In most years Pesach falls out during the weeks we begin Chumash Vayikra, that introduces the עבודת הקרבנות —the details surrounding the various offerings that were brought by the Kohanim in the Mishkan and the Mikdash.
We refer to this service as עבודה, as we pray each day והשב את העבודה לדביר ביתך — to restore the service to the to the Holy of Holies of Your Temple.

Stocks tumbled for a second-straight day after China imposed a 34% tariff on U.S. imports, raising concerns of a global trade war and possible recession.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 2,231.07 points, or 5.5%, while the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite fell 5.97% and 5.82%, respectively. The Nasdaq entered into bear market territory on Friday.

Baltimore, MD - April 4, 2025 - A federal judge on Friday ordered the Trump administration to return a Maryland man to the United States after he was mistakenly deported to El Salvador last month due to an "administrative error," according to an Associated Press report.
Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a resident of Beltsville and a citizen of El Salvador, was among hundreds of alleged gang members expelled from the United States on March 15 after President Donald Trump invoked the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, a wartime authority that allows the president broader leeway on policy and executive action to speed up mass deportations.
Despite his deportation, Abrego Garcia had been granted a withholding of removal in 2019, meaning he could not be removed from the United States.

The U.S. economy grew at a faster pace than expected at the beginning of 2024 as consumers continued to open their wallets despite ongoing inflation and high interest rates.
Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of goods and services produced across the economy, grew by 2.8% on an annualized basis in the three-month period from April through June, the Commerce Department said in its first reading of the data on Thursday.
That is much higher than the 2% increase forecast by LSEG economists and the 1.4% pace seen during the first quarter.

Baltimore, MD - April 4, 2025 - Baltimore City is suing two popular sports gambling sites.
The suit was filed in Baltimore City against Draft Kings and Fan Duel.
It alleges that the sports betting firms used deceptive practices to target problem gamblers and further gambling addiction.
Specifically, the suit argues promotions like bonus bets attract new gamblers, and the firms used analytics to identify those who suffer from gambling disorders.
The Washington, D.C., firm DiCello Levitt is partnering with the city law department in filing the suit.
Mayor Brandon Scott said in a news release, “These companies are engaging in shady practices, and the people of our city are literally paying the price.”

China announced Friday that it will impose a 34% tariff on imports of all U.S. products beginning April 10, part of a flurry of retaliatory measures following U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” slate of double-digit tariffs.
