open in 2020. The brand will be distinct from Whole Foods and will have a conventional checkout line, unlike the company’s cashierless Amazon Go convenience stores, she said. CBS acting Chief Executive Officer Joe Ianniello is in line for a hefty haul when Viacom completes its proposed merger with the broadcast network.
While he won’t get to lead the combined entity, he’ll collect $100 million severance and remain chief of CBS with a new contract entitling him to tens of millions of dollars more.
The arrangement illustrates the extent of CBS’s effort to persuade Ianniello, a 22-year company veteran, to support the tie-up without having a shot at the top job.
It’s yet another example of the extravagant compensation practices of the billionaire Redstone family, which controls both Viacom and CBS and has for years heaped money on executives at a rate rivaling Silicon Valley’s tech giants.

Former secretary of state Rex Tillerson denied Monday that he sought to undermine or work against President Donald Trump, as former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley claims in a new memoir of her time in the administration.
“During my service to our country as the Secretary of State, at no time did I, nor to my direct knowledge did anyone else serving along with me, take any actions to undermine the President,” Tillerson said in a statement to The Washington Post.

The Israeli envoy to the UN calls on the United Nations Security Council to condemn the rocket fire from the Gaza Strip toward Israel.
“Nine million citizens are facing an insufferable terror attack by terror groups. I expect a clear and unequivocal condemnation of the side responsible for this and not a statement calling for both sides to act with restraint. The time has come for the international community to understand that silence is a prize for terror,” Ambassador Danny Danon says in a statement.
Danon adds: “Israel is not interested in an escalation but will lead the campaign against terror with determination and strength.”

Israel is bracing for continued violence as it carried out three waves of retaliatory strikes after the country was pounded by some 150 rockets on Tuesday morning following the predawn targeted killing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Leader Bahaa Abu Al-Ata the Gaza Strip.
The military said that all the airstrikes in the first wave targeted PIJ underground facilities used for storage and manufacturing of weapons and training camps. These sites were critical facilities for the group which invested large sums of money to construct.The second wave targeted training compounds, including one used by PIJ’s naval commando unit, the shaft of a cross-border attack tunnel and a tunnel digging site.

Jordan’s former foreign minister said last week that without a two-state solution Jordan’s national security is at risk, requiring a reexamination of its 1994 peace treaty with Israel.
In an interview with the Jordan’s Al-Mamlaka TV that aired on Thursday, former Jordanian Foreign Minister Marwan Muasher said that in light of the crisis in Syria, which saw six million Syrians leave their home country in six months, it can no longer be claimed that the expulsion of the Palestinians from the West Bank to Jordan is inconceivable.

Unfortunately, 194 missiles were launched towards Israel since this morning and thankfully the Iron Dome had a 90% success rate. However, Hamas is threatening to escalate the violence towards Israel with all their capacities. There are current threats for missiles towards Jerusalem. United Hatzalah of Israel is preparing for this- our Command Center is ready for escalation and our underground bomb shelter is in full operation should they need to move downstairs.

EXCLUSIVE: A newly filed complaint to the Intelligence Community Inspector General (ICIG) alleges that the whistleblower whose allegations touched off House Democrats' impeachment inquiry may have violated federal law by indirectly soliciting more than a quarter-million dollars from mostly anonymous sources via a GoFundMe page.
The complaint, which was filed last week and obtained by Fox News, alleged the donations from roughly 6,000 individuals "clearly constitute" gifts to a current intelligence official that may be restricted because of the employee's official position pursuant to 5 CFR 2635.203 and other statutes. BALTIMORE (WBFF) - A man was injured in a shooting at a gas station on Reisterstown Road in northwest Baltimore tonight, confirmed police.
Officers responded to an Exxon gas station near Labyrinth Road at about 9:13 p.m.
They found a 23-year-old man who was shot in the arm and back. He was conscious and alert, and was taken to an area hospital.
Police don't have any suspect information.

Israeli tanks attacked three Islamic Jihad military posts in the Gaza Strip Tuesday afternoon.
An IDF spokesperson stated: "A short while ago, IDF tanks targeted three PIJ military posts in the Gaza Strip."
The Israeli Air Force has also bombed numerous Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza in response to the firing of dozens of rockets by the terrorist organization.

Three people were injured when a rocket landed near some cars on an access road between Gan Yavneh to Ashdod. United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Baruch Friedman related from the scene: "Together with other EMS volunteers who arrived, I treated two men who were in their vehicle when the rocket landed. They suffered light injuries from shrapnel caused by the rocket landing. I also treated one woman who was suffering from emotional shock. The rocket landed in close proximity to two vehicles on the road."

JERUSALEM (VosIzNeias)— Approximately 70 rockets were fired at Israel Tuesday morning after the elimination of Baha Abu al-Ata, a senior Islamic Jihad terrorist in a nighttime attack by Israel. There were no casualties but 3 people were lightly injured, two suffering from shock and a third while he was running to a bomb shelter.
Al-Ata, who led Islamic Jihad’s Al Quds Brigades’ Gaza branch, and his wife were both killed in the attack.
