Israel was preparing for several days of fighting after over 160 rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into the Jewish state Tuesday following the targeted assassination of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) Leader Bahaa Abu Al-Ata in a precision Israeli airstrike.
As of 2:30 p.m. Israel time, the IDF was reporting more than 160 rocket launches and over 50 interceptions.

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (Keren L'Yedidut) has launched an operation to distribute hundreds of protective vests to emergency response units operating in the Gaza Envelope as well as to rescue and civilian-assistance agencies in the southern region. The undertaking on the part of The Fellowship was prepared in accordance with a program that was arranged in advance and in coordination with the Home Front Command and the heads of authorities in relevant areas. It was tailored to meet the specific needs that were defined by the respective security officer in each locality.

Israeli tanks attacked three Islamic Jihad military posts in the Gaza Strip Tuesday afternoon.
An IDF spokesperson stated: "A short while ago, IDF tanks targeted three PIJ military posts in the Gaza Strip."
The Israeli Air Force has also bombed numerous Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza in response to the firing of dozens of rockets by the terrorist organization.
"IDF fighter jets and aircraft recently struck a number of PIJ terror targets in the Gaza Strip. Three people were injured when a rocket landed near some cars on an access road between Gan Yavneh to Ashdod. United Hatzalah volunteer EMT Baruch Friedman related from the scene: "Together with other EMS volunteers who arrived, I treated two men who were in their vehicle when the rocket landed. They suffered light injuries from shrapnel caused by the rocket landing. I also treated one woman who was suffering from emotional shock. The rocket landed in close proximity to two vehicles on the road."

JERUSALEM(VosIzNeias) — In the wake of the the airstrike which killed Islamic Jihad leader Bahaa Abu el-Att at 4 A.M. Tuesday, the organization responded with heavy rocket salvos towards Israeli cities. A house in Sderot received a direct hit but there were no casualties.
At 6 A.M. sirens were sounded in Ashdod, the Gedera local authority and the Lachish region. Later sirens sounded in Ashkelon, Zikim and Sderot, as well as in Tel Aviv, Holon and Rishon Letzion.

JERUSALEM (VosIzNeias)— Approximately 70 rockets were fired at Israel Tuesday morning after the elimination of Baha Abu al-Ata, a senior Islamic Jihad terrorist in a nighttime attack by Israel. There were no casualties but 3 people were lightly injured, two suffering from shock and a third while he was running to a bomb shelter.
Al-Ata, who led Islamic Jihad’s Al Quds Brigades’ Gaza branch, and his wife were both killed in the attack.
Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system, which protects heavily populated civilian centers, fired approximately 20 missiles at incoming rockets. One rocket exploded on a busy road near Ashdod, narrowly missing a passing car (see video below)

Senior Islamic Jihad commander Baha Abu al-Ata was targeted overnight in Gaza (https://twitter.com/IDF/status/1194093666069045249). He was responsible for many terrorist attacks and the firing of rockets at the State of Israel in recent months and had intended to carry out imminent attacks.The IDF action was recommended by the IDF Chief-of-Staff and ISA Director and was approved by the Prime Minister and Defense Minister after it had been presented to – and approved by – the Security Cabinet.

In a joint operation by the IDF and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), a building in the Gaza Strip, in which the Palestinian Islamic Jihad senior leader Baha Abu Al Ata stayed in, was attacked overnight Monday.
The operation was authorized by the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Binyamin Netanyahu.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said Abu Al Ata was responsible for most of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s activity in the Gaza Strip and was a “ticking bomb”. State Sen. Jill Carter said Monday she plans to announce at a fundraiser Nov. 18 whether she will run for U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings' seat.
Carter, a Baltimore City Democrat, formed an exploratory committee after Cummings' death last month.
The filing deadline is Nov. 20. As of Monday, three Republicans and eight Democrats have filed to run and several more have announced their campaigns.

The Maryland Democratic Party announced Monday night that party Chair Maya Rockeymoore-Cummings is resigning.State Sen. and party Vice Chair Cory McCray, of Baltimore, will serve as the interim party chair.

WASHINGTON (AP) – Some good health news: Americans’ cholesterol levels are dropping, and more people at especially high risk are getting treatment.
Researchers say Monday’s report suggests a controversial change in recommendations for cholesterol treatment may be starting to pay off.
“It is very heartening,” said Dr. Pankaj Arora of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, who led the study. “But there is more to do.”

Former President Jimmy Carter has been hospitalized for a procedure to reduce pressure on his brain.
Carter, 95, was admitted to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta on Monday, with an operation scheduled for Tuesday morning, according to a statement from The Carter Center.
The statement said the pressure on his brain has been caused by bleeding “due to his recent falls”.
“President Carter is resting comfortably, and his wife, Rosalynn, is with him,” the statement concluded.
Carter, whose birthday was Oct. 1, is the longest-living U.S. president in history.
The former president suffered injuries in a fall at his home last month that required received stitches above his brow. He also broke his hip after suffering a fall in his home this past May while ready...

A BASE IN EASTERN SYRIA (AP) — At a base in eastern Syria, a senior U.S. coalition commander said Monday that American troops who remain in Syria are redeploying to bases, including in some new locations, and working with the Kurdish-led forces to keep up the pressure on the Islamic State militants and prevent the extremists from resurging or breaking out of prisons.

New Right Party leader Naftali Bennett will be sworn in as Israel’s 20th Defense Minister on Tuesday at 11 a.m., at which point the resignation of the current defense minister—Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—will go into effect.
Netanyahu took over the post on Nov. 14, 2018, after Avigdor Lieberman resigned in protest over a ceasefire with Hamas.
Though incoming defense ministers are usually welcomed with a ceremony that includes an honor guard and reception, Bennett has opted to get to work right away, “addressing the serious challenges that lay ahead of us.”
