Around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the 18-year veteran was shot in the head while canvassing for information with a partner. He was in the 900 block of Bennett Place.

There have been four homicides in the last year on that block alone.

The detective is currently on life support.

Police have offered a $60,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect.
