Message from a Doctor From Soroka Hospital
“How many times can one woman say Birkat HaGomel?” That’s what Dr. Yehudit Nachum said to me this past Shabbat.
I had come to speak to the Scanning and Recovery Unit of Division 98—the IDF unit responsible for locating and identifying the victims of October 7th—as part of a Shabbat of strengthening for bereaved families. “We’re from Moshav Shokeda, right next to Kibbutz Be’eri. On October 7th 2023, my husband was called up for reserve duty early in the morning, and I stayed home with our five children—t...

Baltimore, MD - June 23, 2025 - One Maryland school district finds itself in federal court again over a hot button political issue.
A middle school teacher in Montgomery County is accusing her principal and the board of education of "unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination in violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution."
Hibah Sayed teaches science and coding to sixth and seventh grade students at Sligo Middle School in Silver Spring.
On her classroom door, Sayed had several flag stickers, including of Palestine.
Last October she noticed the Palestinian sticker had been taken down.
When asked about its removal, the school's principal allegedly told her the flag could be construed as “antisemitic” or “supporting terrorism.”

The threat of sleeper cells in the U.S. has “never been higher,” though there are no current specific threats, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
A memo sent Saturday from CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott, obtained by The Hill’s sister network NewsNation, said “thousands of Iranian nationals have been documented entering the United States illegally and countless more were likely in the known and unknown got-a-ways.”

The memo urged CBP personnel to remain “vigilant.”

While the Parliament has voted in favor of closing the strait, the final decision rests with the country’s Supreme National Security Council, according to state media.
Closing the strait, located between Iran and Oman, could have serious implications for both the global and U.S. economy.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Fox News on Sunday morning that China should ask Iran to keep the shipping lane open because of Asia’s need for oil delivered through the strait. He warned Iran against the action.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was mistakenly deported by the Trump administration to El Salvador then returned to the U.S. amid a legal battle, was ordered released from jail on Sunday by a Tennessee judge while he awaits federal trial.
The government, however, is expected to quickly detain him upon his release, which U.S. Magistrate Judge Barbara Holmes scheduled a Wednesday hearing to discuss.
The Justice Department has filed a motion to appeal the judge’s release order.
At a detention hearing on June 13, prosecutors said U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would take Abrego Garcia into custody if he were released on the criminal charges, and he could be deported before he has a chance to stand trial.
The new charges stem from a 2022 traffic stop in Tennessee. Abreg...
