Baltimore, MD - Jan. 7, 2025 - Though Gov. Wes Moore has signaled an interest in allowing liquor to be sold in Maryland grocery stores, state Senate President Bill Ferguson said Monday that it isn’t at the top of his list of legislative priorities.
“This is not something that we’re going to be spending a lot of brain power trying to figure out,” Ferguson said in an interview Monday with The Baltimore Sun.

Baltimore County, MD - Jan. 7, 2025 - A new Baltimore County Executive has been chosen.
Maryland State Senator Katherine Klausmeier will replace now Congressman Johnny Olszewski.
The Baltimore County Council announced their selection Tuesday morning, following a two-month search.
Klausmeier will serve in office until the 2026 elections, which is the end of the current term.
The Council settled on Klausmeier after considering a dozen candidates.
A Baltimore native, Klausmeier has represented parts of Baltimore County in the Maryland General Assembly for nearly 30 years, first as a Delegate from 1995 to 2003, and then as a Senator from 2003 until now.
She was named President Pro Tempore of the State Senate in 2019-20.
Olszewski issued a statement endorsing Klausmeier.

Baltimore, MD - Jan.6, 2025 - The Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW) announces service changes due to the lingering effects of Monday’s snowstorm. Trash and recycling collections will be postponed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7, 2025, due to inclement weather and ongoing low temperatures. Rather than Tuesday’s collection being postponed until Saturday, Tuesday’s collection will resume on Wednesday, January 8. The remainder of the week’s trash and recycling pickups will also be postponed to the next day:
