Baltimore, MD - Aug. 11, 2025 - Baltimore Gas and Electric is asking customers to conserve electricity through Monday evening due to an unplanned disconnection at a power plant, which may lead to temporary outages. BGE said it has coordinated with the plant’s owner to make the necessary repairs as quickly and safely as possible. PJM Interconnection is also evaluating whether there is enough power in the region. “We are asking all BGE customers to conserve electricity beginning immediately and through this evening, a BGE spokesperson said. “Energy conservation helps reduce the potential for an outage.” If an outage becomes necessary, BGE said it will make efforts to alert customers in advance. Baltimore, MD - Aug. 11, 2025 - President Donald Trump again referenced Baltimore while speaking about crime. This time, it was during an announcement on Monday that the president is deploying the National Guard across Washington, D.C., and taking over the Metropolitan Police Department in the hopes of reducing crime, even as the city's mayor has noted that crime is falling in the nation's capital. "This issue directly impacts the functioning of the federal government and is a threat to America, a threat to our country," Trump said. "We have other cities also that are bad, very bad. You look at Chicago, how bad it is, you look at Los Angeles, how bad it is, other cities that are very bad, New York is a problem, and then you have of course, Baltimore and Oakland — you...
New evidence calls into question a story that went viral, alleging that IDF forces shot and killed a Gazan child at an aid distribution site, the Daily Wire reported today (Monday). Former Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) contractor Tony Aguilar claimed that on May 28, he watched a boy called “Amir” be gunned down by IDF soldiers at a GHF site. However, videos obtained by the Daily Wire show a woman who claims to be the boy's stepmother stating that "Amir" was still alive two months after the day Aguilar claimed he was killed. The woman, Siham Al-Jarabe’a, identified the boy as Abdul Rahim Mohammed Hamdan Al-Jarabe’a, and stated that he only went missing on July 28. She stated that she believes her stepson to be still alive. The GHF de...

105 Years Young It’s not clear whether she’s the oldest Jewish woman in the world, but her grandchildren say she is certainly the most charming. They believe her historic birthday, celebrated recently in London, is not just a family event—it carries messages for all of us. Yes, they have documentation— 105 years ago, on July 11, 1920, baby Rachel (Renee) was born in London to Jewish immigrants who had fled from Romania and Russia. During World War II, she worked as a typist in the British postal service, living through the Nazi blitz on London. After the war, she married Grandpa Joe (Yosef David), and they had two sons, Shlomo and Anthony. The family earned a living from a clothing manufacturing business. Joe passed away at age 74, and Renee continued to run the b...
Baltimore, MD - Aug. 11, 2025  -   Maryland tax-free week, an annual tax holiday that removes the 6% sales tax from clothing and shoes under $100, started Sunday. And while it’s touted as a way to offer families the opportunity to shop at a reduced cost, it also yields a revenue loss for the state. The comptroller’s office wrote to The Sun in an email that the Maryland Bureau of Revenue Estimates projects that the state will lose $9.3 million in revenue as a result of the tax-free week. Against the backdrop of the state’s looming budget deficit, the loss in revenue may seem concerning to some, but Benjamin Orr, the CEO of the Maryland Center on Economic Policy CEO, said that in the context of the state budget, “this is a relatively small amount of m...

A detour has been set up to route vehicles through the Maryland House while the closure remains in effect.
Jerusalem, Israel - Aug. 11, 2025 - Offensive graffiti was sprayed on the southern section of the Kotel, reading in Hebrew: "There is a Holocaust in Gaza." The Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitch, voiced sorrow and strong protest: "A holy site is not a place to protest, no matter what it may be, sevenfold when it is done at the most sacred site for the entire Jewish people. The police must investigate the act, find the perpetrators of this desecration, and bring them to trial." A similar incident occurred in the past on the northern section of the wall. Complex cleaning work, surrounded by halachic dilemmas due to the sanctity of the site, needed to be conducted. This time too, Rabbi Rabinovitch will instruct the professional teams on how to remove the wri...

The IDF on Sunday night eliminated in Gaza City the terrorist Anas Al-Sharif, who posed as a journalist for the Al Jazeera network. According to a statement from the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, Anas Al-Sharif served as the head of a terrorist cell in the Hamas terrorist organization and was responsible for advancing rocket attacks against Israeli civilians and IDF troops. The IDF had previously disclosed intelligence information and many documents found in the Gaza Strip, confirming his military affiliation to Hamas. The documents once again confirm his involvement in terrorist activities, from which the Al Jazeera network has attempted to disassociate itself. The documents include personnel rosters, lists of terrorist training courses, phone directories, and sala...

The investigation and recovery efforts at the residence in the 3000 block of Declaration Court North are expected to continue into the late evening. Officials said the fire was reported around 8:40 a.m., prompting a response from the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department and several surrounding departments. When fire crews arrived, the situation was quickly escalated to a two-alarm fire due to reports of entrapment. Officials said that six total people died in the incident. All six lived at the dwelling, along with three others - one of whom escaped, while the other two were not home when the fire broke...
Baltimore, MD - Aug. 10, 2025  - When Jeffrey Herf first learned that America’s largest teachers’ union plans to promote a version of history that erases Jews from the Holocaust story, the news struck him as frightening but hauntingly familiar. Herf has made a career of researching and writing on anti-Jewish sentiment. His most recent book, “Three Faces of Antisemitism,” explores the roots of irrational Jew hatred. Herf, an emeritus history professor at the University of Maryland, sees the National Education Association’s take on history as echoing the kind of thinking that has helped lay the groundwork for unthinkable mass tragedy — and he believes it’s especially dangerous at a time when antisemitic acts are surging in Baltimore, acro...
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a press conference in English on Sunday following the Security Cabinet's decision to take control of Gaza. Watch here "Hamas still has thousands of armed terrorists in Gaza. They vow to repeat the savagery of the October 7th Massacre and to do so again, and again, and again. It openly professes its goals to destroy Israel. It subjugates Gazans, it steals their food, and it shoots them when they try to move to safe zones. It's instructive that now, many Gazans are fighting back. They're begging us and the world, 'Free us, and free Gaza from Hamas,'" Netanyahu opened. He continued: "No nation could accept a genocidal terrorist organization, an organization committed to its annihilation, a stone's throw from its citizens....
A fire early Friday morning destroyed a historic synagogue and Jewish community center in Rutherford, New Jersey, as the congregation’s rabbi and his family escaped unharmed. The four-alarm fire broke out at approximately 2:45 a.m. at Congregation Beth El Chabad. Rabbi Yitzchok Lerman, his wife, and four of their children were sleeping in an apartment inside the synagogue. Rutherford Mayor Frank Nunziato stated that there are no indications that the blaze was intentionally set. Officers near the congregation responded to the scene, where they found that the entire south side of the building was engulfed in flames, according to Rutherford Police Department Chief John Russo. Lerman and his family were able to escape the building unharmed, after which the fire spread throughout the ...
MK Meir Porush (United Torah Judaism), who has started a hunger strike outside the office of Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara in protest of the arrests of haredi draft dodgers, warns in an interview with Arutz Sheva-Israel National News that the controversy surrounding the conscription law could escalate into a civil war. "We are getting closer to a situation of a civil war in the State of Israel between the haredim and the secular Israelis. All this is inspired by the Attorney General. This is what she is causing," Parush warns. He emphasizes that, in his view, there is a real concern about further radicalization by the Attorney General. "I think that she intends to publish an announcement next week that haredim can't travel on the roads since the roads are being funded by the T...
A joint operation by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) and Jerusalem District police has led to the arrest of a father, his son, and an accomplice from Kafr Aqab in eastern Jerusalem, suspected of planning a series of terrorist attacks against security forces and civilians. According to the investigation, the father and son — employed in central Israel — purchased firearms, explosives, and components for manufacturing improvised explosive devices (IEDs). They assembled the devices in apartments converted into bomb-making laboratories, after learning the methods from online videos. The father, who sought financial backing from a terrorist organization, was caught after selling IEDs to an undercover police agent. The explosives were intended for attacks against Jews. He had...
A Washington Post op-ed by columnist Marc A. Thiessen, on Tuesday, was titled: "Hunger in Gaza has many authors, but Israel isn’t one of them". Thiessen noted the 1,829,520 meals that Israel provided to Gazans through the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and added that the meals are "enough to feed nearly the entire Gazan population." To counter the claims that Israel is deliberately causing starvation in Gaza, the op-ed stated that "Israel is doing something no nation has ever done, or even been expected to do: Feed the population of the aggressor force that attacked it while the war is still going on." Thiessen added: "The United States did not feed Germany and Japan while the war was going on; we forced their armies to surrender and then fed their populations." He emphasi...
