Just hours before the start of Agudath Israel of America’s 18th annual Yerushalayim Yarchei Kallah, hundreds of participants gathered in Bnei Brak on Sunday night for a pre-opening event held at Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center. Torrential rains did nothing to dampen the spirits of those who came to the reception held in a magnificent tent outside the state of the art 300 bed hospital which prides itself on providing high level, halachically appropriate medical care.
With many travelers having just arrived in Eretz Yisroel for the Yarchei Kallah, orchestrated by the Agudah’s Torah Projects Commission, participants headed directly to the hospital which was founded in 1990 to serve the more than 100,000 residents of the Bnei Brak area.

A small chance of flurries on Monday will be followed by a chance for more accumulation Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.
Two inches of snow could accumulate in Baltimore by Wednesday morning, making for some slippery roads. Higher amounts could be seen northwest of Baltimore.
Snow is not expected to start Tuesday evening until after 6 p.m. and it should taper off around noon Wednesday

PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump has called the new governor of Virginia, Democrat Ralph Northam, to congratulate him.
Northam was sworn in Saturday during ceremonies at the state Capitol in Richmond.
The White House says Trump called Northam on Sunday from his Florida estate and says the president and the governor agreed to work together closely on many issues, including support of the military.
Trump placed another call of congratulations on Sunday to New Jersey’s governor-elect, Democrat Phil Murphy. He’ll be sworn in on Tuesday.

Israeli leaders slammed Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Monday for a fiery, invective-filled speech against President Donald Trump, in which he proclaimed the U.S. role as arbiter of the Mideast conflict over, attacked the administration's envoys and described Israel as a colonial conspiracy.
Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman said Abbas had "lost his senses" and had given up on the prospect of peace negotiations in favor of open confrontation with both Israel and the United States. Israeli Education Minister Naftali Bennett, head of the pro-settler Jewish Home Party, said the speech represented Abbas' swan song.

The Israeli government announced Monday that it would no longer permit members of the Hamas terrorist group or their immediate family members in Gaza to enter Israel with entry permits issued out of humanitarian concerns, including to seek medical treatment in Israeli hospitals, as opposed to medical facilities in the Gaza Strip.
The announcement was made Monday after the government acknowledged to the Supreme Court that it had hitherto not fully implemented a security cabinet decision which included sanctions targeting Hamas leadership.
Last November, a legal team assembled by the Goldin family accused the government of not implementing the cabinet decision, and filed an appeal with the Supreme Court to intervene.

JAKARTA, Indonesia — A mezzanine floor inside the Jakarta Stock Exchange tower collapsed on Monday, injuring nearly 80 people and forcing a chaotic evacuation.
Security camera footage circulated online showed the collapse, with a group of people plunging several meters (feet) to the ground as the structure gave way beneath them.
People fled the building through a lobby strewn with debris. Emergency personnel tended to the injured on the grass and pavement outside the tower.
National police spokesman Setyo Wasisto said most of the injured were college students from Palembang in Sumatra who were visiting the stock exchange as part of a study tour.
Wasisto ruled out terrorism as a cause of the collapse.
“There is no bomb element in the incident,” he said.

Police in northern Virginia are investigating after some residents received fliers claiming to be from the Ku Klux Klan.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has described US President Donald Trump’s Middle East peace efforts as the “slap of the century”.
Speaking to Palestinian faction leaders in Ramallah on Sunday, he said: “The deal of the century is the slap of the century and we will not accept it.”

President Trump made his first public comments since the false alarm of a ballistic missile heading toward Hawaii, saying he thought it was “terrific” that the state took responsibility for the error.
“That was a state thing but we are going to now get involved with them. I love that they took responsibility. They took total responsibility,” Trump told reporters Sunday.
