MEXICO CITY, Mexico -- As federal authorities in the United States await a decision on whether Mexican drug lord Joaquin ''El Chapo'' Guzman will be tried here, the danger to anyone close to El Chapo was underscored in an assassination Tuesday. The judge in his Mexico case was gunned down while jogging. The judge assigned to the El Chapo case in Chicago may have been paying closer attention than anyone to what happened in Mexico. Chief federal judge in Chicago Ruben Castillo would oversee the case if El Chapo were extradited there. His counterpart in Mexico on the El Chapo case was executed on a street near his home 30 miles west of Mexico City, a bold attack caught on camera that left authorities with few clues. In a video, you see judge Vicente Antonio Bermudez Z...

The controversial president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte, announced what he called his “separation” from the U.S. Thursday in his latest speech aimed at rankling Washington. “I announce my separation from the United States both in military and economics also,” Duterte announced to a cheering crowd in Beijing. He added, "America does not control our lives. Enough bulls---," according to AFP. Duterte has previously said the Philippines would stop joint military exercises with the U.S., and he opposes joint patrols with the U.S. Navy in the South China Sea. But U.S. officials say its commitment to the treaty alliance with the Philippines remains "ironclad."
The email at the heart of a "quid pro quo" controversy involving a senior State Department executive and the FBI contained intelligence about suspects in the 2012 Benghazi terrorist attack, two government sources told Fox News. Heavily redacted FBI interview summaries, known as 302s, state that Patrick Kennedy, a top lieutenant to Hillary Clinton when she was secretary of state, wanted to deep-six the email – which was one of two on her personal server that kick-started the FBI investigation into the mishandling of classified information on her unsecured system.   The Nov. 18, 2012 email sent to then-Secretary Clinton by aide Jake Sullivan contains the subject line "Fw:FYI - Report of arrests -- possible Benghazi connection."  It contains “B1” redactions for ...
During the third presidential debate, Hillary Clinton claimed that “33,000 people a year…die from guns.”  Fact-Check: FALSE This is a claim Clinton often makes to make gun violence appear to be raging out of control; to justify the government stepping in with more rules and regulations to keep the American people safe.  However, a Fact-Check shows Clinton’s claim is not only false, but is exaggerated by 66 percent.  She is using figures from 2013, and reporting them in a way that distorts what really happened with guns that year. Clinton first began making this claim in November 2015, repeated it in April 2016, and has since repeated it again and again. In April Breitbart News highlighted the method Clinton used to swell the numbers: ...
The leader of Britain’s Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn must “think very carefully” about antisemitism within his party, British Prime Minister Theresa May declared on Wednesday. May — the head of Britian’s governing Conservative Party who succeeded David Cameron at 10 Downing Street in July — made the statement during a Prime Minister’s Questions session, just days after the publication of a House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee report which found Labour had shown “demonstrable incompetence” in dealing with antisemitism within its ranks. In response to a question posed by Conservative MP Oliver Dowden, Maysaid: “I absolutely agree with my honorable friend that this house should send a very clear message that ...
Analysis: As long as the Egyptian army is growing stronger in order to transform the country into a leading force in the Sunni world and secure al-Sisi’s regime, Israel is silently trembling. But at some point, all that military strength could take on a different—perhaps hostile—meaning. There are people in Israel who have been feeling butterflies in their stomach for a long time now in light of the fact that Egypt, which is experiencing a deep economic crisis, has been purchasing the world’s most expensive weapons systems at quantities that rich Saudi Arabia would take pride in. Only recently, the Egyptian navy received a second Mistral-class helicopter carrier—a particularly expensive French system which was originally built for the Russian navy. The E...
The abysmal failure of most governments to display even a pretense of morality when formulating resolutions relating to international affairs was again highlighted by the latest outrageous resolution relating to Jerusalem endorsed by UNESCO. The promotion of this travesty by the Arab states merely highlights their manifestly false narrative denying Jewish continuity with Jerusalem. But it was the purportedly civilized countries, including the majority of European countries, many of whom claim to be friends of Israel, whose abstentions provided an aura of legitimacy to this obscene resolution. Such shameful behavior only serves to re-emphasize that these countries are solely motivated by short-term realpolitik, which induces their groveling to the Muslims even if this requires forfeiting m...
IG report reveals incomplete, lost contract files worth $6B The State Department misplaced and lost some $6 billion due to the improper filing of contracts during the past six years, mainly during the tenure of former Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, according to a newly released Inspector General report. The alert, originally sent on March 20 and just released this week, warns that the missing contracting funds “could expose the department to substantial financial losses.” The report centered on State Department contracts worth “more than $6 billion in w...
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has released its 2016 winter weather outlook for Maryland, nation. BALTIMORE, MD — There's no way Mother Nature would unleash a repeat of last year's record-setting blizzard on Maryland, is there? The chances seem small, according to a longterm weather forecast for winter 2016 just released by the experts at the National Weather Service, but other scientists disagree. Forecasters say the weather phenomenon known as La Nina is likely to play a big factor. It favors drier, warmer winters in the southern U.S and wetter, cooler conditions in the northern U.S. So, what does that mean for Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic states? The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Thursday put the region in a fuzzy "...
Donald Trump had a major announcement to make at the Delaware County, Ohio Fairgrounds Thursday: "I would like to promise and pledge to all of my voters and supporters and to all of the people of the United States that I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election." That is, he said after a beat: "If I win." The GOP nominee, coming off a fiery showdown in Las Vegas against Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, has come under heavy criticism after refusing to give a clear answer to whether he'd concede the results of the upcoming election if he lost to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton,...
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — Stopping to pick up a stray penny off the ground may not seem worth the effort, yet one bank is trying to change that mindset by placing 100 fake pennies across the country worth $1,000 apiece. The lucky pennies carry a copper color like real pennies, but feature the Detroit-based bank’s logo instead of Abraham Lincoln’s head. The flip side of the coin lists its value at 100,000 cents. A UN panel of experts has found evidence of "well-established networks" of arms suppliers in Eastern Europe and the Middle East that are fueling the war in South Sudan. In a confidential report to the Security Council obtained by AFP on Thursday, the panel described the arms deals that are not recent and involve Israeli and Bulgarian firms. The council has threatened to impose an arms embargo on South Sudan to try to end the fighting that has killed tens of thousands of people and driven 2.5 million from their homes. While the arms deals date back to 2014 or earlier, "This evidence nevertheless illustrates the well-established networks through which weapons procurement is coordinated from suppliers in Eastern Europe and the Middle East and then transferred through middlemen in eastern A...

Vice President of organization for French olim says far right French politician 'discriminates against everyone in the name of equality.' Arutz Sheva sat down with Miriam Lesser, the Vice President of Qualita, the umbrella group of organizations that deal with French immigration to Israel, to discuss the recent comments of far-right French politician Marine Le Pen, who called to ban the kippah in France. "The Jewish community does not take such things in stride," Lesser said. "We're angry, of course, but this was predictable given the way Le Pen has been gradually raising the severity of the steps she wishes to take to combat radical Islam." "The French government, like other governments which find themselves impotent in the face of radical Islam, leaves the e...
