WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President-elect Donald Trump will nominate former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as ambassador to Israel, Trump announced Tuesday.
Huckabee is a staunch defender of Israel and his intended nomination comes as Trump has promised to align U.S. foreign policy more closely with Israel’s interests as it wages wars against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
“Mike has been a great public servant, Governor, and Leader in Faith for many years,” Trump said in a statement. “He loves Israel, and the people of Israel, and likewise, the people of Israel love him. Mike will work tirelessly to bring about Peace in the Middle East!”

A New York judge delayed plans Tuesday to decide whether President-elect Trump’s conviction can withstand the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling, following his election victory last week.
In an email to Manhattan prosecutors and Trump’s attorneys, Judge Juan Merchan said he would freeze the case until Nov. 19. Prosecutors are due to provide by then an update on what they believe are the appropriate next steps now that he is president-elect.

Especially now, where most tolls are cashless and video monitored.
A new inspector general's report reveals local governments are no exception to the rule.
From January 2022 to March of 2024, Baltimore County reportedly racked up $17,289.13 in unpaid tolls.
During that period Baltimore County government vehicles were issued 460 citations.
A good portion of the outstanding balance was in overdue penalties.
The Inspector General noted how not all County vehicles were equipped with E-Z passes.
In some cases where there was an E-Z pass, the accounts were either in the negative or not properly registered.

Following Israel's strikes in Iran earlier in October, Iran is building a "defensive tunnel" in the capital Tehran, reported the semi-official Tasnim news agency on Tuesday.
The tunnel, said to be located near the city centre, aims to link a station on the Tehran metro to the Imam Khomeini hospital. The idea is to create a direct underground access to the medical facility.
"For the first time in the country, a tunnel with defensive applications is being built in Tehran," the head of transport for Tehran City Council told Tasnim.

A Shabbat of Comfort
This past Shabbat in Jerusalem, I joined a gathering that words alone can barely capture. More than 50 bereaved families—bound not by choice but by tragedy—were invited by the "Menucha V'Yeshua" organization to find solace and strength in each other’s company. Among them were mothers, fathers, siblings, and children.
I hadn’t known Liz Chalfon, but I met her mother and two of her sisters on Shabbat. Liz and her husband Meir were among those murdered at Kibbutz Chulit on the morning of Simchat Torah, leaving their 8-year-old daughter Adi to survive the horror.
