Dear Friends, Supporters & Family,
With profound sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Rav Dovid Frid Z"l, who returned his soul to Hashem on Shabbat March, 22. He left this world after sudden complications which tragically escalated, overwhelming his body in a matter of hours.
For the past 15 years, Rav Dovid was not only a beacon of strength and Emunah, but a true warrior — living each day with courage, dignity, and deep devotion to Torah despite his health challenges. By his side every moment stood his beloved wife Rochel who, together with their children, was fully devoted to his care. Their lives revolved around keeping Rav Dovid comfortable, cared for, and surrounded by love.
Now Rochel and the family are facing an unimag...

Jerusalem, Israel – April 7, 2025 - A special moment of joy and solidarity recently unfolded in Yerushalayim as nine girls celebrated their Bat Mitzvah celebrations in a powerful ceremony arranged by the nonprofit organization Our People. The girls, whose fathers have been serving in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) since the outbreak of war on October 7, were honored in a moving group ceremony during an incredibly challenging time for their families.
The event, held at Yerushalayim’s Ramban Synagogue located in the German Colony, was made possible thanks to a family in Baltimore who were exploring a meaningful Bat Mitzvah opportunity for their daughter, who was turning 12. They learned about Our People and the incredible work it does. They proposed partnering with Our Pe...

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting with US President Donald Trump this evening (Monday). The American president received Netanyahu warmly upon his arrival at the White House.
The two are expected to discuss the hostage deal, Iran, and the tariffs imposed last week on Israeli imports. Netanyahu arrived in the US directly from his state visit to Hungary - during which he spoke with the US president.
Before the meeting, the two leaders spoke to the press in the Oval Office. "I want to thank you for inviting me again to the White House. You've been a remarkable friend to the State of Israel. You stand by us, you are a great champion of our alliance. You actually do things that you say you would, and people respect that enormously," Netanyahu told Trump.

That small piece of vegetable – the first food consumed at the Passover Seder –conveys something powerful: small things matter.
Step #3 of the Passover Seder is karpas, when you take a small piece of potato or celery dipped in salt water and eat it. You specifically eat a small amount, less than an olive’s volume in size. Amidst a night filled with so much food and abundance, the karpas is confined to limitation and restriction.
What message is the simple karpas conveying?

The natural tendency is to go after big things, as the saying goes, “Go big or go home.” Karpas remind...
Baltimore, MD - April 7, 2025 - Yiddishe nachas! That is the phrase that came to mind as I watched a dozen of HaRav and Rebbetzin Taub’s grandchildren from New York working away (while obviously having fun!) to help them get ready for Pesach.
For the past 15 years, the Taubs’ grandchildren – high school age and up -- have divided the labor. The girls scrub away inside the house, while the boys bake matzah in the woodburning “matzah bakery” oven located outdoors on the premises of Congregation Arugas Habosem.
This year, 5 grandsons and 7 granddaughters (clad in cute bright orange tee shirts) made the trip to Baltimore in a Sprinter that left 3 a.m. Sunday morning from Monroe, New York. It made one stop in Williamsburg, where cousins from there and...

Baltimore, MD - April 7, 2025 - Pesach is here. It's a lot of moving parts. This year it's a little bit more interesting. A one in 20 that is Pesach happening on Motes Shabbos. It really doesn't happen often and it comes with a whole bunch of rules and regulations even more than I'm accustomed to. So I have a lot of questions. Today I am here with Rabbi Shalom Tendler from the Star K to answer all my pressing questions. Very confusing. When do we burn the chametz? I don't know. When do we eat the chametz? The Rabbi is here to answer all these questions.
President Trump on Monday threatened to impose a 50 percent tariff on imports from China, a massive escalation of a potential trade war between the world’s two largest economies.
Trump’s threat is the latest tit-for-tat between the U.S. and China in the last week. The White House last Wednesday announced it would impose a 34 percent tariff on Chinese imports as part of “reciprocal” tariffs against dozens of countries.
Beijing responded by announcing a 34 percent tariff on American imports, leading to Trump’s warning on Monday.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social that China made the move, “despite my warning that any country that Retaliates against the U.S. by issuing additional Tariffs, above and beyond their already existing long term Tariff abuse o...

Baltimore, MD – April 6, 2025 – In response to a recent surge in burglaries and attempted break-ins, Shomrim has just deployed a new surveillance camera at the corner of Dorset and Falstaff. This decision comes after multiple incidents reported over the past couple of weeks in the Falstaff, Dorset, and Labyrinth areas.
Residents are also encouraged to keep their doors locked, as many of these incidents occurred due to unsecured doors where there was no forced entry.
The installation is part of an ongoing initiative to enhance security, deter crime, and assist local authorities in protecting our community.

Menachem Chaifetz was a bochur in Yeshivas Chaim Berlin in the 1990s. When he became engaged to the daughter of Rav Avrohom Turin zt”l, the esteemed Mashgiach of Scranton Yeshiva, it was a joyous occasion for both families.
Menachem eagerly anticipated his first Pesach in his father-in-law's home. The thought of spending Yom Tov in such a distinguished Torah environment filled him with excitement. The home of Rav Turin was known for its warmth, depth of Torah, and unwavering commitment to mesorah.
Erev Pesach arrived, and as the house bustled with final preparations, Rav Turin called Menachem aside.

Annapolis, MD - April 5, 2025 - With the clock ticking on their 90-day session, Maryland lawmakers are meeting Saturday and expected to approve a state budget and a series of tax and fee increases.
Senate Budget and Taxation Committee Chairman Guy Guzzone announced a deal on a $67 billion budget Friday. It would close a $3.3 billion deficit with more than $1.6 billion in taxes.
The package includes a 3% tax on information technology services, a sales tax on vending machine purchases and a $5 fee on new tires.
Last-minute budget decisions are tied to House and Senate negotiations on the governor’s education plan. The chambers are at odds over how much to cut from the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future education funding formula.

April 5, 2025—Baltimore, MD—The City of Baltimore and a class of pedestrians with mobility disabilities have reached a milestone settlement to increase access to the City’s curb ramps and sidewalks. The settlement, in the form of a partial consent decree, is the first big step in resolving claims brought on behalf of a class of persons with mobility disabilities alleging that the vast majority of curb ramps and sidewalks in Baltimore are not accessible and therefore violate federal disability rights laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (“Section 504”).
Under the partial consent decree, the City has agreed, among other things, to devote a minimum of $44 million, and potentiall...
