WASHINGTON (AP) – Michael Bloomberg plans to skip early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire if he launches a presidential bid and instead focus his efforts on the crush of states that vote on Super Tuesday and beyond. It’s a strategy that acknowledges the limitations of entering the race at this late stage and the opportunities afforded by the billionaire’s vast personal wealth.
Bloomberg adviser Howard Wolfson says other candidates already have a big head start in the first four states to vote — Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina — and Bloomberg needs to be realistic about where he can make up ground.

ORLEANS COUNTY, NY (AP) – Three middle-school students have been charged with plotting to kill multiple people at their upstate New York school with guns and explosives, authorities said Friday.
The Albion Middle School students were arrested Thursday after investigators determined a threat that started on an online gaming app was credible, Albion Police Chief Roland Nenni said by phone.
The students, all under 16 years old, are charged as juveniles with conspiracy to commit multiple murders, he said. Their names and ages weren’t released.
“They had a date set,” Nenni said. “The plan was to use explosives, incendiary devices and firearms to kill and injure students and staff in the Albion Middle School.”

JERUSALEM (JNS) — NATO has recognized the Israeli Navy as a key medical-assistance partner in the Mediterranean following a drill held last month practicing emergency evacuations of personnel.
During the drill, dubbed “Crystal Sea 2020” and held on Oct. 31, NATO vessels from the United Kingdom, Greece, Romania and Bulgaria simulated medical emergencies at sea with the Israeli Navy.
“It was an example of partnership between the Israeli Navy and NATO. This is the second joint exercise of its kind between NATO maritime forces and the IDF,” said Capt. Yuval Ayalon, who heads the Planning and Organization Department in the Navy.

NEW YORK (VosIzNeias)— Music-video app TikTok , which is owned by Chinese company ByteDance Inc., is at the center of a US Government national security review according to a person familiar with the investigation.
TikTok, a lip-synching app that boasts over 500 million users worldwide, has been downloaded over 110 million times in the US alone. However Senators Chuck Schumer and Tom Cotton wrote a letter last week to the US Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire, stating that the app’s popularity creates ”national security risks,” as it is seen as a way to gather data on US citizens as well as influencing future campaigns in the US.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) – U.N. rights experts say Egypt’s ex-President Mohammed Morsi endured “brutal” prison conditions that contributed to his death in custody.
They also warn that thousands more prisoners are “at severe risk” from “gross violations” in Egyptian prisons. Morsi, Egypt’s first democratically elected president, was from the Islamist, now outlawed Muslim Brotherhood. He was ousted by the military in 2013, after protests. He’d been jailed for six years until his death in a Cairo court while on trial.
Friday’s statement by The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights says the experts concluded that conditions Morsi endured “could amount to a state-sanctioned arbitrary killing.”

Once a staunch pro-Israel Illinois congressman between 2011 and 2013, Joe Walsh launched this past summer a long-shot Republican primary challenge to U.S. President Donald Trump, whom many have deemed to be the most pro-Israel figure ever in the White House.

Avigdor Liberman, chief of Yisrael Beiteinu party, told Channel 12 on Saturday he was willing to back whoever would sign up to President Rivlin’s unity plan, whether it is Likud or Blue and White.
He said he would call on Prime Minister-designate Benny Gantz to accept the compromise on rotation and urge interim Prime Minister Netanyahu break the ties with the religious-right bloc.

President Trump said Saturday he will “probably” release the transcript of another phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky next week as the House impeachment investigation enters a new, public phase.
Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews that he will likely release the transcript Tuesday of a conversation he had with Zelensky in April, three months before a second conversation the two leaders had that is now at the heart of the impeachment inquiry.

New police statistics show an increase in anti-Semitic hate crimes targeting Jewish riders on New York City subways, The City reported on Wednesday.
Since Oct. 20, the New York Police Department has logged 42 hate-crime complaints involving anti-Semitic acts in the subway—a 162 percent increase over similar incidents reported through that same date in 2018.
The incidents include a June 13 encounter at a station in Brooklyn in which a 26-year-old man allegedly yelled “Heil, Hitler!” and “All Jews must die!” at a 33-year-old man before grabbing the latter’s phone and flinging it at an incoming train, according to the Brooklyn district attorney’s office.

Transportation Minister Bezalel Smotrich on Motzei Shabbos responded to MK Avigdor Liberman, Yisrael Beytenu’s chairman, slamming him for preferring the Arab parties to his own brothers.
According to Smotrich, Liberman plans to join a government with the Joint Arab List.

Israel, the United States and Brazil were the only three countries to vote against a U.N. General Assembly resolution on Thursday to condemn the U.S. embargo of Cuba for the 28th year.
The measure passed 187-3, with Ukraine and Colombia abstaining.
Last year, the tally was 189-2 with only Israel and the United States voting in opposition, with no abstentions.
UNGA resolutions are not legally binding nor enforceable.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has met with Russian President Vladimir Putin numerous times over the last few years, mostly to ensure absolute coordination on the Syrian front, which Russia entered in 2015. In addition to their meetings, both leaders speak often by phone. When Syrian soldiers shot down a Russian jet and Israel was blamed for the miscommunication, Netanyahu and Putin were able to iron out the situation and ease some of the ensuing tensions.
