The activity of Border Police against agricultural crime, including the theft of agricultural produce, is the result of advanced operations including the focus of police activity around season crops and/or expensive crops on the market.

Police and border police officers operating in the Coastal District brought the suspect to the theft of 650 kilograms of avocado. The stolen merchandise was found at the site.

Police have impounded a vehicle which was found carrying seven large bags containing avocado, an expensive crop. It is believed the avocado were stolen from a field near Kibbutz Kabri. A male in his 20s was taken into custody.

A search of the area led to the discovery of six additional bags of avocado not yet loaded into the vehicle. The bags have a total weight of 650kg, carrying a market value of about 20,000 shekels.

The suspect was arraigned and his remand was extended by the Akko Magistrate Court until Wednesday, 14 Tishrei. Police expect to make additional arrests.
