Baltimore, MD - Feb. 24, 2025 - At Mesivta Kesser Torah, we take pride in every bochur—in his growth, his hasmadah, and his place in the mesorah of Klal Yisroel. Each talmid is not just a part of the yeshiva; he is a treasured jewel upon its crown.
This was so vividly seen this past month, as we gathered for two extraordinary events:
שאל אביך ויגדך – A powerful father-son learning event, where fathers and sons connected through the eternal bond of Torah.
זקניך ויאמרו לך – A special grandfather-grandson learning event, where generations joined together to share in the mesorah, strengthening the crown of Torah that has been passed down for centuries.
At Kesser Torah, this is our mission: to instill in each talmid...
Baltimore, MD - Feb. 25, 2025 - The Baltimore City Council approved a resolution on Monday night, calling on the state to drop a planned rate hike in 2026, which is part of a multi-year plan.
The resolution urged the Maryland Public Service Commission, responsible for regulating utilities in the state, to back out of the planned multi-year rate increase for 2026.
The resolution, introduced by council president Zeke Cohen, cites an order that allows the rate plan to be canceled “in the event of extraordinary circumstances that call into question whether the existing rates are just and reasonable.”
It urges the state to take "action to bring an end to the multi-year rate increase impacting Baltimore residents and businesses and put people over profits."
"Look- we ...
President Herzog:
"Oded, my dear, unfortunately, I never had the privilege of knowing you personally. But since our day of disaster—October 7—you have become a part of all our lives. In fact, like so many in our nation, I feel that I already know you well: from the interviews, speeches, and conversations of the remarkable Yocheved; from countless hours of discussions with your impressive family; from reading the articles of Nachum Barnea and your fellow journalists about you; and from the stories shared by more and more of your friends—who loved you dearly—who have made you a familiar face across Israel and around the world. You embodied the quintessential Israeli spirit: an embodiment of your generation, of your homeland.

Annapolis, Md - Feb. 24, 2025 - Maryland Gov. Wes Moore provided a sharp critique while speaking to reporters on Monday of his meeting with President Donald Trump.
Moore and a bipartisan group of governors attended a luncheon at the White House on Friday. It was the same event where Trump verbally clashed with the governor of Maine.
The lack of engagement from Trump was disheartening, underwhelming and frustrating, said Moore, a Democrat.
Moore, a newly appointed member of the National Governors Association, said the meeting went off the rails when Trump came in and launched into an hour-long diatribe of conspiracy theories and attacks on some fellow governors.
“The things that alarmed me the most… was what I didn’t hear,” Moore said. “I didn’...
Barnard College has expelled two senior students who disrupted an Israeli history class last month by banging drums, chanting “Free Palestine,” and distributing fliers that depicted a boot stomping on a Star of David, JTA reported on Monday.
The incident, which took place on the first day of the semester, quickly gained widespread attention on social media. Videos circulating online showed four individuals wearing keffiyehs as masks entering a Columbia University course titled “History of Modern Israel” and interrupting the lecture.
The university suspended one of the protesters enrolled at Columbia and referred two others to an “affiliated institution” for disciplinary action. Columbia and Barnard, which share m...
Germany's likely next chancellor, Friedrich Merz, announced on Monday that he had extended an invitation to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a visit, adding that arrangements would be made to prevent Netanyahu from being arrested under an International Criminal Court (ICC) warrant issued against him.
"I think it is a completely absurd idea that an Israeli prime minister cannot visit the Federal Republic of Germany," Merz stated during a press conference, a day after his conservative party secured the largest share of votes in the national election, as quoted by Reuters.
Merz added that he had spoken to Netanyahu over the phone, assuring him "that we would find ways and means for him to visit Germany and leave again without being arrested."

Fabric and crafts retailer Joann Inc., which has been a destination for generations of quilters, knitters and lovers of crafts projects for 80 years, is going out of business and shuttering all its stores.
The announcement comes after the Hudson, Ohio-based retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January, the second time in a year. It cited sluggish consumer demand and inventory shortages. At the time it vowed it would keep all of its stores open.
But earlier this month, Joann said it planned to close 500 stores — or more than half of its nationwide footprint. The company said on Sunday that after a recent auction, financial services company GA Group, together with Joann's term lenders, were selected as the winning bidder to "acquire substantially...

The Diaspora Affairs Ministry asked Interior Minister Moshe Arbel to block the entry of French politician Rima Hassan on Monday due to her extensive, consistent, and ongoing anti-Israel activities and rhetoric.
Hassan has publicly called for a boycott of commercial companies operating in Israel, participated in initiatives to boycott Israel, and published content encouraging sanctions against the state.
These include expressing support for boycotting Starbucks and retailer Carrefour for alleged affiliation to the Jewish State, comparing Israel to apartheid South Africa, and calling for a boycott of French channel TF1 because it interviewed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The European Parliament also reprimanded Hassan for wearing a keffiyeh in September; She a...
For months, Hamas leaders have defended the militant group’s decision to launch the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel, despite the devastating Israeli offensive that followed, killing tens of thousands of Palestinians and leaving Gaza in ruins.
While Hamas has declared "victory" and vowed to carry out similar attacks in the future, one of its top officials is now expressing reservations. Mousa Abu Marzouk, head of Hamas’s foreign relations office in Qatar, told The New York Times that he would not have supported the attack had he known the extent of the destruction it would bring to Gaza. “If it was expected that what happened would happen, there wouldn’t have been October 7,” he said.
Abu Marzouk, 74, who was not informed of the specific plans but...
