BJH: Tell us a little about yourself and how you ended up leading Agudah Maryland.
Rabbi Sadwin: I grew up in Silver Spring, and came to Baltimore in 1990 to attend Ner Yisroel, and where I have remained ever since (except for two years in Eretz Yisroel). In 1999 I married my wife, Pessi, whose family has been in Baltimore for generations.
My childhood was filled with observing how my parents (ybcl”c) were uniquely involved in serving the tzibur - shul, schools, and individuals alike, instilling in me the importance of taking responsibility when something needed to get done.

Baltimore, MD – September 5, 2026 - Torah Institute was privileged to welcome Rav Avrohom Schorr Shlit"a on Thursday, September 3, for a special visit with the talmidim and staff as the new school year gets underway.
During his visit, Rav Schorr shared divrei bracha and words of chizuk, inspiring those gathered to approach the new year with renewed enthusiasm and a commitment to continued growth in Torah and avodah.
His warm and uplifting words encouraged the talmidim and staff to recognize the opportunities that come with the start of a new year and to make the most of each day ahead.
The special visit provided an inspiring start to the school year, as Rav Schorr wished the entire Torah Institute family a year of tremendous hatzlachah and continued shteiging.

The Chassidic masters understand this lesson not in the sense that every man has his 'moment', but more accurately שעה in the context of being cared for, G-d turning to him, as the verse describes: וישע — And He [G-d] 'turned' to Hevel and his offering.
Everyone inevitably possesses a moment where G-d 'turns' to us with acceptance.

Baltimore, MD – September 4, 2026 - A silver “Hodaya” ring found approximately 10 years ago at Seven Mile Market is still waiting to be reunited with its rightful owner, and the finder is hoping the Baltimore community can finally help make that happen.
The finder has held onto the ring for all these years and has periodically attempted to locate its owner. The ring contains a meaningful personal inscription:
אל תשמחי איבתי לי כי נפלתי קמתי כי אשב בחשך ה׳ אור לי (מיכה ז׳, ח׳) את תמיד בליבי תמיד איתי אחותי באהבה, ______
The final line of the inscription contains a name, which BJL is intentionally withholding so that it can serve as a siman to verify the identity of the rightful owner.

Baltimore, MD – Sept. 4, 2026 – HaRav Avrohom HaLevi Schorr, shlit”a, visited Baltimore this week for an extraordinary two days of nonstop harbatzas haTorah and divrei hisorerus in preparation for the upcoming Yemei HaDin.
With tremendous energy and selfless dedication, Rav Schorr traveled throughout the community, delivering powerful words of chizuk at more than 18 stops, along with several personal and private visits.
On Wednesday, Rav Schorr addressed students and mispallelim at Bnos Yisroel, Bais Medrash D'Pikesville, Mechinas Ner Yisroel, the Toras Simcha Middle School, Yeshiva and Mesivta of Baltimore, and Kol Torah. He also delivered a shiur to Kollel Zichron Yehoshua Heschel, followed by Mincha.

Baltimore, MD – September 3, 2026 - In Lodz, Poland, currently home to roughly 100 Jews, keeping kosher can require far more than checking for a familiar symbol on a package.
Kosher products are available, says resident Dawid Gurfinkiel, but options are limited.
“Imported products and online shopping have made life easier, but there is still a need for greater education and availability, as well as a stronger kosher infrastructure,” says Gurfinkiel, who has worked as a mashgiach in Lodz. “For me, kashrus in Poland is not only a question of ‘Can I find kosher food?’ It is also a question of knowledge, trust, certification, and making Jewish religious life more accessible.”

Towards the end of Parshas Nitzavim, there are twenty Psukim within which the Torah refers to the Brachos and Klalos, which were just delivered on Har Grizim and Har Eival, in a multitude of different ways.
