Washington - U.S. President Donald Trump once again criticized London Mayor Sadiq Khan on Saturday, saying he is a “disaster” and will “only get worse” after three people were slain in the city in less than 20 hours.
Trump retweeted a tweet by the right-wing commentator Katie Hopkins who called London “stab city” and said “this is Khan’s Londonistan,” a phrase used to describe the city’s failure to tackle Muslim extremists.

Alexandria, VA - A northern Virginia man whose deportation to Israel was reversed last week is home again.
Immigration attorney Patrick Taurel says Abdelhaleem Ashqar was home in Alexandria on Friday following his release from a detention center in Bowling Green, Virginia.
The 60-year-old recently served 11 years in prison for refusing to testify to a grand jury investigating the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Last week, a judge’s order forced immigration authorities to return him from Israel before he got off the plane. Ashqar fears he would be tortured in Israel.
Taurel said he’s trying to get government attorneys to allow Ashqar to relocate to a country where he feels safe.

CORONA (CBSLA) – A shooting involving an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer was being investigated Saturday after the officer reportedly fired his gun inside of a Costco Wholesale in Corona Friday, killing one person and injuring three.
Officers were sent to the scene at 7:46 p.m. after receiving calls of an active shooter inside, according to the Corona Police Department.
Witnesses said the gunfire started when two men got into an argument inside of the store.
“From my understanding, from some people we talked to, there was apparently an argument inside. Some type of argument that ensued into a gun battle,” Lt. Jeff Edwards told reporters.

Concord police arrested a 23-year-old man Monday and charged him with threatening to kill indiscriminately people of the Jewish faith.
Police, along with the FBI, found out about Ross Anthony Farca’s plot through a tip from someone who saw him post threats on a popular gaming website.
According to the charging documents, Farca had a fascination with Hitler and a hatred for people of the Jewish faith. He’s been on the Concord police and FBI’s radar as a possible terrorist.
Neighbors said that they’ve been concerned with Farca’s behavior for many years and that they believe he had a propensity for violence and they’re glad he’s behind bars.

The FBI in Baltimore is looking to ID bank robbery suspects it has dubbed the "Mod Squad" who attempted to rob a Pikesville branch Saturday.
PIKESVILLE, MD — The FBI is investigating 12 bank robberies over the past three months that authorities believe are linked to one group. On Saturday, the suspects tried unsuccessfully to rob a bank in Pikesville around noon before successfully robbing a bank in Baltimore City about two hours later, officials said.
There is a reward for information about the four suspects, who investigators have dubbed the "Mod Squad" because, according to the FBI, it's a "younger crew that uses a variety of clothing styles and sunglasses" to conceal their identities.

Thousands of Palestinians rioted on the Israel-Gaza Strip border on Friday, hurling rocks, firebombs and explosive devices at IDF troops.

Baltimore police Friday released body-worn camera from the encounter that led to a sergeant's arrest last week.
Sgt. Ethan Newberg was arrested after a video of him assaulting a critic went viral.
Video from the body-worn camera shows the man walking by Newberg as the officer conducted a warrant check. The man appears to say something about harassment and Newberg placing his suspect on a wet sidewalk. Newberg is heard taking exception to the man's remarks.
The video shows him then running up to the man and grabbing him. After breaking away, a second officer, Alex Young, is seen wrapping his arms around the man and pulling him to the ground, where he and Newberg apply handcuffs.

All flights were halted temporarily in and out of Newark Liberty Airport Saturday afternoon when a plane apparently skidded off a runway.
“Due to an airport emergency there are currently no arrivals nor departures from Newark Airport. Please check with your carrier before coming to the airport,” according to the airport’s Twitter feed.
United Airlines Flight 627, which was coming in from Denver, landed on a runway at the airport around 1 p.m., but “then skidded off the left side of the pavement,” a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson told the Post.
No injuries were immediately reported, authorities said. Service at the airport restarted shortly after 3 p.m.

Staten Island, NY - New York City police say a 29-year-old officer died Friday in the department’s third suspected suicide in less than two weeks.
Police say he shot himself in the head around 3:45 p.m. on a Staten Island street near the 121st Precinct to which the officer was assigned. His identity had not been released as of late Friday.
Last week, two longtime officers died in suspected suicides within 24 hours of each other. Deputy Chief Steven Silks was found dead in a police vehicle in Queens on June 5. Detective Joseph Calabrese was found the next day at a Brooklyn beach.
Police say both died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the head.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A glitch stalled checkout lines at Target stores worldwide Saturday, exasperating shoppers and potentially eating into sales at a prime time for retailers, the day before Father’s Day.
The roughly two-hour outage periodically prevented Target’s cashiers from scanning merchandise or processing transactions as long lines formed in some stores. Self-checkout registers, usually the speediest of options, also weren’t working at times.
Target temporarily closed some of its stores, including one in San Francisco, rather than risk aggravating shoppers.

Washington - President Donald Trump has four leading candidates under consideration to replace outgoing White House press secretary Sarah Sanders, a Trump confidant said on Friday.
The four are deputy White House press secretary Hogan Gidley, Stephanie Grisham, who is first lady Melania Trump’s communications director, former State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert and outgoing Treasury Department spokesman Tony Sayegh, the source said on condition of anonymity.

Gaza City - Thosusands of Palestinians held protests along the volatile Gaza-Israel frontier Friday, after a night of Israeli airstrikes in retaliation for a rocket that hit a building in southern Israel.
The flare-up, which came after Israel this week closed Gaza’s offshore waters to fishermen in response to the launch of incendiary balloons, breaks a month-long lull.
