Moscow - Russia’s Foreign Ministry has strongly rejected Israeli media reports claiming that Russian officials have taken the remains of legendary Israeli spy Eli Cohen out of Syria, where he was executed more than five decades ago.
Cohen infiltrated the top echelons of Syria’s leadership in the early 1960s and obtained top-secret intelligence before he was caught and publicly executed in 1965.
Israeli media reported earlier this week that a Russian delegation took Cohen’s remains out of Syria.

The Trump administration is reimposing limits on the amount of money Cuban Americans can send to relatives on the island and ordering new restrictions on U.S. citizen, nonfamily travel to Cuba, national security adviser John Bolton said Wednesday.
The new measures, outlined by Bolton in a Miami speech, follow an announcement by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that the administration will lift restraints that have prevented lawsuits from U.S. citizens seeking compensation for property expropriated by the Cuban revolutionary government that seized power there more than six decades ago.
Bolton also announced new sanctions against Venezuela and Nicaragua that will bar parts of their banking systems from U.S. dollar transactions.

An Aeroflot flight to Israel from New York via Russia was canceled without the airline informing the passengers, who were delayed for seven hours at the airport.
Behadrei Haredim reported that the families received notice that they had no way to reach their destination the Passover holiday, which begins on Friday night. Their only option is an alternative flight with El Al in the evening at a price of $2,000 per ticket, far less than the company is willing to reimburse the stranded passengers. According to the company the plane experienced a technical failure and cannot take off.

The Trump administration’s proposal for achieving peace in the Middle East won’t be released until June at the earliest, senior White House adviser Jared Kushner told ambassadors on Wednesday.
The June release would come after the conclusion of the month of Ramadan, which ends early in the month, and would allow recently reelected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to form a governing coalition.
Kushner discussed the proposal Wednesday with roughly 100 ambassadors from around the world at Blair House, which is located across the street from the White House. He reportedly encouraged attendees to keep an open mind, but did not disclose whether the plan would call for the creation of a Palestinian state.

TIME Magazine on Wednesday voted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu one of its “100 most influential people of 2019.”
Netanyahu was chosen for the list’s subsection on “leaders” that also included Donald Trump, Nancy Pelosi, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Brett Kavanaugh, Robert Mueller, and international figures such as Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and Pope Francis.

The Department of Justice will allow some members of Congress to view a copy of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report “without certain redactions,” federal prosecutors said in a court filing Wednesday.
“Once the redacted version of the report has been released to the public, the Justice Department plans to make available for review by a limited number of Members of Congress and their staff a copy of the Special Counsel’s report without certain redactions, including removing the redaction of information related to the charges set forth in the indictment in this case,” prosecutors wrote in the filing.
The court document is part of longtime GOP operative Roger Stone’s criminal case, which emerged from Mueller’s probe.

Ahead of Pesach, President Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin this morning, Wednesday 17 April / 12 Nissan, sold the chametz together with Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem and the former Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, and Director-General of Beit HaNasi Harel Tubi.
The president thanked the Rabbi for coming and appointed the Rabbi as his representative to sell all the chametz in his residence at Beit HaNasi. New York - A burgeoning movement to outlaw fur is seeking to make its biggest statement yet in the fashion mecca of New York City.
Lawmakers are pushing a measure that would ban the sale of all new fur products in the city where such garments were once common.
A similar measure in the state Capitol in Albany would impose a statewide ban on the sale of any items made with farmed fur and ban the manufacture of products made from trapped fur.
Whether this is good or bad depends on which side of the pelt you’re on. Members of the fur industry say such bans could put 1,100 people out of a job in the city alone. Supporters dismiss that and emphasize that the wearing of fur is barbaric and inhumane.

MARYLAND — Struggling housewares retailer Bed Bath & Beyond — known for selling every kind of kitchen gadget, bed linens, towels and home decor — will close about 40 stores this year while opening 15 "lab" stores offering more home decor and food products, the company said this week. The number of stores to be shuttered could increase if more favorable lease agreements can't be reached with some of its landlords, company officials said in a conference call.

Israel Defense Forces demolished the home of Salah Omar Barghouti on Wednesday morning.
Barghouti was a prime suspect in a shooting attack that injured seven, including a pregnant woman, Shira Ish–Ran, on December 8th, 2018. Ish–Ran was taken to hospital, and her baby, who had to be delivered in emergency, died four days later. Hamas later claimed Barghouti as one of their operatives.
The attack at Ofra, and a copycat attack carried out by Barghouti’s brother at a junction near the settlement of Givat Assaf just days later, led to a massive manhunt for Salah Barghouti, 29, which ended with him being killed by Israeli forces in a coordinated operation.

Former Peruvian President Alan Garcia died Wednesday after he shot himself before being detained by police amid allegations he received illegal payment from a Brazilian construction giant.
The 69-year-old Garcia was taken from his home in the capital Lima to the Casimiro Ulloa Hospital at around 6:45 a.m. local time for a bullet wound to the head. He died several hours later after falling into a coma during emergency surgery, current President Martinez Vizcarra announced.
Earlier Wednesday, Health Minister Zulema Tomás said doctors provided cardiac resuscitation three times on Garcia before operating on him.

Yahadut HaTorah which dropped from eight seats to seven, regained its eighth seat by uncovering a small but significant error.
According to Kikar Shabbos, the moment the Likud party received its 36th seat at the expense of UTJ’s eighth seat, party activists began working to prove that the drop had been caused by typing errors.
Senior figures in the Central Elections Committee did not believe that correcting the errors would change the results, but UTJ activists working around the clock proved otherwise, resulting in an extra seat in the new Knesset.

Following the failed lunar landing of the Israeli spacecraft Beresheet, preliminary findings point to a technical malfunction in one of the built-in measurement gauges that led to the engine shutdown during the final descent.
According to the initial investigation of the Israeli spacecraft Beresheet’s landing maneuver, following a malfunction in the IMU (inertial measurement unit), a command was uploaded to the spacecraft, which ultimately caused the main engine to turn off as communication with the vessel was lost.
The SpaceIL and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) team is continuing its investigation of the mission and will release the final findings in the coming weeks.

For the first time since the Warsaw ghetto was liquidated during World War II and all its residents were killed or deported to death camps, one hundred Jewish families will celebrate a Pesach seder in the ghetto, along with the Rabbi of the local Lubavitch Jewish community and his family.
Rabbi Shalom Ber Stambler, Chief Rabbi of Chabad-Poland is hosting a special Pesach seder in the heart of what was formerly the Warsaw ghetto with approximately one hundred Jewish families from Israel, Europe and the USA as his guests.
The seder will be divided into three groups and led in three different languages—Polish, Hebrew and English. Toward the end of the evening, they will merge and conclude the seder as one.

As Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the international community await the publication of the American peace plan, it is clear, based on PA leader Mahmoud Abbas’ behavior in previous peace talks, that nothing the United States can offer will be enough.
Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, who was present at the negotiations between then Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Abbas in 2008, recently told PA TV how generous Olmert’s offer was on all final status issues. Donations for the restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral after it was severely damaged by a fire Monday are already nearing $1 billion, according to the Associated Press.
In only 1.5 days, contributions have reached 880 million euros, or $995 million, according to presidential cultural heritage envoy Stephane Bern. The French government is in the process of establishing a special office to handle larger donations, according to the AP.
Donors thus far have ranged from large corporations like Apple and the owners of L’Oreal, Chanel and Dior to local parishioners and residents of small and midsized French towns, according to the news service.

Amid swirling speculation about the Trump administration’s so-called “deal of the century” for peace between Israel and the Palestinians, U.S. special envoy to the Middle East Jason Greenblatt on Tuesday urged patience before its unveiling.
“Jared [Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law] & I sincerely appreciate all of the interest in our peace efforts over the past 2 yrs. But, we’re not going to reveal details of the plan ahead of time. [Continued] speculation doesn’t help anyone & harms the effort.
