Masked Palestinian Arabs attack yeshiva students in Homesh. Students drive away the attackers.

Masked Palestinian Arabs from the village of Burqa arrived on Wednesday at the yeshiva in the Samaria community of Homesh and tried to attack the students.

The students were able to drive away the attackers, who were armed with knives. The attackers dropped the knives as they fled the scene.

The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, called on security forces to act with determination and to capture the Arab assailants.

"This incident could have ended completely differently. I am happy that the yeshiva students were resourceful and managed to turn the assailants away," said Dagan, adding, “The time has come for the Homesh yeshiva to be rebuilt in the renewed community of Homesh.”

“This government can correct the moral injustice of the expulsion from northern Samaria, and allow us to return home to Homesh, Sa-Nur, Ganim and Kadim, as well as to the Homesh yeshiva, so that its students will be able to study with the security required at one of the most strategic and beautiful places in the State of Israel," continued Dagan.

While Homesh was torn down in the 2005 "Disengagement", the Homesh yeshiva has continued to operate for more than a decade and has over 30 students who attend classes there on a daily basis.

Earlier this year, Arabs set fire to the yeshiva during a “day of rage” held in solidarity with terrorists who are on hunger strike in Israeli prisons.

The fire caused heavy damage to the building but there were no injuries.
