A group of neighborhood youths went on an egging spree on Motzei Shabbos around Dahill Road in Boro Park, hitting multiple Jewish buildings. The targets included a shul, a girls’ school, a bus, and multiple residences. One incident caught on surveillance footage occurred at Khal Bnei Torah Sanz on Dahill Rd, near Cortelyou Rd and 37th St, shortly after Shabbos while mispalelim were still present. Multiple security cameras captured the group passing the shul and pausing to taunt the people inside. When the shul’s door was opened, they hurled an egg as they made their escape. Shomrim was called and arrived shortly thereafter on the scene. Another location that was targeted nearby was the Belzer girls’ school. The attacks fit a pattern of ha...
Israel’s Supreme Court of Justice has approved the extradition of Russian hacker, Alexei Burkov, to the US, rejecting his request to either be extradited or to serve his potential jail time in Russia. Last month the justice ministry finalized the extradition of Alexei Burkov, who has been held in Israeli custody since 2015, without providing a date. Burkov appealed the decision to the supreme court, asking that he be sent to Moscow, or that his extradition to the US be conditioned on him serving any future prison term in Russia. They noted that the decision to extradite him was made “after a deep and exhaustive examination of all the considerations”. Read more at i24NEWS.
Iran is acknowledging for the first time it has an open case before its Revolutionary Court over the 2007 disappearance of former FBI agent Robert Levinson, The Associated Press reported Saturday. In a filing to the United Nations, Iran said the case over Levinson was “ongoing,” without elaborating. It was not immediately clear how long the case had been open, nor the circumstances by which it started. Levinson vanished in Iran in 2007 while on an unauthorized CIA mission and remains missing. In the past, Iran insisted that Levinson is not in the country and that it has no further information about him. Read more at Arutz Sheva.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas and Jewish Agency chairman Isaac Herzog attended a Thursday-night memorial service at the synagogue in Halle, Germany, which one month ago was the target of an anti-Semitic attack on Yom Kippur. Unable to enter the synagogue thanks to recently installed security cameras, doors and locks sponsored by the Jewish Agency’s Security Assistance Fund and the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the attacker killed two non-Jewish passersby in the vicinity as 60 worshippers were on lockdown in the synagogue for five hours. “What happened here was tragic,” said Pompeo. “The world recognized that; [U.S.] President [Donald] Trump recognized that and has put a major focus on stamping out anti-Semitism wherever we find ...

RICHMOND, VA (AP) – Virginia’s House of Delegates is expected to soon have its first female speaker in its 400-year history, as the chamber’s incoming Democrats chose a veteran legislator for the post Saturday. Democratic delegates for the upcoming session picked Del. Eileen Filler-Corn of Fairfax County as their nominee. Filler-Corn’s election as speaker on the session’s first day in January is anticipated because Democrats on Tuesday won a majority in the state House for the first time in two decades. Republicans lost their slim seat advantages in both the state House and Senate , giving Democrats led by Gov. Ralph Northam the ability to pass stricter gun laws and a higher minimum wage, as well as change rules barring the removal of Confederate war memori...
WASHINGTON (AP) – Michael Bloomberg plans to skip early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire if he launches a presidential bid and instead focus his efforts on the crush of states that vote on Super Tuesday and beyond. It’s a strategy that acknowledges the limitations of entering the race at this late stage and the opportunities afforded by the billionaire’s vast personal wealth. Bloomberg adviser Howard Wolfson says other candidates already have a big head start in the first four states to vote — Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina — and Bloomberg needs to be realistic about where he can make up ground. “If we run, we are confident we can win in states voting on Super Tuesday and beyond, where we will start on an even footing,” W...
ORLEANS COUNTY, NY (AP) – Three middle-school students have been charged with plotting to kill multiple people at their upstate New York school with guns and explosives, authorities said Friday. The Albion Middle School students were arrested Thursday after investigators determined a threat that started on an online gaming app was credible, Albion Police Chief Roland Nenni said by phone. The students, all under 16 years old, are charged as juveniles with conspiracy to commit multiple murders, he said. Their names and ages weren’t released. “They had a date set,” Nenni said. “The plan was to use explosives, incendiary devices and firearms to kill and injure students and staff in the Albion Middle School.” He said officers recovered electronics and som...
JERUSALEM (JNS) — NATO has recognized the Israeli Navy as a key medical-assistance partner in the Mediterranean following a drill held last month practicing emergency evacuations of personnel. During the drill, dubbed “Crystal Sea 2020” and held on Oct. 31, NATO vessels from the United Kingdom, Greece, Romania and Bulgaria simulated medical emergencies at sea with the Israeli Navy. “It was an example of partnership between the Israeli Navy and NATO. This is the second joint exercise of its kind between NATO maritime forces and the IDF,” said Capt. Yuval Ayalon, who heads the Planning and Organization Department in the Navy. Two NATO helicopters practiced flying personnel from ships at sea to Haifa’s Rambam Hospital, said Ayalon. In addition, an Israel...
NEW YORK (VosIzNeias)—  Music-video app TikTok , which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance Inc., is at the center of a US Government national security review according to a person familiar with the investigation. TikTok,  a lip-synching app that boasts over 500 million users worldwide, has been downloaded over 110 million times in the US alone. However Senators Chuck Schumer and Tom Cotton wrote a letter last week to the US Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire, stating that the app’s popularity creates ”national security risks,” as it is seen as a way to gather data on US citizens as well as influencing future campaigns in the US. Senator Marco Rubio wrote to the Treasury Department earlier last month asking to review ByteDance&rsquo...
UNITED NATIONS (AP) – U.N. rights experts say Egypt’s ex-President Mohammed Morsi endured “brutal” prison conditions that contributed to his death in custody. They also warn that thousands more prisoners are “at severe risk” from “gross violations” in Egyptian prisons. Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president, was from the Islamist, now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood. He was ousted by the military in 2013, after protests. He’d been jailed for six years until his death in a Cairo court while on trial. Friday’s statement by The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights says the experts concluded that conditions Morsi endured “could amount to a state-sanctioned arbitrary killing.” ...
Once a staunch pro-Israel Illinois congressman between 2011 and 2013, Joe Walsh launched this past summer a long-shot Republican primary challenge to U.S. President Donald Trump, whom many have deemed to be the most pro-Israel figure ever in the White House. After losing re-election in 2012, Walsh, 57, hosted a radio show until he announced his candidacy. He and his wife, Helene, have five children. JNS talked with Walsh by phone on Nov. 1. The interview has been edited for brevity and clarity. Q: How can you get support from pro-Israel Republicans, including the Republican Jewish Coalition, who have overwhelmingly supported the president’s Israel policies? A: I may not. That’s not why I’m running. This is not about issues to me. This is about ...
Former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci said late Friday that there is “no question” that Michael Bloomberg would be “the No. 1 threat” to President Trump should the former New York City mayor enter the 2020 Democratic presidential primary. “I think the president would be very intimidated by a guy like Michael Bloomberg,” Scaramucci told CNN’s Chris Cuomo. “He’s a New Yorker. He could stand the onslaught of the president’s bullying. He’s worth probably five to eight times the president’s net worth. He could spend a fortune defending himself and getting ads up in all areas of the country.” “And if Mike Bloomberg got the nomination, it’s very clear to me that he would beat Trump,...
Avigdor Liberman, chief of Yisrael Beiteinu party, told Channel 12 on Saturday he was willing to back whoever would sign up to President Rivlin’s unity plan, whether it is Likud or Blue and White. He said he would call on Prime Minister-designate Benny Gantz to accept the compromise on rotation and urge interim Prime Minister Netanyahu break the ties with the religious-right bloc. Whoever heed his call would have Yisrael Beiteinu’s support, he pledged, which, hypothetically, means that Liberman is ready to side either with charedi parties backing Likud – or a possible center-left bloc led by Gantz. President Trump said Saturday he will “probably” release the transcript of another phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week as the House impeachment investigation enters a new, public phase. Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews that he will likely release the transcript Tuesday of a conversation he had with Zelensky in April, three months before a second conversation the two leaders had that is now at the heart of the impeachment inquiry. “They want to have a transcript of the other call, the second call, and I’m willing to provide that,” Trump said Saturday. “You’ll read the second call, and you’ll tell me if there’s anything wrong with it.” Trump has maintained that his July call with Zelensky wa...

New police statistics show an increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes targeting Jewish riders on New York City subways, The City reported on Wednesday. Since Oct. 20, the New York Police Department has logged 42 hate-crime complaints involving anti-Semitic acts in the subway—a 162 percent increase over similar incidents reported through that same date in 2018. The incidents include a June 13 encounter at a station in Brooklyn in which a 26-year-old man allegedly yelled “Heil, Hitler!” and “All Jews must die!” at a 33-year-old man before grabbing the latter’s phone and flinging it at an incoming train, according to the Brooklyn district attorney’s office. MTA data obtained by The City showed 13 instances through Oct. 23 where the discovery of the ha...
