Rabbi Shlomo Benizri, who began editing the daily newspaper Yom L’Yom, writes this morning (Thursday, 25 Menachem Av) in his first column: “It is inconceivable that the opinions of Torah sages should not be heard because of the wishes of one person or another.” He also writes that “there will be no boycotts, To those who provoke a quarrel and to the people of Madon. ”

Rabbi Shlomo Benizri, appointed editor-in-chief of Yom L’Yom, published his article in a newspaper published Thursday morning, officially the newspaper’s editor-in-chief.

In his speech Benizri writes that he approached with reverence, with awe of humility, with joy and discovered to edit the newspaper, and he sees it as a right.

“Today’s daily newspaper has been a stage for Sephardic Torah scholars for decades, and now it will continue to provide a platform for rabbis and Torah scholars who would like to publish halachic or moral articles of their own, and thus everyone will be able to feel that this is their home,” Benizri writes.

Benizri writes that after the death of Rabbi Yosef ZT”L, the unity and fraternity that existed within our camp began to loosen up and gave way to a spirit of excessive division that threatened to destroy any good part, and the spirit of controversy penetrated our camp.

Benizri goes on to write: “The prophecy of the End of Days was fulfilled in us, a rabbi disqualifies his friend, this politician boycotts his colleague, and each time my heart beats in my rav and I ask why. Benizri continues to write: “I would like to take advantage of this platform that I have been given and to work for the unity of the Sephardic Torah camp … I will give a platform to every rabbi who fears G-d, who will want to express his opinion and not to boycott him or to disqualify him because of his affiliation or non-affiliation to one camp or another. Torah will not be heard because of the will of one person or another. ”

Benizri writes further: “Here in the newspaper there will be no boycotts, no ostracisms, I announce in advance that Elul is about to cancel the boycotts and the banquets.” “I do not intend to give a platform to the quarrelsome and the Madonites. The newspaper’s approach is to increase love and brotherhood among all the camps, and to try to serve as a bridge, to bridge the differences by means of professional and high-quality content. “Benizri also makes it clear that Shas, which is very dear to him and is one of its supporters, will continue to remain so.
