PA names Norwegian-funded women's center after terrorist, Norway slams decision, insists donation be returned.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende slammed the Palestinian Authority for using Norwegian money to build a women's center in Burqa named after terrorist Dalal Mughrabi.
Mughrabi was a Fatah terrorists who killed 37 people, including 12 children, in a massacre on Israel's Coastal Highway in 1978.
Brende demanded the PA immediately return the donated money and remove the Norwegian Foreign Ministry logo from the building.
"Norway took the appropriate steps," Israel's Foreign Ministry said. "Standing up to commemoration of terrorists is an integral part of the international fight against terror."

Rockland County, NY - The father of a yeshiva student who was critically injured last fall when he was struck by a speeding car is charging the Ramapo Police Department with mishandling the incident, giving preferential treatment to the driver of the car because he is an off-duty police officer.
As previously reported on VIN News (http://bit.ly/2qrwNiB), Officer Jonathan Mosquera was running late for his shift with the Peekskill Police Department on September 7th and was speeding down Route 202 in Suffern when he attempted to illegally pass a car that was had slowed down to make a left turn into the driveway of Yeshiva Tiferet Torah. The force of the impact sent Mosquera’s car into two teenagers who were standing in the driveway.

Washington - Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has declined a request to host an event to mark Islam’s holy month of Ramadan, two U.S. officials said, apparently breaking with a bipartisan tradition in place with few exceptions for nearly 20 years.
Since 1999, Republican and Democratic secretaries of state have nearly always hosted either an iftar dinner to break the day’s fast during Ramadan or a reception marking the Eid al-Fitr holiday at the end of the month, at the State Department.
Tillerson turned down a request from the State Department’s Office of Religion and Global Affairs to host an Eid al-Fitr reception as part of Ramadan celebrations, said two U.S. officials who declined to be identified because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

A Virginia-based federal appeals court pulled no punches in refusing to reinstate President Donald Trump’s revised travel ban, with judges in the 10-3 majority calling the administration’s action discriminatory and its reasoning nonsensical.
The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals opinion Thursday upheld a Maryland judge’s decision to block the travel ban from taking effect. It was the first appeals court to weigh in on the travel ban.
A three-judge panel of the San Francisco-based 9th Circuit is expected to rule soon after hearing arguments in Seattle this month, and the issue is likely to reach the Supreme Court.

British police investigating the Manchester Arena bombing made a new arrest Friday while continuing to search addresses associated with the attacker who killed 22 people.
Seven other men are in custody in connection with Monday’s blast, all are being held on suspicion of offenses violating the Terrorism Act. Their ages ranged from 18 to 38.
A 16-year-old boy and a 34-year-old woman who had been arrested were released without charge, police said.

Officials say President Trump wants Israel-PA peace talks to begin as soon as possible.
U.S. President Donald Trump wants to resume peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) as soon as possible, according to officials involved in contacts between Israel and the U.S. who were quoted by Channel 10 News on Friday.
The sources said that the U.S. administration wants the talks between Israel and the PA to start in Washington within a period of one to two months, with the goal of narrowing the gaps between the sides as much as possible before beginning talks on issues of substance.

Natan Meir, whose wife Dafna was murdered by a terrorist at the entrance to her home in Otniel south of Hevron, was married today in Jerusalem to Zohar Morgenshtein.

President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is willing to cooperate with federal investigators looking into ties between Russia and the Trump campaign, his attorney said.
The statement from attorney Jamie Gorelick was issued Thursday amid reports that the FBI was investigating meetings Kushner had in December with Russian officials.
“Mr. Kushner previously volunteered to share with Congress what he knows about these meetings. He will do the same if he is contacted in connection with any other inquiry,” the statement said.

A local news report says a storm damaged a jet’s cockpit windshield and sent the international flight back to Miami this week.
WTVJ reports a Madrid-bound Air Europa flight was forced to return to Miami International Airport on Wednesday night after a lightning strike cracked the co-pilot’s window. No injuries were reported.
Airport spokesman Greg Chin says the 178 passengers on Flight 98 departed from Miami at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday but returned two hours later after the damage, reportedly caused by severe weather in the area.
Passengers were stranded for nearly 24 hours, but arrangements were made for them to take a different plane Friday morning.

Donald Trump’s administration is pledging a Supreme Court showdown over his travel ban after a federal appeals ruled that the ban “drips with religious intolerance, animus and discrimination.”
Citing the president’s duty to protect the country from terrorism, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Thursday that the Justice Department will ask the high court to review the case, although he offered no timetable.
The Supreme Court is almost certain to step into the case over the presidential executive order issued by Trump that seeks to temporarily cut off visas for people from Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. A U.S. service member was killed in a vehicle accident in northern Syria on Friday, according to a statement from the anti-ISIS coaliton.
“A U.S. service member died of injuries sustained during a vehicle rollover in northern Syria, May 26, 2017,” said a statement from Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, the formal name for the military coalition helping to fight ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
“Further information will be released as appropriate,” the statement added, saying it is the coalition’s “policy to defer casualty identification procedures to the relevant national authorities.”
The United States has slightly more than 900 military personnel in Syria to advise and assist Kurdish and Arab rebel forces fighting ISIS.

This past Shabbos afternoon an 8 year old girl was the victim of a hit and run by a speeding driver, on East 31 Street, between Kings Highway and Avenue P.
Boruch Hashem she is recuperating; it is miraculous that she survived. This is the second accident on this block in a year. It’s a long block, with many young children and only a stop sign on the corner and many cars speeding. The community had tried for years to have a speed bump installed, only to have their requests rejected.
