Baltimore County, MD - April 11, 2025  - I am proud of the robust investments in education, public safety, transportation, recreation and parks, road resurfacing, curbs, gutters and sidewalks and many other capital projects. In the 2nd District, we secured more than $3 million for the redevelopment of the Pikesville Armory, $9-plus million for sidewalk improvements in Pikesville and Windsor Mill and $5-plus million in recreation and parks enhancements in Gwynn Oak, Lutherville-Timonium, Ruxton and Pikesville. Additionally, every community in the 2nd District will see significant improvements in quality-of-life issues with this budget. None of this would have been possible without the support and efforts of our...

The New York Times is reporting that last month, a closed meeting was held in Tehran between Iranian officials and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to two sources who were present during the conversation, Khamenei was warned about the future of the nuclear program. The sources claimed that Khamenei received a clear message that he should consider dialogue- even direct - with the United States regarding the nuclear issue. They further warned him that avoiding such a move could lead to strikes on nuclear sites and harm the regime's stability. The meeting was held amid internal debates in Tehran regarding a response to US President Donald Trump's offer to renew negotiations on a new nuclear deal. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, as well as the heads o...

Baltimore, MD - April 11, 2025 - Reposted upon request"Thank You for not burning plastic!" Baltimore, MD - May 2, 2017 - When Dr. Bert Miller was living in the Glenview Apartments (now the Fox Glen), in 1969, he noticed an elderly gentleman across the courtyard burning chometz on his porch.  When a fellow neighbor saw the billowing smoke, she thought the building was on fire and called the fire department. The Glen Avenue Fire Station firemen responded to the call, located about 150 yards away on the neighboring property, and put out the fire burning in his barbecue grill. As Dr. Miller explains, “The firemen soon realized that there was no out of control fire.  They learned that the man was performing one of the 3000-year-old Pesach rituals, likely the world’s olde...
US President Donald Trump told reporters on Thursday that the US is "close to getting hostages in Gaza back," while Israeli officials told The Jerusalem Post that there has been "some movement" from Hamas's side concerning the negotiations, and there is a higher chance of reaching a deal before. In recent days, talks have been held between Israel, Egypt, and the US on bringing the Egyptian proposal closer to the Israeli proposal. These talks were without the involvement of Hamas. Hamas has not yet seen the proposal, and there is currently no indication whether it will agree to it, an official with knowledge told the Post. JPost Videos Trump said that his administration was "dealing with Israel and Hamas" and that all parties were working on a deal...
The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a lower court's decision to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national living in Maryland, from an El Salvador prison where federal officials sent hundreds of suspected criminals and gang members in March. Abrego Garcia, 29, was deported to the El Salvadoran megaprison last month for being an alleged MS-13 gang member, but his attorneys maintain he does not have any gang ties. U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis ordered federal officials to coordinate his return back to Maryland in a Monday order, calling his deportation "wholly unlawful." On Thursday, the Supreme Court sided with Xinis. "On March 15, 2025, the United States removed Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia from the United States to El Salvador, where...
The Trump administration was handed another win on Thursday after a federal judge ruled that everyone in the U.S. illegally must register with the federal government and carry documentation. The Associated Press reported that Judge Trevor Neil McFadden, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, sided with the administration after arguing it was enforcing an existing requirement for everyone in the country who is not a citizen of the U.S. Rather than rule on the substance of the Trump administration’s arguments, McFadden ruled that the group pushing to stop the requirement did not have standing to pursue their claims. McFadden’s ruling will go into effect Friday. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Thursday that the deadline to register...

Wishing all readers enjoy a Pesach kasher v’same’ach! The Pesach Mindset The following are words of inspiration from Rav Yaakov Edelstein zt”l, the rabbi of the city Ramat Hasharon. This is how the Rav would conduct himself during these days:  While waiting in long lines, he would look at the masses of people and say with a smile, “How beautiful— the holy Jewish people are busy getting ready for Pesach.”  He emphasized how much this holiday is supposed to be filled with joy. Once he went to visit a woman who was feeling frazzled due to Pesach preparations. He talked to her until she was able to calm down and understand that all the preparations must be done with a desire for renewal—with a longing to eliminate chametz from your hous...
