Washington - When Bernie Sanders wanted to preview a speech about his signature health care plan, “Medicare for All,” he did not opt for a traditional interview. Instead, he made an appearance on “The 99,” his Democratic presidential campaign’s in-house livestreamed show, a controlled, decidedly on-message pro-Sanders program that streams on a variety of services including Twitch, a platform primarily used by gamers. The makeshift studio for the show is in a room with a long wooden table, walls decorated with Sanders campaign signs and tchotchkes including a Sanders action figure. Sanders sat down for an interview — with his campaign manager, Faiz Shakir. “We are doing these livestreams, we are talking to you directly,” Shakir said. &ldquo...
American Magnate Sheldon Adelson Visits Ponovezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak
During a town hall in her district on Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez called for a lengthy study into the president’s zero-tolerance immigration policy, adding that it’s what’s “required in order to reunify as many children with their parents as possible.” Fox News host Pete Hegseth said on Monday that there should instead be an investigation to see how the progressive lawmaker was elected to Congress in the first place. “We shouldn’t take anything she says seriously,” Hegseth said of Ocasio-Cortez while labeling her the “de facto” speaker of the House. “You talk about what’s happening at the border—she compares it to 9/11,” he continued. “She talks about concentration camps where 6 million Jews were kille...
Washington - President Donald Trump is lashing out at another member of the “squad” of Democratic congresswomen of color as he addresses Turning Point USA’s Teen Student Action Summit. Trump criticized Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan at the conservative youth gathering Tuesday, saying, “There’s no way she stands for the values of the people of Michigan.” He’s also calling her “vicious” and “a crazed lunatic.” Trump was referencing a video resurfaced by conservative websites over the weekend of Tlaib protesting when the president delivered a speech at the Detroit Economic Club during the 2016 campaign. Tlaib can be seen yelling “You guys are crazy!” at those in attendance. Trump has been engaged in a back-and-f...
Chicago - Advanced brain scans found perplexing differences in U.S. diplomats who say they developed concussion-like symptoms after working in Cuba, a finding that only heightens the mystery of what may have happened to them, a new study says. Extensive imaging tests showed the workers had less white matter than a comparison group of healthy people and other structural differences, researchers said. While they had expected the cerebellum, near the brain stem, to be affected given the workers’ reported symptoms — balance problems, sleep and thinking difficulties, headaches and other complaints — they found unique patterns in tissue connecting brain regions. Ragini Verma, a University of Pennsylvania brain imaging specialist and the lead author, said the patterns were un...
Washington - U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr said Tuesday that increased encryption of data on phones and computers and encrypted messaging apps are putting American security at risk. Barr’s comments at a cybersecurity conference mark a continuing effort by the Justice Department to push tech companies to provide law enforcement with access to encrypted devices and applications during investigations. “There have been enough dogmatic pronouncements that lawful access simply cannot be done,” Barr said. “It can be, and it must be.” The attorney general said law enforcement is increasingly unable to access information on devices, and between devices in the virtual world, even with a warrant supporting probable cause of criminal activity. Barr said that terrori...
The Senate overwhelmingly passed a bipartisan bill to ensure a victims' compensation fund related to the Sept. 11 attacks never runs out of money, fulfilling a pledge made by President Trump and ending years of uncertainty as the fund rapidly depleted. Lawmakers sent the bill to President Trump's desk after a 97-2 vote in favor of the legislation. Only two Republicans, Sens. Rand Paul and Mike Lee, voted no. "While I support our heroic first responders, I can’t in good conscience vote for legislation which to my dismay remains unfunded," Paul wrote on Twitter. "We have a nearly trillion dollar deficit and $22 trillion in debt. Spending is out of control." He added: "As I have done on countless issues, including disaster relief and wall ...
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei excoriated the Trump administration’s so-called “deal of the century” in the harshest terms Monday, accusing the White House of trying to destroy Palestinian identity and warned that the Gaza Strip has enough “precise missiles” to stop any US peace plan. “The goal of this dangerous conspiracy is to eliminate the Palestinian identity among the Palestinian people and youth,” said the Persian leader. “This is the point that must be resisted, and they must not be allowed to eliminate the Palestinian identity using money,” he added. An Israeli plane accidentally launched a missile at Syrian territory in late June, according to a report by News 12 Monday evening. The Israeli Air Force had sent the plane to investigate a suspicious target on the Golan Heights near the Syrian border when the pilot fired a missile at the target, which was later discovered to have been a false alarm. The pilot, who serves in the reserves, was suspended for a short time before returning to active duty. Read more at Arutz Sheva.
An employee of the drug recovery center that Vice President Mike Pence abruptly withdrew from visiting agreed to plead guilty last week to federal drug trafficking charges. At the time the Pence suddenly cancelled his visit, the White House refused to explain Pence’s absence, with President Trump describing the reason for the cancellation as “very interesting.” Jeff Hatch, who is listed as the chief business development officer at Granite State Recovery Centers, is accused of moving 1,500 grams of fentanyl, an extremely potent synthetic opioid, from Massachusetts to New Hampshire, where he then handed some of it off to an alleged area drug dealer, according to a plea agreement. Two people familiar with Pence’s cancellation said the reason for the sudden decision ...
Democratic presidential candidate Cory Booker said on Sunday that he would not be willing to meet with antisemitic Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, clarifying his position on the issue. When previously asked about potentially meeting with Farrakhan, the New Jersey senator replied, “I don’t feel like I need to do that, but I’m not one of those people who says that I wouldn’t sit down with anybody to hear what they have to say.” However, in a CNN interview on Sunday, Booker was asked about that statement and said, “First of all, that was completely taken out of context of that larger conversation.” “I will not sit down with Louis Farrakhan, period,” he emphasized. “And I reject anybody who preaches that kind of bigotry and...
Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani took to Twitter to slam De Blasio for the police officers who were doused with buckets of water in Harlem yesterday. “This disrespect for the uniform in NYC is result of a Democrat-Progressive (Retrogressive)-Socialist Mayor. This is what happens with knee-jerk disrespect for police. It will only get worse until these Left wing idiots are defeated.” The NYPD has said they are looking into the incident.

In August 2014, Boris Johnson, who was then mayor of London, described himself as a “passionate Zionist” and declared Israel as a “great country.” Speaking on LBC radio, Johnson, who on Tuesday won the race to lead Britain’s governing Conservative Party and to become the country’s next prime minister, said: “I am a passionate Zionist. I am a supporter of Israel. I believe in its existence. I’ve been on a kibbutz for heaven’s sake.” In 2015, on a visit to Israel, he praised the country for “the audacity, the bravery, the willingness to take risks with feats of outrageous derring-do.” Speaking in the House of Commons on the centenary of the Balfour Declaration, Johnson said in 2015: “A century after those words ...
Attorney General Bill Barr told Fox News on Tuesday that it was former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team who asked the Justice Department to send Mueller a letter telling him to keep his upcoming testimony to House lawmakers "within the boundaries" of the public version of his Russia probe report. The letter provoked criticism from Democrats ahead of Wednesday’s highly anticipated hearing, with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler calling it “incredibly arrogant.” Asked by Fox News why the Monday letter was sent, Barr said Mueller’s staff asked the department for guidance ahead of the hearing. “At his press conference, Bob had said that he intended to stick with the public report and not go beyond that,” Barr sa...

I would like to propose an insight which might help us understand what happened to our dear Reuven Z”L.  Of course we don’t ask questions.  Hashem runs the world and we accept whatever He does.  But maybe this is something we can learn from this story. Reuven Z”L  was a man with sterling Middos.  A true Ben Torah.  He learned Torah and taught others.  He was friendly with those of his stature, as well as those not as gifted as he was.  He learned with frum Jews, and those who were on their way.  He brought others close to Hashem through osmosis.  The chein one could feel, the pleasantness that was felt emanating from him, and the dignity with which he treated every Jew.  This is what drew so many to him, and as a res...
Swedish auto-maker Volvo Cars is recalling 507,000 vehicles worldwide because of a faulty engine component that, in extreme cases, could result in a fire. The company, which is owned by China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., said its own “investigations have identified that in very rare cases the plastic engine intake manifold may melt and deform.” “In the very worst case, there is a possibility that a localized engine bay fire may occur,” it said. When asked to provide details of the potential financial impact, Stefan Elfstrom, a spokesman for Volvo Cars, said, “We don’t comment on the cost.” The company is keen to fix the faulty vehicles as fast as possible and customers won’t incur any costs related to addressing the error, he s...
