Dear Friends, Supporters & Family,
With profound sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Rav Dovid Frid Z"l, who returned his soul to Hashem on Shabbat March, 22. He left this world after sudden complications which tragically escalated, overwhelming his body in a matter of hours.
For the past 15 years, Rav Dovid was not only a beacon of strength and Emunah, but a true warrior — living each day with courage, dignity, and deep devotion to Torah despite his health challenges. By his side every moment stood his beloved wife Rochel who, together with their children, was fully devoted to his care. Their lives revolved around keeping Rav Dovid comfortable, cared for, and surrounded by love.
Now Rochel and the family are facing an unimag...

Trump admin freezes $2.3 billion in Harvard funding
US Department of Education freezes $2.3 billion in funding to Harvard University after the school pushed back on demands made by the government, including to clamp down on campus antisemitism.
The Trump administration has halted approximately $2.3 billion in federal funding allocated to Harvard University following the school’s refusal to comply with directives from the White House targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, Reuters reported.
According to an announcement on Monday from the US Department of Education, the decision encompasses a freeze on $2.2 billion in grant money, as well as $60 million in federal contracts previously designated for the Ivy League institution.

Annapolis, MD - Apil 14, 2025 - Maryland joins 16 other states suing the Trump administration for blocking access to hundreds of millions of dollars in pandemic-era education funding.
On March 28, the Department of Education notified states that it was unilaterally ending access to hundreds of millions of dollars in grants from the American Rescue Plan Act and the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.
Previously, states were told they could access these funds through March 2026.
“The Trump Administration’s decision to cut this funding has thrown Maryland schools into turmoil and uncertainty and threatens valuable programs that help homeless and low-income students recover from the painful effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Attorney...
Baltimore, MD - Apri 14, 2025 - Gas prices are dropping ahead of the summer travel season and experts say they'll likely stay low through this year.
The national average price for a gallon of gas on Monday was $3.13, according to GasBuddy. That's down eight cents over the past week and down nearly 50 cents from a year ago.
Typically, this time of the year is when the price of gas starts to climb. Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, says over the past 10 years, the average national gas price hit its peak on or around April 10. That won't be the case this year because of tariffs, De Haan says.
"Tariffs can constrain in a significant way the global economy as well as the U.S. economy, and that can send gasoline demand globally much lower," De Hann sa...

A man scaled an iron security fence in the middle of the night, eluded police and broke into the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion where he set a fire that left significant damage and forced Gov. Josh Shapiro, his family and guests to evacuate the building, authorities said Sunday.
The man, captured later in the day, will face charges of attempted murder, terrorism, aggravated arson and aggravated assault, authorities said.
Shapiro said he, his wife, their four children, two dogs and another family had celebrated the Jewish holiday of Passover at the residence on Saturday and were awakened by state troopers pounding on their doors at about 2 a.m. Sunday. They fled and firefighters extinguished the fire, officials said. No one was injured.

An immigration judge has ruled that Mahmoud Khalil can be deported from the United States due to his involvement in leading last year’s pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.
Judge Jamee Comans in Louisiana ruled on Friday that Khalil, 30, can be deported, saying that the U.S. government met its burden of proof to remove him.
Khalil's team of attorneys have until April 23 to file relief applications.
On Tuesday, Comans ordered the federal government to provide evidence by Wednesday justifying its attempt to deport Khalil.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio responded on behalf of the government in a roughly one-and-a-half-page letter sent to the court on Wednesday. He cited a provision in the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 to justify Khalil'...
There are two major concepts which form the driving force of the Hagaddah and the Seder in general. First, is the Chiyuv Sipur Yitzias Mitraim, and the second is that one must feel as if he himself is being taken out of Mitzraim on the night of Pesach, an idea discussed more fully in the Hagaddah.
With these two concepts being the principal themes, how then does the final part of the Seder, Nirtzah, fit into this framework? These intriguing, yet seemingly unrelated songs, raise a significant question as to exactly what role they play in the Seder and by extension, the Yom Tov of Pesach.
On a simplistic level one could answer their function is similar to that of the Afikoman and Mah Nishtana - to heighten the interest and enjoyment of the Seder for the...
As we bask in the afterglow of our Sedarim, where we retold the story of Yitzias Mitzrayim and we prepare for the last days of Pesach, where we mark Kriyas Yam Suf, it is easy to lose sight of the tumultuous days which occurred between these two amazing events. B’nei Yisroel leave Mitzrayim behind in the distance, only to realize that the Mitzrim have had a change of heart again and were in hot pursuit. Of course, we would assume that having just witnessed the Maccos and the Multiple Nissim that Hashem had done for them, that Bnei Yosroel would not be afraid – surely Hashem would protect them and punish the Mitzrim again. Yet, they were afraid, they were “very” afraid. The Torah tells us that they saw Mitzrayim chasing after them and they wer...

Baltimore County, MD - April 11, 2025 - I am proud of the robust investments in education, public safety, transportation, recreation and parks, road resurfacing, curbs, gutters and sidewalks and many other capital projects. In the 2nd District, we secured more than $3 million for the redevelopment of the Pikesville Armory, $9-plus million for sidewalk improvements in Pikesville and Windsor Mill and $5-plus million in recreation and parks enhancements in Gwynn Oak, Lutherville-Timonium, Ruxton and Pikesville. Additionally, every community in the 2nd District will see significant improvements in quality-of-life issues with this budget. None of this would have been possible without the support and efforts of our...
