The Dow and S&P 500 snapped a six-day winning streak Tuesday, as disappointing Walmart (NYSE:WMT) earnings weighed on stocks. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 254.63 points, or 1.01%, to 24,964.75. The S&P 500 dropped 15.96 points, or 0.58%, to 2,716.26. The Nasdaq Composite fell 5.16 points, or 0.07%, to 7,234.31. U.S. stocks are coming off a strong week in which the Dow recovered approximately half of the losses it amassed since hitting a January peak. But volatility returned Tuesday, igniting a sell-off that accelerated into the closing bell. Walmart, which belongs to the 30-member Dow, reported slower online sales growth and a quarter profit that missed analysts’ expectations. Walmart’s 10.2% decline took 74 points off the Dow. PARKLAND, Fla. (AP) — Each funeral for the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High massacre is different, yet the same. The mourning relatives. Teens wearing black and walking in clutches. Politicians paying their respects. And each service takes its toll on the young mourners, many of them attending more friends' funerals in a span of days than many middle-aged people have in their lifetimes. Services for 14 Stoneman Douglas students, the athletic director, a coach and a geography teacher began Friday, two days after the shooting. The services will end in the next few days. Seventeen-year-olds Erica Sparrow and Lauren Kupferman have attended three funerals and have four more coming. The girls say it's both difficult and cathartic.

The post had been shared more than 50,000 times by Tuesday morning. Outfront Media, which owns the billboard along Interstate 65 in Louisville, told local TV stations they are working to remove the vandalism. The billboard was tagged with "Resist 45," a group that opposes President Donald Trump. It comes after 17 people died in a Florida school shooting, renewing debate over U.S. gun laws. Pledging she "will not shut up," US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Tuesday that the Trump administration will not change its decision to move the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. But her message at the UN Security Council went unheard by Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, who opted to leave the chamber prior to Haley's remarks. Abbas exited the meeting shortly after he addressed the Security Council -- calling out the US for failing to clarify its stance on a two-state solution and keeping the Palestine Liberation Organization on the terror watch list. "We met with the President of the United States, Mr. Donald Trump, four times in 2017, and we have expressed our absolute readiness to reach a historic peace agreement," Abbas said in a rare appearance...

One of the revelations in Friday’s indictment handed down by Special Counsel Robert Mueller was that alleged Russian attempts to sow disunity in 2016 included the organization of both pro- and anti-Trump rallies in New York City on the Saturday after Election Day. A check of their November 12 coverage showed both CNN and MSNBC gave enthusiastic coverage to the Russian-organized anti-Trump rally that day, with live reports every hour. Correspondents celebrated the idea that it was “a love rally,” and repeated the marchers’ anti-Trump mantras, such as: “We reject the President-elect.” While the two liberal anti-Trump networks offered heavy coverage of the anti-Trump rally throughout the day, a check of coverage between noon and 5:00 p.m. Eastern&nbs...
The couple who took in suspected Florida school shooter Nikolas Cruz after his mother died is speaking out for the first time – and they insist they had no idea he was capable of allegedly opening fire at a school. The Trump administration on Tuesday made a controversial move to expand access to health insurance that does not meet ObamaCare requirements. The proposed rules would expand access to short-term health insurance to a duration of up to 12 months, lifting the Obama administration’s restrictions that limited the plans to a maximum of three months. The administration believes the move will provide cheaper options for people facing high costs for ObamaCare plans. Read more at The Hill.
President Trump sought to blame former President Obama over Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election, sending a series of tweets on Tuesday morning that said his predecessor didn’t do enough to stop Moscow. Trump said that before the election, Obama though Hillary Clinton would win the presidential election and didn’t want to “rock the boat.” After Clinton lost, the president said “the whole game changed.” “Obama was President up to, and beyond, the 2016 Election. So why didn’t he do something about Russian meddling?” Trump tweeted. Read more at The Hill.
Former CIA Director John Brennan lit into President Trump for his tweets about the investigation into Russian election interference, saying Trump’s “insecurity is well deserved, as is your concern over Russia investigation.” “It never ceases to amaze me how successful you have been making yourself so small, petty, and banal with your tweets. Your insecurity is well deserved, as is your concern over Russia investigation,” Brennan tweeted on Tuesday. “Thomas Paine was right when he said, ‘These are the times that try men’s souls,’” he added. President Donald Trump on Monday night threw his full support behind Mitt Romney’s bid to be the next U.S. senator from Utah, writing on Twitter that he would be a “worthy successor” to retiring Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah. The endorsement is significant because Trump had previously encouraged Hatch to seek another term, and Romney had been among the most vocal Republican critics of Trump’s presidential aspirations, once calling him “a phony” and “a fraud.” “MittRomney has announced he is running for the Senate from the wonderful State of Utah. He will make a great Senator and worthy successor to @OrrinHatch, and has my full support and endorsement!” Trump wrote on Twitter on Monday night after returning to Washington from a long w...
