Benjamin Netanyahu remains Israel's prime minister following the election, but his bloc won only 53 seats, short of the 61 needed for a majority. Opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot now faces the challenge of forming a government from parties that agree on replacing Netanyahu but disagree on how to move forward.
Likud won 27 seats, while Eisenkot's Yashar party secured 21. The remaining opposition parties hold a combined 48 seats, while Arab parties won 19.
Although parties outside Netanyahu's bloc have enough seats to form a majority together, they have not agreed to work as a coalition. Several opposition leaders, including Avigdor Liberman and Naftali Bennett, have rejected relying on Arab parties to support a government.
Eisenkot could potentially form a minority governme...
Baltimore, MD – November 2, 2026 - Exciting progress continues at Torah Institute/Yeshivas Kochav Yitzchak, where construction of the Cheder's new building is moving steadily forward. With classrooms beginning to take shape and major infrastructure work advancing, the vision of an expanded campus is becoming a reality before the community's eyes.
Among the latest milestones, rock patch drilling is nearly complete, marking an important step in preparing the site for continued construction. The retaining wall is also nearing completion, providing a critical foundation for the expanding campus.
Perhaps most exciting is the visible progress on five new classrooms, where walls are already going up. These future learning spaces will provide additional room for talmidim to grow ...

Iraq has opened its first museum dedicated to the country's Jewish history, preserving the legacy of a community that once numbered as many as 150,000 people but has dwindled to only a handful of Jews remaining in the country.
The Jewish Shamash Museum opened in Baghdad's historic Al-Rashid Street, inside the former Shamash Jewish Secondary School. Founded in 1928, the school became one of Baghdad's leading educational institutions, enrolling more than 900 students by 1939.
The museum features historical documents, photographs, school records, religious artifacts, traditional clothing and household items, along with recorded interviews documenting the experiences of Iraqi Jews. More than 1,000 people reportedly visited on opening day.

IDF troops operating in the security zone in southern Lebanon found Hezbollah posters on the walls of a child's bedroom and a weapons cache in the same civilian home, the military said Sunday.
The discovery was made while soldiers of the IDF's 769th Brigade were dismantling Hezbollah terror infrastructure in the El-Khiam area, a few kilometers north of Israel's border near Metula. El-Khiam sits on high ground overlooking the Hula Valley and northern Israeli communities that were targeted by Hezbollah fire during the war.
In footage released by the IDF, posters of Hezbollah figures, including the terror group's former leader Hassan Nasrallah, can be seen hanging in the child's room. Nasrallah was eliminated in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut in September 2024. The ...

Hundreds of Chassidim traveled to Baltimore to spend Shabbos with the Rebbe, joining the local community for an inspiring Shabbos filled with Torah, tefillah, and hisorerus.
A highlight of the Shabbos was an inspiring Shalosh Seudos at Mercaz Torah U’Tefillah, the shul of the Zidichover Rebbe, shlit”a, where a large crowd gathered together with the Loitzker Rebbe in an atmosphere of warmth and kedushah.
The memorable Shabbos concluded with Havdalah at Mercaz, bringing a beautiful close to a special Shabbos of chizuk and connection.
Nearly 90 years after it closed during World War II, the historic Radin Yeshiva in Belarus has reopened as a functioning Torah institution, restoring a site founded by the Chofetz Chaim in 1869.
Located in the town of Radun in western Belarus, the yeshiva once housed approximately 300 students and was one of the leading centers of Torah learning in Eastern Europe. After the Soviet Union took control of the region, authorities seized the building and eventually converted it into a theater. Its Jewish history was largely forgotten, and today there are no Jews living in the town.
The effort to restore the yeshiva began after Canadian Rabbi Dovid Hofstedter visited the building five years ago and discovered its former use. While he was delivering a lecture, local residents entered the buildi...
A bus driver was killed and 24 people were wounded Friday morning when a bus collided with a tractor on Route 25 in southern Israel, near the Shibolim agricultural community.
The bus was transporting a group of girls on a field trip, according to Israel’s Fire and Rescue Service, which sent crews to free people trapped inside the vehicle.
Magen David Adom said the driver, a man approximately 50 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene after being extricated from the bus. Among the wounded were a 61-year-old woman in serious condition, a 35-year-old in moderate condition and 22 others who sustained light injuries.
All those injured were transported to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon or Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba.

The IDF killed a Hamas commander who was involved in holding 12 Israeli hostages in Gaza during the early stages of the war, including Noa Argamani, Emily Hand and Ohad Ben Ami.
Ihab Jamil Abu Taqiya, a squad commander in Hamas’s military wing, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in the Nuseirat area on Thursday. The hostages identified by the military were later released or had their bodies returned to Israel. Another Hamas operative, Ibrahim Gihad Muhammad Abu Oshaiba, a platoon commander, was also killed in the strike.
The IDF said both men had been involved in advancing attacks against Israeli forces and civilians and rebuilding Hamas’s military capabilities, including in recent weeks, in violation of the ceasefire. The military said it took steps to reduce the risk to civ...

When Karl Bushby left the southern tip of Chile on November 1, 1998, he had just $500 in his pocket and a plan to walk home to Hull, England. The former British paratrooper estimated the journey would take about 12 years. Instead, what became known as the Goliath Expedition stretched into a 28-year adventure covering approximately 36,000 miles.
Bushby set two rules for himself: he would not use transportation to advance the journey, and he would not return to the United Kingdom until it was complete. Visa restrictions sometimes forced him to leave countries before he could continue. During those breaks, he would return to Mexico or the United States, but whenever he resumed the expedition, he had to pick up at the exact spot where he had stopped.
The route took him through South and Cent...

Have you ever wondered where in Shemoneh Esrei we pray to be blessed with children?
I was recently speaking to a talmid of the great Gaon, Rav Zvi Kushelevsky — who remarkably was blessed with his only child at the age of eighty-eight — and asked him if he ever inquired of his Rebbe where in davening he requested for this blessing.
He told me that indeed he did and his Rebbe said in the blessing of Refaeinu.
At first, it seemed odd to me that this was the appropriate place to daven for children.
But as it was the week of the portion we read with the miraculous birth of Yitzchok — the link to the eternity of the Jewish nation through all his progeny, something suddenly struck me.
When Avimelech abducts the beautiful Sarah after Avraham introduced her simpl...
