MK (Yahadut Hatorah) Uri Maklev is working to persuade Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon not to approve a taxi fare increase.

Maklev sent a letter to Kahlon asking him to reconsider as an increase he fears will negatively impact those who use taxis.

The ministry is about to approve a four percent increase, which has already been approved by the Ministry of Transportation.

It is pointed out that taxi fares were reduced a few months ago following a machlokes between committee which regulates fares, the Transportation Minister and drivers.

Maklev points out that taxi fares have increased a total of 60% over the past decade. He is calling on Kahlon to block yet another increase, explaining he should not permit the pressure of a group of lobbyists to result in yet another increase.
