Officials of the Terem emergency clinics in Israel report a very alert and cautious physician saved the life of an 11-year-old boy involved in what appears to be a not-so-serious bicycle accident in Beit Shemesh.

The family brought the child to a Terem clinic and he presented with abdominal abrasions from the fall. Dr. Ze’ev Wimpfheimer, the clinic’s medical director, did a comprehensive exam of the child and decided an ultrasound was in order. This diagnostic exam determined the child had internal bleeding and MDA was summoned and he was transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem by ambulance where he was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit. It was determined that there was an injury to the child’s liver, that was life threatening.

Needless to say, the parents are grateful for the diligence of Dr. Wimpfheimer and his staff at Terem for saving their child’s life.
