The State Department said Thursday that it’s reviewing the records of more than 55 million foreigners who hold valid U.S. visas for potential revocation or deportable violations of immigration rules. In a written answer to a question posed by The Associated Press, the department said that all U.S. visa holders are subject to “continuous vetting” with an eye toward any indication that they could be ineligible for the document. Should such information be found, the visa will be revoked and, if the visa holder is in the United States, he or she would be subject to deportation. The department said it was looking for indicators of ineligibility including visa overstays, criminal activity, threats to public safety, engaging in any form of terrorist activity, or providing sup...

Baltimore, MD - Aug. 21, 2025 - With the start of the school year approaching, Maryland officials are reminding drivers about state laws requiring them to stop for school buses and the significant penalties for violations. State law requires all drivers to stop when they encounter a stopped school bus, but enforcement data shows many motorists continue to ignore this safety requirement. Last school year, Maryland issued 20,000 automatic citations for drivers who illegally passed school buses. However, officials believe the actual number of violations may be much higher since only nine out of Maryland's 24 school districts have automatic enforcement cameras on their buses. Costly consequences for violations Drivers who pass stopped school buses face substantial financial penaltie...

New York - An appeals court has thrown out the massive civil fraud penalty against President Donald Trump, ruling Thursday in New York state’s lawsuit accusing him of exaggerating his wealth. The decision came seven months after the Republican returned to the White House. A panel of five judges in New York’s mid-level Appellate Division said the verdict, which stood to cost Trump over $515 million and rock his real estate empire, was “excessive.” After finding that Trump engaged in fraud by flagrantly padding financial statements that went to lenders and insurers, Judge Arthur Engoron ordered him last year to pay $355 million in penalties. With interest, the sum has topped $515 million. The total — combined with penalties levied on some...

Hale outlined his vision and priorities for the state, and focused on economic growth, public safety, education, and quality of life. The owner of the Baltimore Blast, Hale is now 78-years-old, and originally announced his intentions to run for governor as a Democrat in May. "I was the worker kid, cutting the grass, painting houses, things like that," he said in May. The self-made businessman has a wide range of professional experience. With no family money or college education, he went on to join the military before becoming the CEO of First Mariner bank, which went bankrupt during the Great Recession and w...
