Deputy Defense Minister Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan dismisses claims by Bennett's opponents that he is not religious enough.
Deputy Defense Minister Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan, in an interview with Arutz Sheva, rejected the claims of several candidates running against Education Minister Naftali Bennett in the primaries for the leadership of the Jewish Home party that they are more religious than the current party leadership.
"Maybe the public does not know enough [about it], but once a month, the seven senior rabbis in the religious Zionist community convene for a few hours of discussion dealing with areas related to the Jewish Home Party," Ben-Dahan said.

Thousands of PA Arab gathered in Ramallah last week calling to "liberate of Palestine from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea" and for the replacement of Israel with an Islamic Caliphate.
The rally was held with the permission of the Palestinian Authority leadership – even as PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas prepares for his visit in Washington next week where he will tell US President Donald Trump that he is committted to a "comprehensive and just peace" with Israel.
The PA's representative in Washington, Hossam Zamelt, said that Abbas will meet with Trump in the context of "his commitment to a just and comprehensive peace that achieves the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people."

Hadassah Hospitals spokesperson Hadar Elboim announced on Tuesday night the eve of 1 Rosh Chodesh Iyar that a security guard was dismissed from his post due to inappropriate behavior, allegedly using violence against a hospital visitor.
Immediately after learning of the incident, hospital directors ordered the guard suspended pending the outcome of a probe into the incident. Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital Director Prof. Yoram Weiss adds “We view the incident most seriously, the use of violence against a patient, visitor or staff member. We remain committed to providing service at Hadassah and we are sorry for the incident”.

President Donald Trump is lashing out at a judge’s ruling blocking his attempt to strip funds from “sanctuary cities” that don’t cooperate with U.S. immigration authorities, calling it “ridiculous” and vowing to go to the U.S. Supreme Court.

A state official in Jerusalem attacked this afternoon the UN’s so-called educational organization UNESCO, in light of another anti-Israel resolution it is expected to pass next week.
The resolution is expected to assert that Israel is not sovereign over Jerusalem, and to question Israel’s authority to carry out activity in the city.
“The management committee of UNESCO refuses to stop the politicization which is eroding the status of the organization,” the state source said.

Two men were injured after an escalator malfunctioned at the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan.
They were on the escalator around 7 a.m. when several of the stair treads buckled, and they sustained minor injuries.
The two were able to walk out of the hub, said a statement from the Port Authority, and were taken to New York Downtown Hospital for evaluation.

Internet companies are readying for a showdown with telecoms and a Republican-controlled government over a policy near and dear to their hearts: net neutrality.
Net neutrality basically prevents broadband providers from playing favorites or steering users toward (or away from) particular internet sites. Under rules enacted during the Obama administration, the likes of Comcast and Verizon – which offer their own video services they’d very much like subscribers to use – can’t slow down Netflix, can’t block YouTube, and can’t charge Spotify extra to stream faster than Pandora.

For the suspects in custody for assaulting a chareidi soldier in Beit Shemesh things are more complicated than they first believed. It appears in this case, the soldier was not a soldier but an Israel Police undercover detective disguised as a soldier. Two detectives walked through the frum area in IDF uniform and were attacked.
The suspects are being arraigned and will face criminal charges for their actions.

A major milestone will be reached by the NYPD on Thursday.
For the first time, the department’s patrol officers will be outfitted with body cameras.
Officers at the 34th precinct in Washington Heights will be the first to wear cameras.
20 precincts, with up to 1,200 officers, will get body cams by the end of this year.
It’s hoped all 22,000 patrol officers will have cameras by the end of 2019.

A man shot and killed a Delaware state trooper outside a convenience store Wednesday and later barricaded himself inside his house, where he continued to fire shots at officers, police said.
The trooper was shot multiple times and died at a hospital, state police Superintendent Col. Nathaniel McQueen said at a news conference.
“This is a sad day for our state and for the Delaware State Police family,” McQueen said, with Gov. John Carney at his side.
Cpl. Stephen J. Ballard, 32, was shot about 12:10 p.m. after he approached a vehicle in a convenience store parking lot. McQueen said the vehicle had two suspicious people inside.
One man got out of the car and shot the trooper several times before running away, McQueen said. The other man was arrested at the scene, he said.

Holocaust survivor Miri Amir was reunited with Miroslawa Gruszczynska, the woman whose family hid her from the Nazis in Poland during World War II. The reunion took place on Tuesday, 29 Nissan 5777. Amir hadn’t seen Gruszczynska in nearly 30 years, since the Gruszczynska family was awarded the title “Righteous Among the Nations” by Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.
