At least eight people have died, including two children who were crushed inside a car in Angelina County, Texas, as a result of severe storms that ripped through the South over the weekend, according to The Associated Press.
Two people, including a 13-year-old, died in floodwaters Saturday near Ouachita Parish, AP reported. The teen died during flash flooding in the community of Bawcomville, near Monroe, and was pulled from a drainage canal, according to reports.
In Alabama, a county employee was struck by a vehicle early Sunday as he was helping to clear downed trees near Birmingham, according to the AP.

Jerusalem - The Israeli military says it’s investigating the fatal shooting of a Palestinian man by an Israeli civilian earlier this month near the West Bank city of Nablus.
The inquiry comes the same day as Sunday’s announcement by Israeli rights group B’Tselem saying it found inconsistencies in the initial report that the Palestinian man was armed with a knife.
On April 3, the Israeli driver shot Mohammed Abdel Fattah, 23, who he said tried to stab him after hurling a stone at his car.
Since 2015, Palestinians have killed over 50 Israelis in West Bank attacks, while Israeli forces have killed over 260 Palestinians there in the same period. Israel says most were attackers, but the army also has also used deadly force during clashes between protesters and soldiers.

Budapest - Thousands of Hungarians attended the annual March of the Living in Budapest on Sunday to commemorate victims of the Holocaust, including Jane Haining, a Scottish missionary who refused to abandon her Jewish charges during World War Two.
Israel’s Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem estimates that 565,000 Hungarian Jews were killed in the Holocaust, most of them deported to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland between May and July 1944.
Haining, who had taught Christian and Jewish girls at a boarding school of the Church of Scotland’s Mission in Budapest, was arrested by the Gestapo in 1944 and later died in the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. Read more at Reuters

Unconfirmed Syrian reports have claimed that the Russian delegation that just recently left Syria, allegedly departed with an Israeli coffin containing the remains of Israeli spy Eli Cohen.The spy was hanged in Damascus in 1965.The reports have not yet been denied by any Israeli party. Florida - President Donald Trump may have threatened to transport illegal immigrants to so-called sanctuary cities to “make everybody crazy” and generate media attention, Republican U.S. Senator Rick Scott said on Sunday.
Trump said on Friday he was considering sending illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities, prompting U.S. mayors to accept such an offer as the battle over border security rages.
Sanctuary cities are local jurisdictions that generally give undocumented immigrants safe harbor by refusing to use their resources to help enforce federal immigration laws that could lead to deportations. Many such jurisdictions are Democratic strongholds.

Yesterday, Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, was appointed as chief Rabbi of Morocco with the blessing of the king. He now has a diplomatic and Supreme Court Justice status.The ceremony was held in the Bet El Synagogue in Casablanca, attended by hundreds of people, including Moroccan officials who came under the guidance of the King to honor the Rabbi during his ceremony. Jerusalem - A delegation from Israel that was due to attend a conference in Bahrain this week has pulled out due to security concerns, the organizers said on Sunday, after Bahrainis held an extensive campaign against the visit.
A spokeswoman for Israel’s Economy Ministry said a planned visit to Bahrain this week by Israel’s Economy Minister Eli Cohen had been “delayed because of political issues.”

Berlin - Over 300 tissue samples from people killed by the Nazi regime and kept by a Berlin doctor will be laid to rest in a ceremony in Berlin on May 13, 74 years after the end of World War Two, Bild am Sonntag newspaper reported on Sunday.
The tiny samples were discovered in 2016 in the estate of anatomy professor Hermann Stieve from the University of Berlin, who had received the bodies of German anti-Nazi fighters for dissection, sometimes just minutes after they were killed at the Berlin-Ploetzensee prison.
Stieve, who died of a stroke in 1952, dissected the bodies of the mostly female victims for his research and then had them cremated and interred, sometimes in mass graves.

Sen. Bernie Sanders on Saturday pushed back against criticism he received after saying this week that he is a millionaire.
“I didn’t know that it was a crime to write a good book, which turned out to be a best-seller,” the 2020 Democratic presidential candidate told a crowd in Gary, Ind.
“I don’t apologize for writing a book that was No. 3 on The New York Times best-seller [list],” he added but reiterated his belief in a “progressive tax system which demands that the wealthiest people in this country finally start paying their fair share in taxes.”

Israeli planes targeted a military position near the province of Hama in Syria on Saturday, but Syrian air defenses intercepted and downed some of the rockets, Syrian state television said on Saturday.
Citing military sources, SANA news agency and Syrian state television said that Israeli aircraft had targeted “one of our military positions toward the city of Masyaf.”
“The enemy missiles were dealt with and some of them were shot down before reaching their target, resulting in the damage of a few buildings and the injury of three fighters,” SANA added.

Southwest Airlines has removed all of its 737 Max 8 jets from flight schedules through the busy summer travel period amid ongoing concerns surrounding the safety of the aircraft.
All of Southwest’s 737 Max 8 airplanes have been removed from flight schedules through Aug. 5, the company announced. It was unclear how many flights would be affected or canceled as a result of the decision.
The company’s president, Tom Nealon, released a statement that said a “limited number of customers” were being affected by the continued grounding of the Max 8 jets, which occurred after the model was involved in two fatal crashes in six months.

Ecuador blew through nearly a million dollars a year hosting WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange at its embassy in London, officials revealed Saturday.
The country shelled out a total of $6.5 million on behalf of Assange, who went into hiding there in August 2012 but was dragged out and arrested on Thursday. Most of that $6.5 million was spent on security, according to the Daily Mail. The rest was used for medical expenses, food and washing his clothing.
The 47-year-old asylum seeker was reportedly abusive toward the embassy staff, ate with his fingers, infrequently bathed or did laundry — and even smeared feces on the walls.
