The Palestinian president railed at President Donald Trump in a fiery, two-hour-long speech on Sunday, saying "shame on you" for his treatment of the Palestinians and warning that he would have no problem rejecting what he suggested would be an unacceptable peace plan.
The speech by Mahmoud Abbas ratcheted up what has been more than a month of harsh rhetoric toward Trump since the president's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Relations between Washington and the Palestinians have sunk to a new low, boding poorly for a peace plan the White House has promised to present.

President Trump made his first public comments since the false alarm of a ballistic missile heading toward Hawaii, saying he thought it was “terrific” that the state took responsibility for the error.
“That was a state thing but we are going to now get involved with them. I love that they took responsibility. They took total responsibility,” Trump told reporters Sunday.
“But we are going to get involved. Their attitude and their — I think it is terrific. They took responsibility. They made a mistake,” he continued.

Ramban in this Parsha has many classical comments, especially the last Ramban in the parsha which is a foundation of the fundamentals of the Torah, and I hope to spend some time on that with that. WASHINGTON — The Trump administration is preparing to withhold tens of millions of dollars from the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, cutting the year's first contribution by more than half or perhaps entirely, and making additional donations contingent on major changes to the organization, according to U.S. officials.

NEW YORK - An El Al flight en route from New York to Tel Aviv made an emergency landing early Sunday morning in Goose Bay, Canada. Over 15 hours later, the passengers finally disembarked and transferred to a new plane, and were on their way to Israel.
The flight, which had been scheduled to depart JFK Airport at 11:50 p.m. Motzoei Shabbos, took off an hour late, according to Fradel Leser, a passenger who spoke with Hamodia from the plane.
Two hours into the flight, they announced that that there would be an emergency landing due to “technical difficulties”; some passengers told Hamodia that they had heard “irregular mechanical noises.”

The Chief Sephardic Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef, on Sunday evening paid a condolence call at the home of Rabbi Raziel Shevach in Havat Gilad.
Rabbi Shevach, a father of six children, was murdered in a shooting attack in Samaria last week.
Rabbi Yosef said that Rabbi Shevach had received from him three different certificates of smicha (rabbinical ordination) and that it was clear that he was immersed in Torah and kindness and deserved all these documents.
"The rabbinate of Rabbi Shevach was expressed in words between man and G-d and also in words between people. He also had humanity," said Rabbi Yosef.

SANTA ANA, CALIF. - Authorities say two people escaped serious injuries when the car they were in went airborne and slammed into the second floor of a dental office in Southern California.
The Orange County Fire Authority says the Nissan Altima hit a center divider early Sunday, soared into the air and plowed into the top floor of the two-story structure in Santa Ana.
Photos show the sedan's front half wedged inside the building while the back half hangs about 10 feet above a sidewalk.
Officials say a small fire injured one person who managed to get out of the car unassisted. Authorities had to rescue the second person.

Commander of IDF’s Southern Brigade assures residents of Kibbutz Kerem Shalom that they are safe following terror tunnel demolition.
Colonel Kobi Heller, the commander of the IDF’s Southern Brigade, on Sunday evening met with the residents of Kibbutz Kerem Shalom, located near the border with Gaza.
The meeting was held hours after the IDF finished demolishing a Hamas terror tunnel that passed under the Kerem Shalom Crossing from Gaza into Israel.
"Nobody wants to reach an escalation in the situation,” Heller told the residents, as quoted on Israeli media, and added, “We have responded to each rocket attack. Some of the retaliations were large but there has been zero response from the Gazan side. This shows our high deterrence.”

A federal prosecutor says a former U.S. Postal Service worker who burned at least 20 tubs of mail over five months has pleaded guilty to a single count of delaying or destroying the mail.
U.S. Attorney Alexander C. Van Hook said in a news release Friday that 50-year-old Mark Wayne Thompson took mail from his rural postal route in Louisiana to his home in Pitkin, where from Dec. 1, 2016 to May 1, 2017, he burned at least 20 tubs of mail.
The former letter carrier now faces up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing is set for April 6.

arishioners prayed Sunday for those killed and for families still searching for missing relatives in a Southern California community ravaged by mudslides, and authorities announced another body had been found, increasing the death toll to 20.
The body of 30-year-old Pinit Sutthithepa was discovered Saturday afternoon. His 2-year-old daughter, Lydia, remained missing. His 6-year-old son, Peerawat, nicknamed Pasta, and his 79-year-old father-in-law, Richard Loring Taylor, also were killed in the mudslides.
"This family is one of several that lost multiple family members," Santa Barbara County Sheriff Bill Brown said. "And we know that the suffering of those who knew and loved all of the victims is immense."

FBI agents knew the gunman behind the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history left behind big caches of guns, ammunition and explosives when they sought warrants to search his properties and online accounts, according to court documents released Friday.
However, new questions were raised after a U.S. judge in Nevada unsealed the documents revealing some of what federal agents had learned about shooter Stephen Paddock in the week after the Las Vegas attack.

MIAMI (AP) - A high-speed train that was offering preview runs in Florida a day before its debut has struck and killed a woman.
Boynton Beach police say 31-year-old Melissa Lavell was struck by the Brightline train after the sun set on Friday.
Witnesses tell police the woman was crossing the tracks after the guard rails were down, attempting to beat the train. No one on the train was injured.
The high-speed train began service in South Florida on Saturday running between Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. It will expand south and north to take passengers from Miami to Orlando.

Jerusalem - Thousands of mourners filled the streets of Jerusalem, paying a final tribute to Rabbi Yehoshua Maman, a prominent Sephardic rabbi who was believed to be Israel’s most senior Moroccan rabbi.
Rabbi Maman, who was 100 years old, served as the chief rabbi of Nahariya and as the head of the Be’er Sheva Beis Din in Beer Sheva.

The Shin Bet security service and the Israel Police arrested Israeli Arab Hassan Khaled Taher Sheikh Yusef, 26, from the Arab city of Taibeh in central Israel, on suspicion of supporting the ISIS terror organization, and intentions to carry out an attack inspired by the organization.
The investigation found that between the years 2014-2015 Yusef began strengthening his Islamic observance and approached the ISIS organization, during which time he viewed ISIS-related Internet content and explored possibilities of joining the organization in Syria.
The investigation also indicated that Yusef had viewed training material for preparing explosives and even tried to convince another to purchase an M16 rifle with him.
