ATLANTA (AP) — A woman with multiple sclerosis says Delta Air Lines employees tied her to a wheelchair with a blanket when they didn't have a chair that could accommodate her disability, and her son says a supervisor cursed at her as she wept. Maria Saliagas tells WSB-TV that Delta usually provides a wheelchair with straps because she can't sit up on her own. Nathan Saliagas tweeted April 2 that Delta's actions left his mother bruised and crying. He tweeted a photo of his mother and tagged Delta and several local journalists. Delta spokesman Anthony Black says the company regrets "the perception our service has left on these customers." The company offered the family 20,000 SkyMiles, but they want changes in the disability policy. Nathan Saliagas...

Senior officials say US Ambassador to Israel seeking to be able to say 'Judea and Samaria; in official statements instead of 'West Bank.' US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman has sought to refer to Judea and Samaria by their biblical names in his official statements and documents, the Associated Press reported. According to the report, Ambassador Friedman has been prevented from using the names Judea and Samaria by the Trump Administration. Judea and Samaria formed the heart of biblical Israel. Judea received its name from the tribe of the Davidic dynasty which ruled the southern kingdom from approximately 1000 BCE until 586 BCE, the tribe of Judah. The Jewish people are largely descendants from the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Judah. Samaria received its ...
Washington - When the Stars and Stripes is hoisted over the new U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem next month it will be a physical milestone in a broader, striking shift by the Trump administration away from a half-century of traditional U.S. policy toward Israel and the Palestinians. For decades, even amid close U.S.-Israeli ties, Washington has tried to position itself as a neutral party in the vexing Mideast conflict, willing to call out both sides when they take steps seen as contrary to the pursuit of peace. Yet the expected May 14 move of the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will be just the latest in a series of steps the administration has taken that have delighted Israelis and angered and alienated the Palestinians. Over the course of his first 16 months in office, President Donald Tr...

WASHINGTON (AP) — French President Emmanuel Macron drew on the shared history and "special bond" of U.S.-French relations as he opened a joint meeting of Congress. Macron told Congress, "the American and French people have had a rendezvous with freedom." In recounting common bonds from the earliest days of the United States, he was telling of a meeting between Ben Franklin and the French philosopher Voltaire, "kissing each other's cheeks." Macron spoke Wednesday as part of his visit to the United States. PARIS (AP) — French Muslim leaders are rejecting suggestions that the Quran is to blame for resurgent anti-Semitism in France, and are urging imams and non-Muslims to work together to fight extremism. They were responding to a manifesto signed by actor Gerard Depardieu, former President Nicolas Sarkozy and others blaming Islamic radicalism for a "new anti-Semitism." WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump appears likely to win his travel ban case at the Supreme Court. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Anthony Kennedy both signaled support for the travel policy in arguments Wednesday at the high court. The ban's challengers almost certainly need one of those two justices if the court is to strike down the ban on travelers from several mostly Muslim countries. Justice Sonia Sotomayor was the most aggressive questioner of Solicitor General Noel Francisco in his defense of the Trump policy, and the three other liberal justices also raised questions about it. The justices voted in December to allow the policy to take full effect pending their full consideration. Wednesday was the first time they took it up in open court. The Trump admi...

The site’s homepage will feature top-selling items in each customer’s location and a quick link to purchase previously ordered items. It will also include a new fashion section, while other categories will get a fresh look later in the year. Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort was interviewed by the FBI twice while he was working as a political consultant for a Ukrainian political party – several years before he was named a top adviser to Donald Trump, newly filed court documents revealed. The documents filed late Monday by prosecutors in the office of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign, show that the FBI had interviewed Manafort in March 2013 and again in July 2014. Manafort’s deputy, Rick Gates, who also held a top role with Trump’s campaign, was interviewed by the FBI in July 2014, the documents show. Jason Maloni, a spokesman for Manafort, declined to comment, citing a gag order imposed by the judge in Manafort’s case. ...
Rav Avichai Rontzki, fifth army Chief Rabbi, who served from 2006 to 2010, passed away at the age of 66. Born to a secular Haifa family in 1951, Rav Rontzki became religious during his army service. He then studied at Yerushalayim’s Merkaz Harav Yeshiva and served as rosh yeshiva in the Itamar Yeshiva until his passing. In 2012, he, Naftali Bennett, Ayelet Shaked and others founded the Yisraelim party which is now part of Bayit Yehudi. Rav Rontzki revolutionized the army rabbinate. He increased the number of battalion rabbonim to the maximum, expanded the army’s Jewish Awareness Department and fought unsuccessfully to stop Army Radio from broadcasting on Shabbos. Several MKs called for his resignation when he stridently opposed women takin...
NORRIDGEWOCK, Maine (AP) — A Maine man killed a sheriff's deputy, stole his cruiser and robbed a convenience store early Wednesday, triggering an intensive manhunt in a heavily wooded rural town in Maine, officials said. Brooklyn, NY - New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) announced this morning that he will not be seeking another term of office. Born June 30, 1950, Hikind grew up in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where his father was a devout follower of the Vizhnitz Hasidic dynasty. As a follower of the late Rabbi Meir Kahane, Hikind spent the late 1960s and 1970s actively fighting against anti-Semitism, working to free Soviet Jews and Syrian Jews, and fighting to help Jewish poor. These early years of intense activism were mirrored throughout his storied career as an elected official. Hikind never limited his ‘job’ to local issues and the typical role of a legislator. He felt responsible for helping every Jew, no matter where they could be found. Hikind was first elected to represent...
GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A Palestinian journalist who was shot by Israeli troops while covering a demonstration on the Gaza-Israel border earlier this month died of his wounds on Wednesday, the Gaza Health Ministry announced. With the death, Ahmed Abu Hussein became the second journalist to be fatally shot during weeks of Palestinian border protests. Abu Hussein, 24, was wounded in the abdomen on April 13 at a protest near Jebaliya, in the northern Gaza Strip. He was later transferred to a Palestinian hospital in the West Bank, and then to an Israeli hospital, where he died Wednesday. Photos and amateur video from the scene show him far from the border and wearing a blue jacket and helmet marked "TV" when he was shot. The video shows him in a group of bystanders located some 5...
