The suspect accused of killing 22 people at an El Paso Walmart told authorities that he was targeting “Mexicans” and confessed to carrying out the shooting rampage when he surrendered to authorities, according to police. Law enforcement officials responding to the scene on Saturday spotted a car stopped at an intersection not far from the Walmart, an El Paso police detective wrote in an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by The Washington Post. They then saw a man – identified as Patrick Crusius, the 21-year-old charged with capital murder in the case – get out of the car with his hands in the air, the affidavit said. He told them, “I’m the shooter,” Det. Adrian Garcia said in the affidavit, which was filed to a judge on Sunday, the day after the ...
Any Israeli involvement in any maritime coalition in the Gulf is a “clear threat” to Iran’s national security and the Islamic Republic has a right to confront the threat, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said on Friday, according to a statement on the Foreign Ministry website. Israeli media had quoted Foreign Minister Israel Katz as telling a close-door meeting on Tuesday that Israel was part of discussions and intelligence-sharing with a possible US maritime security coalition. Israeli officials declined to confirm or deny the reports.
President Trump on Thursday said no one is authorized to speak to Iran on behalf of the United States, and he accused French President Emmanuel Macron of sending “mixed signals” to Tehran over possible talks. “I know Emmanuel means well, as do all others, but nobody speaks for the United States but the United States itself,” Trump said in a series of tweets. It was not immediately clear what Trump was referring to and the White House declined to comment, but a report earlier this week said Macron had invited Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to this month’s G7 summit to meet Trump. A French diplomat denied the report on Wednesday. European leaders are seeking to defuse the brewing confrontation between Tehran and Washington after Trump pulled out of the Iran...

Columbia, SC - A South Carolina sheriff said Thursday that the state needs a hate crime law after his deputies couldn’t initially charge a 16-year-old Catholic school student who made videos using racial slurs and shooting a box that he said represented black people. The teen was charged four days later with making student threats after a third video surfaced of him threatening to shoot people at Cardinal Newman school in Columbia, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said. “It’s an absolute shame this state does not have a law against hate crimes,” Lott said. “Our legislators have got to take some action. Look at the turmoil these videos have created in the community.” South Carolina, Georgia, Wyoming and Arkansas are the only states without...

Hundreds of supporters of gun control legislation gathered at the city’s Muhammad Ali Center to hear Ryan and others. New Delhi - Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the nation Thursday night that he stripped the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir of its statehood and special constitutional status to free the disputed region of “terrorism and separatism.” Modi’s Hindu-led nationalist government imposed an unprecedented security lockdown and a near-total communications blackout in the Muslim-majority region since Sunday night, arresting more than 500 people. Kashmir is claimed in full by both India and its archrival Pakistan, although each controls only a part of it and rebels have been fighting Indian rule in the portion it administers for decades. This week, India downgraded the Himalayan region from statehood to a territory, limited its decision-making power and eliminated its...

The parties did not reach an agreement on the indictment concerning membership in a terrorist organization and, as stated, it was ultimately decided to leave this section in the indictment. As part of the plea agreement, the prosecutor's office agreed not to demand more than 5.5 years in prison. The minor's attorneys, Attorney Adi Kedar of the Honenu...

Washington - According to a new report by CNN, Jared Kushner was the one who convinced President Trump to grant clemency to Shalom Rubashkin, not any of the senators or community leadrs as previously thought. Sholom Rubashkin, the former CEO of America’s largest kosher meat processing plant, was convicted in 2009 of a series of fraud charges. Rubashkin’s legal troubles began in 2008, when a federal immigration raid discovered nearly 400 undocumented workers at his plant in Iowa. This was one of the biggest immigration raids at the time. In the aftermath, the picture that emerged in court papers was of a chaotically run business. Reports around the trial noted that Rubashkin had used $300,000 of company money to pay his credit card bills and $200,000 on a home renovation. ...
