Crown Heights, NY – March 28, 2025 - A Charedi was assaulted Wednesday evening while riding the subway after taking a photo that triggered a violent response from a fellow passenger.
The attacker, a woman, became enraged and physically assaulted the victim, leaving him with visible injuries. She also spat at the victim’s friend and shouted antisemitic slurs, including “You Jew,” while threatening to “break your face” and “take your yarmulkes.”
Bystanders intervened, preventing the situation from escalating further. When the train arrived at the next station, officers were already present on the platform. Following a brief investigation, the suspect was placed under arrest.

A D.C. federal judge on Friday extended a restraining order against the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 wartime immigration law the Trump administration enacted to deport Venezuelan nationals who are Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang members in the U.S. illegally.
U.S. District Judge James Boasberg ruled the extension will run through April 12.
Also on Friday, in a separate ruling, a federal judge in Boston blocked the deportation of migrants to countries where they have no existing relationship without a chance to go into court to contest that move.
In a bench ruling, he ordered all planes carrying Venezuelan nationals or other deportees under the Alien Enemies Act be returned.
The administration later filed an emergency request for the U.S. appeals court to intervene.

Until the parking lot construction is complete, the Sephardic Minyan will IYH meet in the Social Hall.
Both the main and Sephardic minyanim will IYH share in the same Kiddush at the conclusion of davening.

Nearly a year after the exodus from Egypt, G-d directs Moshe to inaugurate the erecting of the Tabernacle, on the first of the month of Nissan.
ביום — On the day, החדש הראשון — of the first month, באחד לחדש — on the first of the month, you shall set up the Tabernacle of the Tent of Meeting. (שמות מ ב)
The verse seems redundant. Throughout the Torah the phrase 'ביום החדש', refers to the initiation of the month — Rosh Chodesh, so why the repetition of 'באחד לחדש' —'on the first of the month' in the very next words?
This verse with its emphasis on the 'first of the month' echoes an earlier one that was conveyed exactly a year before to the day.
