Beit Shemesh, Israel - Oct. 20, 2024 - I often write articles about people whose names adorn street signs in cities across the State of Israel, to learn about individuals who have left their mark on the Jewish nation. Nowadays, new names are emblazoned in public areas across our country, and their legacies are inspiring our country. Since October 7th, grassroots campaigns have taken place to educate the public about our heroic warriors who died Al Kiddush Hashem protecting our nation. The medium used is the humble bumper sticker. These stickers usually feature the person’s name, photo, date of passing, and a quote or value reflecting their spirit. What began with a few stickers has evolved into a widespread movement of creating multiple-sticker memorials. These memorials now appear...

Feeling Displaced Our people have suffered greatly this past year. Many Jews were murdered, thousands wounded, and over one hundred remain in captivity. In addition, over 100,000 Israelis were displaced from their homes, and tens of thousands remain displaced a full year later. Throughout this year, we have worked to empathize with those in pain. Sukkot reminds us of those living in temporary conditions as we are commanded to do the same. The mitzvah of sukkah requires more than just eating meals in the sukkah; it involves moving our lives and most cherished items from home to sukkah. The mishnah teaches us that “for all seven days, we make the sukkah our dirat keva (permanent dwelling).”[1] Though the sukkah serves as our dirat keva, it must be constructed as a dirat arai ...
A drone from Lebanon was launched toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea on Saturday, his spokesman said, adding that the premier was not in the vicinity and there were no casualties. No warning sirens were sounded in the northern city ahead of the drone impact and explosion. A diplomatic source told The Jerusalem Post on Saturday night that Israel plans to retaliate for the attempted assassination of Netanyahu by Hezbollah, explaining that ultimately Iran is responsible. Israel has claimed that it was fired at Netanyahu’s home in that city, but that neither the prime minister nor his family were home at the time. It has not been confirmed whether ...
Baltimore, MD - Oct. 19, 2024 - Since the onset of the pandemic, many industries have switched to virtual platforms, and the healthcare sector is no exception. Sinai Hospital has embraced this trend by implementing a Virtual Nursing Pilot Program, which has not only relieved the workload but also brought patients closer to their healthcare providers. The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Sinai Hospital, which houses 30 beds and essential medical equipment, now also features virtual nurses. These virtual nurses, while physically located within the hospital, assist with patient education, admissions, and discharges from the unit. Carrie McAteer, the lead on the Virtual Nursing Pilot Program, emphasized that virtual nurses are not meant to replace bedside nurses but rather to lighten their work...
Forensic experts at the National Center of Forensic Medicine (Abu Kabir) have concluded their meticulous examination of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, who was successfully eliminated by IDF troops on Thursday. In a move that hints at strategic considerations, the remains were promptly transferred to an undisclosed site, fueling speculation about their potential role in future negotiations. The autopsy findings paint a vivid picture of Sinwar's final moments. The primary cause of death appears to be a long-range gunshot wound to the head, executed with sniper-like precision. However, this was not the only mark of violence on the body. Examiners noted additional trauma consistent with shell impact, and the corpse was riddled with shrapnel fragments after the house where he was st...
