Baltimore, MD - July 27, 2027 - Throughout the school year, Jewish Educational Services regularly convenes Early Childhood Directors from across the community, creating opportunities for collaboration, problem-solving, and shared learning. This summer, they built on those connections by hosting their very first Early Childhood Directors' Retreat, a special day designed to recognize and celebrate the incredible work these professionals do every day.
The retreat brought together 22 participants representing 15 early childhood programs, nearly every Jewish early childhood program in our community. While each school has its own culture, philosophy, and unique needs, the day revealed just how much these leaders have in common.

Much has been written about the relatively minor differences between the Aseres Hadibros given by Hashem in Parshas Yisro and those repeated in this week’s Parsha. Some of the commentaries add beautiful thoughts and reasons for these distinctions. Nevertheless, we cannot lose sight of the fact that in something as significant as the Aseres Hadibros, each word, each letter requires the utmost concentration in study and analysis so that any slight changes are not glossed over or Chas V'Shalom, lost on us.

Each evening before we recite the Shema, we say the blessing of Ahavas Olam expressing gratitude for G-d's eternal love.
Towards the end of the blessing we add a prayer, ואהבתך אל תסיר ממנו לעולמים — May You not remove Your love from us forever.
This sentiment seems to contradict our earlier assertion of G-d's eternal love. If indeed it is eternal, it must be unconditional. So, what meaning can there be to requesting He should never rescind it, it's guaranteed?
Perhaps the second sentiment is not referring to G-d's love, but rather a plea that אהבתך — the reciprocal love we possess for You — G-d, shall never be removed.
